  1. Just got this from the urban ohio forums: Recently Released: James A Rhodes Arena Feasibility Study The A/E will provide recommendations to The University of Akron for improvements at James A Rhodes Arena. Modifications will include improved sight lines, revisions to seating configuration for enhanced fan experience, premium seating accommodations, improved concessions, novelty, & ticketing as well as team facilities, offices and operations support. Solutions may include renovation and expansion of the existing arena, or demolition and construction of a new arena if modification of the existing facility is not practicable. Relocation costs (interim or permanent) for affected departments will be included in the feasibility study. A comparative analysis of the site and related project costs will be included in the study. This can be found on the U of A - Construction Public Bid Advertisements and Results webpage. Proposals are due in the middle of July. urbanohio http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/....html#msg562598
  2. They're probably just waiting until the next door neighbor, Plasma Alliance 2 moves in! Just kidding.
  3. Iba Awards recipients reflect on positive influences by: JIMMIE TRAMEL World Sports Writer Tuesday, June 07, 2011 6/7/2011 4:50:43 AM Who do the good guys think are good guys? Jason Taylor, Kristine Lilly and Stephen Wampler were honored during the Henry P. Iba Citizen Athlete Awards Monday night at the Renaissance Hotel. The Iba Awards, named in memory of former Oklahoma State and U.S. Olympic basketball coach Henry Iba, are presented annually by the Rotary Club of Tulsa to recognize positive role models who excel in their sport and who show, by their actions, a desire to help others. Essentially, the Iba Award is a good-guy trophy bestowed upon sports figures who do good things for others. During a pre-event press conference, the tables were turned and recipients were asked to talk about the best things anyone has ever done for them. Taylor's response: "(It was) probably (former Akron football coach) Gerry Faust back in the day giving me a scholarship to go to school, to have a chance to go get an education and play a sport that I hadn't played except for one year," Taylor said. "That was probably the beginning of it, but there are so many people in my life that have gotten me to where I am and helped me out. It is by no means an individual thing." full article here: http://209.184.242.1/site/printerfriendlys...B1_CUTLIN514567

  5. I'll never forget the Marshall punter fumbling a snap from center. It was exactly the kind of thing that normally happens to the Zips. Exactly! Remember the last second "bomb" td pass from Rape-lesberger to beat us? There were demonic entities at work in the Rubber Bowl. Lets hope nobody gives them directions to the Info.
  6. Right! And that game my dad gave up and left early to "beat traffic" lol.
  7. This was a tough one. I was friends with Jason Taylor in school (Poly Sci!!)and it was great watching him on Saturdays. For some reason I don't have many memories of Dwight Smith... though I do recall some very acrobatic INT's. Hixon brought possibly my very favorite sports moment in my life with THE catch in Detroit. I decided to go with Frye. I thought with Charlie at QB, our offense had a chance to keep us in every single game. From the moment he stepped in for an injured Nick Sparks for the OU game, to his mvp performance in the Senior Bowl, it was Frye that brought the most good memories for me. Now if the poll was "Who is the best football player from U of A" that has to be Jason Taylor. Though, I'm not really sure how his career measures up to John Heisman!
  8. Great news on Hix. Love watching him, and Chase, play the game. But didn't the G-men pick up a return specialist in the draft?
  9. I don't see any tv's in the pic!! The place has them at/near the bar, right?
  10. I'd guess that the hold (figure 4 lol!) of BW-2's is a fragile and tenuous one. What passes for a bar/restaurant scene could certainly use some good competition.
  11. The Giants choice draft picks may be a sign that Hixon may not be recovering from his injuries. Would be nice to see him fight back and get some quality time this year!
  12. I just heard someone say the scoreboard collapsed and killed two unicorns... Is that true?? Absolutely FALSE! They were endzone lawn gnomes. Get your facts straight! Good riddance. Lawn gnomes are scary.
  13. I don't see any dead unicorns. Ha ha....that guys body language is PRICELESS.
  14. I just heard someone say the scoreboard collapsed and killed two unicorns... Is that true??
  15. Just so happens I was going to that one!!!! ZIPS 4-EVER!!!!
  16. Who here is surprised? I never trusted a tarp to protect anything of value lol.
  17. It's crazy to have expected them to. This is great for football. Let the burden of getting MAC b-ball to prominence fall on the shoulders of the Zips.
  18. ^ Son of a bitch...... LOL the memory is slipping CK!!! WELCOME TO THE MAC UMASS (road trip in 2012, I hope)
  19. Thanks Yaznasty...those are great. Love the group pic with the Zips and Real reserves!!!
  20. I for one, will never, ever forget that epic game vs. Iona.
  21. ^ Ouch. I will not tolerate bench seating in our new arena!! Even Memorial Hall had real seats lol.... Hey, what ever happened to those seats? Anyone know?? They were actually very comfortable.
  22. Very cool....glad you guys saw that!! And you seemed to have comprehended more than me lol. I have a suspicion it will arrive here: http://search.espn.go.com/bob-knight/
