  1. Man, I love lurking after a win like this. From a SU Fan Board: http://www.cuseorange.com/forum/viewtopic....a&start=260 Yep.....f'ing AKRON!!!! GO ZIPS!!
  2. Yes! There are people on here who don't want to root for the Bobcats because they fear what benefits a win over OSU would have for them, but I will tell you right now that OSU losing a game to a MAC school will have more immediate and long-term benefits for us than if OU loses. We are more than 100 miles from OSU, and so their hold on the market is a bit weaker than it is in Athens. Anything to shake up the fan base around here, who live on the geographical fringe, is of benefit to us.OSU having less of a hold on the market here? What have you been smoking and can I have some??? They have got a ROCK SOLID HOLD on greater Cleveland compared to other areas of the country.
  3. Yep, scroll to the top and on the right side is "Live Chat". Works awesome!
  4. Why don't you guys go to the live chat??? Works much better!
  5. Go BOBCATS!!! If OU wins, I'm gonna go buy an OHIO shirt TODAY and wear it ALL WEEKEND!!!
  6. Undefeated against 3 top 25 teams....not to shabby! Sounds like a good crowd too! I want to hit one game this year, hopefully I can make the time! Sounds like we may make a run this year!GO ZIPS!
  7. You obviously haven't been paying attention. We'll keep him in check. He just needs a second chance. Just because he got in trouble once doesn't mean he will do it again. Besides, he's only beating up women!! Did I mention he's a great player?!?! WELCOME ABOARD!!! "Besides, he's only beating up women"I personally don't care if he is guilty or innocent. I also don't care if he deserves a second chance or not. I don't think we should touch him with a ten foot pole, if he is guilty of beating up women what kind of RB can he be. He should be out there beating up men. ZipAlum....that's called sarcasm. I believe we should be recruiting high character players and that recognize that their chances of going pro from Akron are slim and work towards a degree. Take a look through some of the threads and you'll see that there are many different, strong opinions regarding our recent recruiting.
  8. Thank goodness we don't have to worry about this at the RB!!
  9. Not this weekend, but maybe next weekend. Regardless, I will be stopping there next time in Akron to support establishments that support UA.
  10. I sure hope there is some improvement if we are going to be running the same plays as last year. 1st - 10....run. 2nd - 8.....run 3rd - 7.......run 4th......punt. We don't have this option: 1st - 10....run. 2nd - 8.....run. 3rd - 13....pass to Jabari. We had quite a few years of good QB's Butchie, Chuck, even Luke was pretty good. Now....UH.
  11. You need to add another option to the poll: I have no idea how we are going to finish, I'll just show up and cross my fingers.
  12. That is a damn good idea to put the best players to have called the RB home on the tickets. Maybe they could have had different pictures of the teams through the years that have played at the RB. Either of those would have been MUCH better than the kids pictures. Just another example of what goes on inside our athletic dept.
  13. Exactly, and this new soccer stadium is long overdue. Too long has the soccer team been the best program the school has had, and for too long has the plight of the team gone ignored. It's an elite program and deserves elite facilities. On that note so too does the Rifle team need elite facilities. YES! A new range would be great, but we've been trying to get one for about 15 years now. Not a high profile sport and very few people see the range so it always gets pushed down on the list. I think there was something tossed around quite a few years ago that would have built a world-class shooting range at UofA and some national NRA events and likely the NCAA championships would have been hosted here. It never materialized. The real problem is that the range is an academic facility, so the police academy gets priority. The result is that I used to get up at 3:00 AM so I could go to practice before the first academy class in the morning.
  14. I'll tell you what, I'm pretty pumped about Akron's future right now. Name another city in Ohio that is undergoing such a massive reinvestment with global corporations and the likelyhood that hundreds of white collar jobs will be created???? If I had the money, I'd be buying property along East Market street right now. With downtown improving on one end, Goodyear construction on the other end and UofA and Summa in the middle, that stretch of road is gonna be changing dramatically here in the near future! On the other hand, it'll be interesting to see what happens in Firestone Park. The new building could really revitalize the area, depending upon what happens to the old Firestone HQ. Now, what are everyone's thoughts on selling the sewers to pay for college tuition???
  15. I'm sure these rankings are very similar to the College Football Rankings. The top 50 schools get lots of attention, and then after that they just let a computer program figure it out. As an example, when I was in school, I ran across a ranking of Engineering schools in the U.S. I don't even think Akron was listed despite the fact that our SAE teams took 1st place in 3 of the 4 national competitions we entered.
  16. They're called "trolls". They do it because it the only way they can get their kicks is to piss other people off. They like to create reactions, possibly because it is the only way they know how to get other people to aknowledge their existance. Their situation is a sad one, being the lowest of internet life-forms.Apparently, quite a few reside in K E N T. Ever notice that when a Zips article comes up the first 3 posts are from Can't fans bashing UofA?? I think a lot of flush fans have Zipper envy!
  17. I had the opportunity to drive up Rt 8 earlier this week and you can barely see the stadium from the freeway currently. The extra height from the pressbox will really make it impressive from Rt. 8 though.
  18. Though I understand the logic of playing it safe in Wisconsin, I just can't sign up for it. I think we've got to play that game just like any other and go for the win no matter how long the odds are. One thing to consider, say we do just pack it in and rest our starters. Would the NCAA sanction us for fixing a game?
  19. This is interesting. Before I rip apart the idea of putting kids drawings on a D-1A ticket, I would like to know if this is true for all tickets. Do reserved tickets have this as well? My guess is it is true because it would be too much to have two types of season tickets. Here is what you see when you go onto the Miami web page.. Here is what you see on Go Zips. It really does not take a trained professional to see that one school is doing something different to try to sell tickets by using the internet and the physical ticket as a selling tool. Is using kids drawings on tickets really the best we can do? Well you have two ways to look at this. The way you are looking at it. orThe fact that Miami is concerned with the past (ala showing a bunch of people who have little relevance in today's world). And Akron is trying to build for the future by getting children interested in the Zips. Now granted my version gives a lot of credit to Akron's Marketing, but you see my point. Kids can drive the market. You don't see sell outs and parents fighting to get their hands on Pet Rocks anymore, but try to find Wii right now. Plus there is the whole building a sense of ownership thing. Please tell me you are joking with this nonsense? How can you possibly say that Woody Hayes, Ara Parseghian, Paul Brown, and John Pont are a bunch of people who have little relevance today? Do you understand how many coaches, offensive and defensive schemes, NCAA championships, NFL franchises, etc... came from these people? Most of them are a who's who list of college football coaching legends!! You amaze me more and more every day when you completely diss other programs. lolAlso, if Akron is targeting these little kids as their marketing plan they are not very bright. These kids will draw whatever their teacher asks them to draw. Besides, none of them can afford tickets!!! If their parents are not Zips fans they simply won't take them to the games. Marketing college football games to a bunch of elementary and middle school kids would be absolutely comical.Hey, at least they are better than the crap we got prior to 2006!! I have to say that the ticket design is completely unexpected and I think it was simply an effort to raise awareness of the Zips with the local community. There was probably a contest last year and the winners got free season tickets to the Zips this year. Our marketing had done it again! Who thinks of these things??? As for Miami, they have an amazing coaching history and they do an excellent job exploiting it.
  20. You obviously haven't been paying attention. We'll keep him in check. He just needs a second chance. Just because he got in trouble once doesn't mean he will do it again. Besides, he's only beating up women!! Did I mention he's a great player?!?! WELCOME ABOARD!!!
  21. Man where they sling'n steel today! That place is gonna be HUGE! You can see the slope of the stands near the top of the existing steelwork now.
  22. Here's what might be going on. Could it be that CJ11 is truely better than MR right now, but MR might be progressing faster than CJ11? If JD rules out MR right now, MR might bolt, and we're stuck with CJ11. I wouldn't be suprised to see us rotate MR in for a few games to keep both of them hooked until one comes out the clear winner.
  23. So, the offense came alive. I sure hope it has made that much progress and that our D isn't just that bad. I'll reserve judgement until the season starts.
  24. OK, so today I'm thinking, "What game will we pull off the last minute upset this year?" We've done it every year under JD, so why should this year be any different? To refresh your memories:2004: Marshall, RB, ESPN. The place was 1/2 empty when we stormed the field!! This is why I ALWAYS stay to the end!2005: Northern ILL, MACC. TOPS on my list for best sports moment in my life!2006: NC State, The game that killed "The Chest"2007: Western Michigan, KZoo. With a 13 month old kid in one arm, and about 2000 shocked and pissed WMU fans immediately surrounding me. I have never been more restrained with my emotions. So, which game will it be this year? I can't say that the other games have been huge upsets, so I'm crossing off Wisconsin. Here's my list, with the highest probability first:1) Syracuse - Though we might not see it as an upset, everyone else will.2) Buffalo - RB goes out with a BANG!3) Ball State4) BG5) Cincinnati6) Can't State As for the Can't State game, who knows if rivalry games can be considered an upset, that's why it's last. There are 2 ways I would prefer to beat Can't State. 1) Blow their doors off, like we usually do or 2) Pull off a win at the last minute, just to make it hurt that much more.
  25. Yep, got mine today too! What pictures are on them?? Mine have drawings from local kids because, I assume, I got the family package.
