  1. Toledo brought around 2,000 for the GMAC bowl, which is a bit disappointing but not that bad. The ones that came left a good mark in Mobile. As for the MCB, Toledo brought over 10,000, and perhaps 20,000, for each of their bowl games in Detroit. Of course, geography played a key role in that. If Akron brings between 5-10,000 fans this year, that is great.
  2. I don't think you understand how tough it is to get a BCS team to your home site. Unless Akron signs a 3 for 1 or maybe a 2 for one deal, I don't see a Big 10, Big East, or any other BCS school coming to Akron just because you won the MAC title. You don't see Toledo, NIU, Miami, and BG hosting BCS schools on a yearly basis and Akron is not at that level of recognition yet. Akron needs 1-2 more solid years before BCS schools offer some deals.
  3. Slow down buddy. Just cause Akron won the MAC title doesn't automatically give the university a right to pick and choose which bowl to go to or which BCS teams will come to Akron. Akron needs to build on this season and gain national recognition on the same level as BG, Miami, NIU, and Toledo before things start falling into your lap.
  4. Zips play their hearts out but Williams is too much for Akron. Akron: 24 Memphis 31
  5. Pete Fiutak calls the MCB is #20 and the GMAC bowl #26. His take on MCB: 20. Motor City Bowl, Dec. 26, 4 pm ET ESPN Akron vs. Memphis Yeah, Akron did what it had to do against Northern Illinois to earn this spot, and yeah, it’s a solid MAC team, but a Garrett Wolfe vs. DeAngelo Williams game would’ve been a whole lot more fun. Williams is always worth the price of admission. Stars of the show: 1. DeAngelo Williams, RB Memphis, 2. Brett Biggs, RB Akron The knee jerk, off-the-cuff, initial prediction: Memphis 26 … Akron 20 His take on GMAC: 26. GMAC Bowl, Dec. 21, 8 pm ET ESPN Toledo vs. UTEP The last time we saw Toledo, it won a double-overtime thriller over Bowling Green. UTEP is a fun team to watch, but it choked worse than any team in America down the stretch. While this isn’t an intriguing matchup, it could be the MAC’s best team vs. the best Conference USA team. Stars of the show: 1. Bruce Gradkowski, QB Toledo, 2. Jordan Palmer, QB UTEP The knee jerk, off-the-cuff, initial prediction: UTEP 38 … Toledo 27 Don't agree with the GMAC ranking being #26 out of #28, but from a national perspective, the public may see it this way. http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/story/5141066?GT1=7429
  6. I'll go if my buddy's Dad gets good tickets. He's one of the VP's at Akron. If not, I'm not driving up by myself to the game but I'll catch it on the tube.
  7. Looks like Akron lost by over 20 but Coach Pitino was impressed with the Zips. He had some nice things to say after the game.
  8. If the Zips land Wells, this will put Akron on a whole new level.
  9. If a D3 team stays within 20 points of a D1 team that is considered a moral victory. Still, good win for Zips.
  10. Yeah I bet Roda and Brinda will promote the hell out of that game? They probably don't know who Akron is playing w/o looking it up.
  11. Though I usually don't support banning, as a Toledo and Akron fan, please ban ToledoRockets because he is a disgrace to all Rocket fans.
  12. The dildo man keeps on rolling.............
  13. NIU sure did Doubtful they did, but Akron wouldn't stop fighting and that shows a lot of heart.
  14. Hosting any ACC, Big Ten, or Big East team would be great for the university.
  15. Yes, it was so empty that the first topic on a local sports radio show after Toledo's win was why didn't anyone go. I was there, don't pretend there were more people than what there were. By the way, Akron has had crowds over 30,000 many times in the past. You need to stop. Ignore ToledoRockets and get off this MACC attendance at Toledo. They drew over 20,000 for the game, but it looked empty for most of it because Marshall was up by 3 TD's in the first half and everyone left, despite the fact that Toledo won the game in the end. Who really cares right now? If Akron hosted a MACC game, I'm sure at least 20,000 would show up. Let's move on and talk about Memphis. Don't let this moron add fuel to your fire.
  16. FYI to all Zips fans, ToledoRockets is an a$$hole and does not represent the views of Toledo fans. On a side note, he's probably the guy who dresses up in the big blue dildo costume, so it's no wonder the guy is a pr**k.
  17. Good to hear the Zips get some national exposure.
  18. As a diehard fan of Toledo and a new fan of Akron, please do all of us a favor and shut the hell up. You're embarassing Toledo fans and giving them a bad name. Akron's campus is nicer and more appealing than Toledo. I know this because I spent 6 years in Toledo getting 2 degrees and am now at Akron on my PhD. But who really cares which campus is better? Also, your comment on walking outside of Toledo's campus and seeing million dollar homes draws these reactions: Perhaps, three room houses with trash littering the yard falls under your category of "million dollar" homes, but to everyone else, the campus is located near a lot of poverty. Furthermore, don't knock Akron for attendance and a lack of success. They will get there. The university is on the upward, and UA athletics will be among the Miamis and BG's of the East for the next decade. Please do all Toledo and Akron fans a favor by enrolling in some classes at Toledo and start earning an education because you clearly do not have one.
  19. That money is sent to the MAC and split between the 13 schools. What?!! Are you sure about that the site says "per team" check the link... I'm not sure how much Akron gets, but the MAC receives each payout that its teams receive for a bowl and the money is divided between the 13 schools in the conference. I am very sure this is how it goes down.
  20. Not sure if the Big 10 has enough teams qualifying for bowl games but I think Minnesota may go. Otherwise, probably a C-USA or MWC opponent will go to Detroit. It's confusing this year.
  21. That money is sent to the MAC and split between the 13 schools.
  22. Sloopy, WTF????? Even I show more class to NIU fans on their boards.
  23. Congrats to the ZIPs. You shut me up for a long time. Hats off to the team, coaches, fans for being MAC champs. Ironically, I wore my Toledo MAC champs hat on Akron's campus today hoping people would notice how good it feels to be conference champs. I guess now Akron fans now for sure!
  24. Agreed on a great game And also to the ESPN guys for spending 3/4ths of the game on everything other than UA/NIU.
  25. Akron wins if they cause turnovers and score off them. Neutralizing NIU's offense is impossible, but if Akron can make some key stops in the 2nd half and keep the game close, I think they may pull this out. Biggs and Hixson have to be factors for a Zips victory. Prediction: NIU 31 Akron 21
