It had Toledo losing to Missouri
-
Hard getting a W on the road in the conference. Good win Zips!Man, the Eastern division is loaded with great teams.
-
I don't know about the head coach, but the assisstant coach Blauser is very easy on the eyes.
-
If Akron beat a Top 10 team twice they still wouldn't get ranked. Akron has to do well in the MAC toruney and have between 22 and 24 wins to be considered for the NCAA tourney if they don't win the MAC. It's very hard to get an at-large bid as a mid-major.
-
I hope some other MAC schools steal that idea.
-
I was there rooting for Toledo and it was a painful and frustrating experience. On the flip side, I was really impressed with Akron and I plan on using my Zip card to get into several other home games this year. Also, I saw in the program that Akron's girls team has some hot players and a good looking asst. coach. I may sneak in for one of those games too.

Toledo should be favorite to win MAC next season. Ton of talent returning.
-
Do your homework beanie:Toledo does lose Bruce at QB but have some solid options to replace him.Toledo loses 2 RB's but have 2 returning who saw lots of PT, 1 returning who was a star in 2004 season, and a RS freshman who has a ton of potential.Toledo will be fine next year and will be favored over Akron.

This will be my 1st visit to Rhodes Arena so I am looking forward to the game. Here's what you can expect from Toledo: The 7-3 record is deceiving.1. We are a 3point shooting team that is inconsistent. If we get hot early, this game could get ugly. But we probably won't.2. Our post game is non existent because our post guys believe in shooting threes rather than posting up. Especially #15.3. Our defense is shaky and has been inconsistent all season. We allow teams to drive to the hole all game.4. Howell #22 and Ingram #20 are our best players and can hit from all over the court. Shut these guys down and Akron will win.5. We go 10-11 deep each game but our bench is young. If we get contributions from everyone, we'll play well.6. Our offense, at times, appears to not run plays, and justs dribbles around for 30 seconds before throwing up a bad shot. That's all I can think of. As you can tell, Toledo fans are not that happy with the team, because even at 7-3 we show too many traits from last season. Akron will win if we play poor, which happens frequently. Toledo will win if we actually shoot 40% from the 3 point line.

I think that MAC Championship is going too far in your head.

Has your opinion changed? Playoff vs. Bowl System
msopher replied to Ryno aka Menace's topic in Akron Zips Football
The current bowl system is fine to us MAC fans now because we just want to go to a bowl game. However, when one of our teams pulls off what Utah did last year, we'll be singing a playoff tune. I know I will. -
The dildo man will never shut up.

That is a strong OOC schedule for Akron and it will clearly help put the university on the map. All Akron needs to do is to win some of those games and I think that is an attainable goal.

No way Wisconsin comes to BG. That's the way it is, and that's the way it will probably be for a long time. Big time BCS schools will not play at a MAC venue, plain and simple. I know Purdue and Northwestern and other BCS schools have signed deals to come to MAC stadiums, but they are not consistently at the top of their respective conferences. This game does suck for the MAC but it's probably the closest a MAC team will get to "hosting" a quality BCS school.

She is hot and I hope she "congratulated" Hawk for his superb play.I just felt bad for Hawk and both Quinns. ESPN and ABC and the rest of the media overblew that story. Don't get me wrong, it needed to be mentioned but I think they went overboard.

Fyre played well but I still have doubts whether or not he is the future QB for Cleveland. I'll have to see how he performs next season before I can get a better read. It may take 3-4 years before we see Fyre officially become a starting QB.
-
It sucked to have the game end on the fumble controversy, if for no other reason than the Zips fans were pissed. When it came to announcing Memphis as the champs the Zips fans roundly "booooo'd." That was a shame. Rumor has it there will again be a November filled with oddball night games in 2006 (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, etc.).

Why do you idiots continue to acknowledge ToledoRockets posts? Please ignore him. He's a jackass, plain and simple.

As a Toledo fan, I would agree that a move to the Big East would be a disaster initially. I don't think we have the talent to consistently compete with those teams week in and week out. However, I wouldn't read too much into this. No one has heard any talks of this taking place, and we have no idea what Amstutz said to Church. I seriously doubt he told the prospect that Toledo was moving into the Big East, and if he did, it may mean something is in the works. Also, Toledo would join the Big East as a football only member, like Temple. No way the Big East allows Toledo to come into the conference with all athletic programs.I want to see more sources before I start commenting further. I don't think Toledo is going to the Big East anytime soon.

"Fear the Roo" is probably one of the best slogans I have ever seen in the MAC.

That was exactly what I thought until I went down to the GMAC bowl this year. The parade, hospitality, and atmosphere is better in Mobile than Detroit. I've been to 3 MCB so I know what both cities offer. I'll gladly take Mobile over Detroit any day.

Akron builds a 35,000 stadium that can fit an additional 10,000 would be stupid. No way that place sells out or even comes close to full capacity. If you think Akron will in 10 years move to a bigger conference or draw 40-50,000 a game consistently, you are dreaming. A 30,000 stadium should be enough.
-
Good effort by Akron and near comeback for a win. Too bad the refs screwed you guys at the end. 7-6 is not a great record by any means, but Akron is the MAC champs and that is something 12 other conference schools can't say.
-
I saw tons of Zips fans on the turnpike and in the service areas. I had to go to Toledo to pick up my nephew and would have headed north if he was bit older. Glad to see a large presence of Akronites going to the game.

Toledo brought around 2,000 for the GMAC bowl, which is a bit disappointing but not that bad. The ones that came left a good mark in Mobile. As for the MCB, Toledo brought over 10,000, and perhaps 20,000, for each of their bowl games in Detroit. Of course, geography played a key role in that. If Akron brings between 5-10,000 fans this year, that is great.
