Akron getting 500 students to a sporting event is a rarity.

Because their is a difference between a player who earns the ring, and the fan who merely watches the event.

There is a Zip card in it as well as my old Rocket card. I bleed blue and gold and keep tabs on the Zips. I started to like the Zips but I don't care much for their fans, especially the ones on here. I call it a lack of intelligence on their part.

Where is the irony? Their programs obviously met the requirements. If you truly believe that every big name/BCS school passed the APR test, you're more of an idiot than I really thought.

Actually, the writer has ties with the athletic department and the football team. He knws what he is talking about.

Do me a favor, go to ESPN.com, read Pat Forde's article on the APR and then respond back to my statement. The MAC and other mid major schools got screwed on this, while the BCS conferences got off scot-free.

Too bad for you guys, the 6 scholarships won't hurt us. We use less than 80 of 85 available scholarships in previous seasons. And somehow we still win MAC titles and go to bowl games? Amstutz must be a great recruiter.

Actually losing 6 scholarships won't hurt Toledo that much. Last year, they only used 78 scholarships out 0f 85 available. Still, this looks bad for Toledo, but the APR system is all screwed up and it seems to only go after the smaller schools.

I just find it ironic that they will penalize "mid-major schools" for the APR, but somehow Ohio St., Florida St. and other "academic institutions" are left out.

I saw Akron at Toledo once under Hipsher. I think the UT students were starting to make fun of Coach Hipsher for keeping his son in there too long. Hipsher sucked that night

Nope...scratch that...ENTIRELY worthless.Once a Toledo fan berates Akron's 7 point MCB loss after Toledo's two recent, brutal MCB beatdowns...well, your street cred takes a hit. As is your opinion on the Williams's story with Toledo. You don't know the full story, nor are you willing to look at this situation from both sides. Therefore, your credibility on anything outside of Akron has no significance.

I was driving to PA that day for a family get together. The weather was bad, but I have seen worse conditions for a football game.

I wanted to type that earlier but I thought no Akron fan would understand. Apparently, I was wrong.

We won a MAC title in 2001, 2004. I don't recall anyone on those teams being convicts.Plus, Williams wasn't recruited by Toledo. He enrolled at Toledo when a judge told him to get into college and start his education. He is a walk-on attempting to earn a spot on the team. Granted, their is a potential back lash if things go south, but Williams is generally being ignored by Rocket fans because we don't need him.Also, achieve the same level? You win 1 MAC title and already you feel like you are the top dawg in the conference? Let me bring you down to earth. 7-6 is not that good of a record even with a MAC title. Plus, I know Toledo represented the MAC well this year in its bowl games, but I'm sad to say that Akron did not.

I think Zips win out. Ohio is not as good as advertised and Buffalo is struggling. Playing Can't at home has to be an advantage, so I expect Akron to win there as well.Sadly, a MAC regular season title will not be enough to go dancing in March.

Either he is getting financial aid or his parents/guardian is paying for his education. He does not have any scholarship with Toledo.
