  1. I think that Big Ben will end up in the HOF, when it is all said and done. He does not have the career numbers to qualify currently, but his current post season play coupled with a ten year career will get him in.
  2. Way to go Steelers!!! Number 6!!! I don't care where he went to school right now! The Steelers are World Champs!!!
  3. I would not consider Buffalo a team that has given Akron much trouble over the years. We are 8-2 against the Bulls since the joined the MAC, with most of our wins being quite lopsided. Buffalo will have to prove themselves for a longer stretch before I worry about them. I think it is good for their program to have some success but I am still not worried about Buffalo. If the trend would continue for two or three more years, then we would have an issue.
  4. No, the score was 14-0 after the first quarter and 35-10 at half. (21 points was the most we gave up in any quarter of the game).http://gopsusports.cstv.com/sports/m-footb...0/teamstat.html
  5. I think the paper made a mistake. His time is decent but far from the record. He is over 3 seconds away from the record (47.00) and would have finished 5th at the recent quad meet in the 400.Here are results from the quad meet and the record is listed at the top of the event.https://admin.xosn.com/downloads1/78309.pdf...DB_OEM_ID=10800
  6. The series between The University of Akron Zips and PSU is 0-3 and no 81-0 beatdown.Record: 0-3-0 9-4-99 Akron 70 PSU 24 9-4-04 Akron 10 PSU 48 9-2-06 Akron 16 PSU 34 2009 prediction Akron 81 PSU 0
  7. If OSU is able to steal Miami's QB, I bet his scout and rivals ratings will soar. I hope that this kid will keep his word and go to Miami. If he stays with the redhawks, I am sure that the Zero state will look to poach a different MAC QB. Another example of Zero state impact on the MAC.
  8. I am guessing this is not who you meant but:Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson will make a special appearance at the University of Akron women's basketball game versus Toledo on Saturday, Jan. 31.
  9. WOW!! That is great news about Alex Allen. He will be a big help to the backfield next season.
  10. Northwestern is next! Does anyone know the time and date of the next round?
  11. Zips score! Awesome! Way to go Zips!
  12. I laughed when reading the final line of the article. The suckeyes gave us our toughest game of the season? Let's go Zips! Time to beat them again!
  13. Welcome aboard Zeke! Glad to have you as a part of the Zips family!
  14. Huge Zips fan from Virginia!
  15. I know that JD's future is a valid discussion at this point, but it is also possible for JD to get Coach of the Year honors within the MAC this season. We were picked to finish dead last and we are in first place in the East. If JD can keep it together for the rest of MAC play, I think he would have a good shot. If the team severly falters down the end, it could be the end for JD. Halfway through the season, it is hard to say weather JD is a great coach who is getting the team together or it time to look for the next great coach.
  16. The reason there is a call for JD is because the team is not very good and doesn't seem to improve. Here at Akron an 8-4 record would be a fantastic season and we would all be elated about it.At other schools, too many 8-4 seasons and you will be fired. It's all about expectations and having a winning mentality instead of a losing mentality. If we were 8-4 consistently and had the occasional 6- 6 record, we would most likely be happy. However, right now we are happy to finish 6-6. That is because we are used to losing.I don't think any MAC school is going to fire an 8-4 coach. Most MAC schools struggle with out of conference games because we play most of them on the road. A BCS school, like PSU, basically pays for four schools to come in an get overmatched, while moving to 4-0. They need to go 4-4 during conference play to be 8-4, hence they would be an average school in their conference. Most decent MAC schools start the season out 1-3 or 2-2, if they go 4-4 in their conference they are looking at 5-7 or 6-6, while being relative equal to the rest of the conference. Unless we start buying wins(ie: Cal Poly, Howard, etc..), I am going to judge JD by the MAC as the standard. He needs to be above .500 in conference. If we need the money, go and take the paycheck games against top ranked opponents but that loss is on our lack of finances, not JD.
  17. The program is stronger now than during the LO era, but JD has a fantastic fieldhouse, first class weightroom and an on campus practice facility. Has the program moved forward because of the coaching or the investment in the program? I think we should stick with JD but the expectations should be high. I believe that Akron should be a consistent winner within the MAC. I think it is unrealistic to expect a football dynasty but I think we should be in the discussion for the MAC title at the start of each year and finishing above .500 during conference play.
  18. YES!!! Thank you DK!
  19. I agree with playing for the field goal at this point. All we need is run the ball without fumbling, no more passes.
  20. I was really looking forward to a comfortable win. Guess we will have another close one. Let's go Zips!
  21. Our offense looks great!
  22. Time of possesion is pretty lopsided at this point. I can't argue about quick scoring but I would love to see a sustained drive that gives our D some time off.Akron 12:03 EMU 25:13
  23. Considering grades have not come out yet, I doubt it has anything to do with that. He was supposed to be a big pick up, too bad he his not on the roster.
  24. That president is dreaming. There is zero chance that they will get a football program prior to July 1st, no less one that can support itself. He might be laying some groundwork for the school to have discussions but they will never have a self supporting football program. They can dream of joining the MAC but it will never happen. The MAC requires football and CSU will never taken on the financial responsibilities of having a team.
  25. I hate to add anything potentially negative to this already difficult story. I can not believe that Bain is suspended for the year on his first positive test. The athletic department does do random testing and I am guessing that Bain had to have messed up several times to get to a year suspension. If the product was an accidental GNC product, you would think Bain would avoid that product in the future, not get hit multiple times.
