Half of the people sitting in the North side weren't "Rowdies". They were students who just wanted to sit down low. Yes, a few sat down for awhile until a few of us reminded them to stand up. And yes, they might not have been as into the game as I would have hoped that they'd be. But do you honestly want to kick them out of their seats? You want half-empty student sections to become a regular thing? I have said this about eight times tonight...WE CANNOT BE PICKY ABOUT WHO SITS LOW. For whatever reason (a whole other debate) the students haven't been showing up to sit down low. So until they do, you have one of two choices:1) Let anyone sit down low - regardless of what they're wearing, how many games they've been to, how crazy they get, etc. - and have almost-full to full student sections, and in the process hope to gain non-Rowdies interest in the student section and in turn build the fan base2) Kick them out of their seats or not let them sit down low at all unless they do every single thing our best fans do. Continue having half-empty student sections and never allow growth in the group. I know what I'd pick. Not everyone is going to paint their body/face, or stick pom poms in their socks, and/or go absolutely nuts every single minute of every single game. I think it's great that so many in the South Side show that enthusiasm, and believe there is a great set of fans over there. But at the same time, that doesn't mean the North Siders aren't doing a great job either, or that they're any less of fans. And by continually bad-mouthing the North Section, it really does nothing but create tension. Let's not forget...we're all students, we're all fans, and many of us are Rowdies. The point is to get more of us, even if we do have to go through some growing pains...not push current ones away. With 5200 people there last night, and a good contingent of student, praticularly greeks I would like to see the powers that be be a little more choosy on who is sitting down there. The people who were down there looked to me like a lot of the same group of stiffs that they usually get to fill up that side of the student section. And sorry, they NEVER stand up. They might have been on their feet for a grand total of 8-10 minutes last night and even that may have been giving them too much credit. We may not have been able to do much better most of the season in terms of "seat fillers" but last night we certainly could have. It would have been real nice last night to instead of filling those seats with the same stiffs bring down some of the greeks who, I would assume, would have more enthusiasm for the game.

Ok guys, BIG game. A game that is back and forth. 4 minutes to go. The crowd is on their feet (even the alumni). Everyone is behind the team. I'm sittin in the back row of the south side jumping and yelling my throat off, with a mild cold mind you. I look across the way and what do I see? 15-25 North Side Rowdies sitting on their hands chumming it up. UNACCEPTABLE. You guys all signed a contract at the beginning of the year stating you would be STANDING and YELLING all game long. STAND AND YELL. If not, get out of your seats and let some people in who will. I would have much rather seen the greeks sitting down in those seats tonight. At least they would get off the fat rear ends and get into the game a little bit.I'll step off the soapbox now.

Some thoughts:-Very nice crowd tonight and for once most of them seemed to be into it most of the game. We need more of that. MUCH more.-Fitting ends to Romeo and Dru's careers in the JAR. Dru takes the alltime assist lead in front of the home fans and has solid performance and Romeo puts up his best night ever (at least offensively) with 37. -Romeo was a man possessed inside. Every time he got the ball he started backing his man in and there was nothing any of BG's guys could do to stop him. I wish we had seen more performances like this over the years from him. There would be no doubt about where he would stand in school history.-I'm really glad the foul shooting got at least a little better in the second half. I would have hated to be in that lockerroom at halftime. I know we struggle at the line and I've accepted this, but that first half was just totally unacceptable. Especially guys like Dru and Ced who are supposed to nail those in their sleep. Heck for a while it was looking like Wood was our best foul shooter.-The North side Rowdies don't deserve the seats they sit in. On the south side we are up and into the game all the time. North side looks more like the alumni most games. I thought we had a rule that you stand up and be loud all game long or you get booted? -Listening to the postgame it sounded like KD wants to get the bench some more minutes at Duquesne and rest the starters a bit, but he isn't going to sacrifice the game to do so. Can't say I disagree with him, but I hope we get out to a nice comfortable lead and have the luxury of giving McKnight, Conyers, Goddard, Sallee and <gulp> even Rybak some more minutes.-Final thought: Its nice to pull down a W when you don't have your best night.

Other side of that is we win tonight and we lock up a bye for the tournament.
