11:53 to go in the half. 22-13 Zips. Wood and Dials seem to have the hot hands tonight.
-
Rybak with a blocked shot. Who knew???
-
Dials with 8 points already and going to the foul line. 10-6 Zips.
-
Buffalo's band just did a really bad rendition of the National Anthem. Gotta give them credit though, doing the U.S. anthem instead of the Canadian.

The point guard position is very important to next years success. However, assuming Steward comes along and can handle that position (from what I've heard it sounds like McNees is more of a 2 guard) we MAY have a bigger problem on our roster in 08-09. By then we will be without Middleton, Dials and Goddard. That leaves only McNees right now at that 2 guard position. In fact, after next year we will only have 2 guards on our roster if I'm looking at everything right. Steward and McNees.

If I am thinking right one more win or one more Miami loss and we secure at least the 3 seed. I could be wrong though, don't hold me to that.

Theres a road win for ya. 87-74.
-
78-70, 3:07 to go. Quade with about 4 big rebounds in the last minute. 2 at each end of the floor. Maybe that hard knock to the floor earlier woke him up???
-
With all these fouls to Wood, Romeo and Quade where is McKnight?
-
Wood fouls out and gives the Dukes a 3 point play opportunity.
-
Who is that guy in John Rybaks uniform tonight???
-
7:53 to go 68-65 Zips. Rome with 3 fouls and Wood with 4.
-
Zips playing sloppy and turning it over. Duquesne to within 7 and going to the line to complete the 3 point play. 60-53.
-
He's back up and looks like he's walking it off. Held my breath there for a minute.
-
I hope not. I actually want to see him on the bench more than the floor the second half. We're gonna need games like that BG one against Buffalo and Can't. Tonight is essentially worthless.

43-32 at the half. Zips went on a 7-0 run to end it up.Another figure it out. John Rybak, save a travel (which who wouldn't walk a lil bit when the refs haven't been calling them much) has a 3, a rebound and an assist and looks halfway competent. Minutes breakdown for those of us who care:Travis-13Conyers-10Wood-12Dials-20Joyce-15Middleton-13McKnight-4Milum-11Rybak-2

36-32 Zips with 1:29 in the half. Zips have started playing to the Dukes pace and its not a good idea. Too many quick shots.
-
27-15 with 7:51 to go. Duquesne turning it over a lot and surprisingly they're the ones who can't hit a free throw. They've made 1 of 5. Meanwhile we are 5 of 6 at the line. Figure that one out.
-
Duquesne playing really sloppy. Turned it over 6 times. Akron up 20-3 early. Keep this up and put the bench in for most of the second half.
-
Just announced that Conyers is starting in place of Linhart who has two breaks in his thumb. Other than that no changes to the starting lineup.KD doesn't sound positive about whether Nate will be back anytime this season, but doesn't seem to have totally ruled it out.

What I want to see tonight playing time wise:Dru-15 minutes (less than that if possible)Dials-15 minutes (less if possible)Cedrick-15 minutes Goddard-15 minutesSallee-20 minutes (sort of a tryout for next year to see how he does in extended minutes at PG)Sowers-10 minutesConyers-30 minutes (get the kid on the court as much as possible)McKnight-30 minutes (see Conyers)Romeo-15 minutes (less if possible)Wood-15 minutes (less if possible)Quade-20 minutesCarroll-10 minutesRybak-5 minutesWhat I think we WILL see tonight:Dru-30 minutes Dials-25 minutes Cedrick-25 minutes Goddard-5 minutesSallee-5 minutes Conyers-20 minutes McKnight-15 minutes Romeo-25 minutes Wood-20 minutes Quade-20 minutesRybak-10 minutes

Problem being that guards traditionally tend to fall on draft day. Its not usually a high priority position even if it is an area of need. Rarely will you ever see more than one guard taken in the first round and a lot of times you won't even see a guard taken in round 1. The best guards usually tend to go early to mid-round 2 and there is almost always some good talent left by the time you get to round 3 and 4. Not a knock on Andy or any other guard in the draft. Just the nature of the position when it comes to draft day.

I really see little point in continuing this debate, mainly because the home season is over now and it is time to start regrouping for next year. However I will try one last time to emphasize my point.-First off, regardless of what you might want to think, a large portion of the North side was sitting quietly for well over half of the game. I have never once seen the North side do the jump, or really much of anything outside of Zfence and Lets Go Zips. The band being on the South side is completely irrelevant to the argument. Quite honestly, from where I sit I can't hear them when they aren't playing anyways.-Second off, and I've tried to make this point repeatedly to no avail. When something isn't working and you have an opportunity to do something different you need to take that opportunity. No, I have no idea if the Greeks would have wanted to sit down in those seats. I have no idea if they would have been any better than the deadbeats who have sat in them all year. What I do know is that they couldn't be much worse. You talk about not becoming the Cameron Crazies overnight, but you also don't become them by settling on the same old stuff that we've seen all year when you have a chance to change it up and POTENTIALLY make the section just a little bit better.

A.) Good for you, I didn't think they BOTH were.B.) Yeah, I've noticed them. I'm not blind. I've noticed the same thing every game I've been to (quite a few). The South Side pretty close to if not full and on their feet and loud all game. A few diehards on the East side of the North Section standing and making a little noise and the "seat fillers" sitting on their hands doing nothing. All I'm saying is that with a little creative planning last night COULD have been different. It also COULD have established some new Rowdy Rowdies to build on for next year by bringing in some new blood. I'm not saying it would have happened that way. I'm merely saying that I would have prefered that alternative to the same old same old.C.) As long as your actually on your feet and you make noise at appropriate times thats cool. Just don't sit on your hands and do nothing.D.) Again, I don't know for certain that the greeks would have been louder. BUT, I do know that when the status quo CLEARLY isn't working you need to do something to shake it up. Last night was a perfect opportunity and it was wasted.

Someone please explain the fascination with Goddard to me. I just don't get it. He's a freak show. Fun to watch in warmups while he takes his 35 footers, many of them from the opposing teams bench, but when he gets in the game he's still acting like that. To me he's a smaller version of Bubba Walther without the mood swings. Hoisting up ridiculous threes with no regard for anything else, if he hits them maybe he can bury you, but if not he's a liability on the court. I've seen nothing to indicate that he can play solid defense and his speed is lackluster at best.
