By the time this has an issue # attached to it, and the campaign starts, the only thing that will be associated with the issue is the need of the sheriff's department. There will be opposition, it's a tax issue, but the major call is the sheriff's needs and that will be the campaign push. There is a reason this was announced 7 months before it will ever appear on the ballot, come October, most people will only see the ballot issue as a call for more money for the sheriff's department.

Ohio does not allow Sin Tax for public projects anymore, so that isn't an option. Cuyahoga County had to get special permission to even ask for the extension to go on the ballot.

The real question isn't whether Summit County values the Zips, it's whether Summit County sees a need for improvements to the Sheriff's Department and Jail. If the issue goes to ballot (Summit County Council has to pass it on the 12th), that is what will be marketed. That is what will gain the support of all the unions in the county and that is how the idea will be sold moving forward. The Arena is only 1/3 of the issue. You will see a lot of stories about how bad the jail is, how outdated the equipment is, how understaffed the sheriff's department is. Too many are seeing this as solely and arena ballot, and it's not. It's a services ballot with an economic driver attached to it. Sales tax to benefit the sheriff's department and an economic investment to ideally increase entertainment sales inside the county.

What the hell are you talking about? People in Bath Montrose shop in N.Canton? No, they go to Crocker Park in Cuyahoga County. And last I heard Montrose isn't hurting for consumers at all. If it's been cited, then list the citation. Again, if tax mattered, then Crocker Park and Beachwood would be flopping because they are in a county with a 1.25% higher tax rate with the addition of an alcohol tax for all their restaurants. The only person here trying to fill facts with hope is you sir. The naivety here is in your insistence that everyone leaves a county to save pennies. It doesn't happen. Do you know why Belden works, the honest reason, that accounts for all variables? Southern Summit County has the heaviest population, there are more shopping options and the highway access is more direct then going to Summit Mall, period. Has nothing to do with a .25% tax difference that a conservative think tank says "impacts shopping". You seem well educated. The least you can do is look where your information source is coming from before throwing stuff like that out there. People shop where they have the most options or most convenience, cents to the dollar matters very little in shopping decisions.

He said the University spends too much, meaning between the cost of athletics and the revenue athletics generates, the University has to spend too much on that remainder. Common concern with all Universities outside of the top 7-8 athletics programs. The goal, and athletics has already started, is to reduce that gap, part of that is having winning programs that draw more fans, part of that is finding more sponsors/donors, and the last part of it is pushing your conference to get better revenue rights for broadcasting (or finding one that already has that).

Yes?

So if we are talking about Belden and the advantage of 6.50% tax, explain to me why Crocker Park and Beachwood are so popular? People from every county in NEO go to Cuyahoga County (8% plus sin tax) to eat and shop; 100's of thousands of people shop in these places every week. So much so, that Crocker Park is expanding. Do people really care? People don't like tax, they will holler about an increase, but the reality is, it doesn't change behavior. People go to Belden because the choices are better, it sure isn't to save 25 cents on their $100 jeans. And the real reason for the success of these particular malls...demographics, and you know to what I' am alluding.

No, they would be placing the arena between the Mayflower and Kaiser buildings. The only thing that isn't already parking lot in the current plan is the three building directly next to the Mayflower. Used to be a nightclub but are a bar & grille, a temp center, and what looks to be abandoned.

Looked at both sheets on a high res screen. First uni posted was our navy blue, Coach's "option" tweet is black. So the intent would be to pull out black for a special occasion, blackout game, homecoming etc. There are also two helmet options, chrome gold with Z and chrome blue facemask, and one all chrome gold with no logo currently.

Position drills can lead to agitation, they are both d-lineman, they have to hit against each other in position drills.

Wow, the team threw itself under the bus this season by being horribly inconsistent. This team played as though they were vastly superior to every opponent and failed at it. Has little to do with Dambrot, has everything to do with a wake up call to the players. They did not play like an Akron team that we were used to seeing over the last 5 years. No hustle, no tempo control, strictly playing to their opponent. I do feel Dambrot should consider looking for a coach with more offensive experience to put in a true offense that fits the team, but there is nothing else Dambrot could do when the players literally refused to put forth a consistent effort.

Noticed in the first Spring Practice update that coach was wearing an Under Armour pull over. No Akron Logos, just wondering if there is anything in the old Adidas contract that would prevent that? Is it possible that Under Armour is the new uniform supplier for football?

2014 season confirmed. 4 Tuesday night Nov games (2 Home, 2 Away). The best part of the schedule is the start of MAC play, Eastern Michigan at Home, and Miami at Home. That is great opportunity to build momentum before facing Ohio in Athens.

Yes, yes, you are, I notice you didn't PM me. Typical Neanderthal mental process...escalate to violence, get outsmarted, use vulgarity. I assume this thread will get locked because of you. So to bring this back on topic... It kind of sucks that the MAC can't keep their coaches. Which is honestly why we aren't a bigger conference and don't illicit the fan support we should. I see LoZ creeping.

So, you are the type of person that actually makes public threats on forums, after initiating the insult chain, yet I'm childish? LOL, if you really want to fight, which is hilarious and stupid, PM me the time of day you are coming and we can settle this...like...men And why should I get home field advantage? Embarrassed of where you live or something?
-
Actually it doesn't, I was there at the pep rally when he said it, tool bag. It was right before we played VA Tech. It's a word for word quote. "What the hell is a Hokie anyway, some kind of stupid turkey or something, at least we know what the hell we is...we's a ZIP!" Again, you prove my point, you can only understand the black and white that is front of you. No room for higher level thinking.
-
The only trolls on here are you and the rest of the Suckeye fans that think Akron is an inferior program. And let's not discuss mental abilities since you can't even fathom something other than what is black and white in front of you, and you struggle with identifying that 95% of the time. Go back to bucknuts.

Well it has been pretty obvious you need the simplest things pointed out to you.

That's like saying "kind of depressing to think $1 million is better than $100,000." If people would show up to MAC games regardless of having gone to the school, kind of like some place I know in Central Ohio, then we wouldn't lose coaches like this because the conference would have more money. There is no reason the MAC Championship game shouldn't be played in front of 50,000 or more fans. There were less fans in Detroit then at the NIU @ Toledo game. And it's not quality of product, I watch a lot of football, and 8 out 10 times the MAC game is more exciting then the "Big school game" (fortunately we don't televise UMASS that much)
-
Now DiG, you know very well that facts have never put an end to discussions on this board.

^Coming from a Suckeye fan, Michigan not being good sure is helping out the Big 10. You always want your rival to be good, because it proves how great you are when you beat them. Look at Akron vs OU and Akron vs Can't in basketball.

I would say more to the point of this is that Ohio is so well educated that most of us realize that a "naughty word" isn't that big of a deal and would indicate that the state is less puritanical then the other states on that list. The bigger concern is the pleasantries and gratefulness that is lacking in Ohio. I know I was raised to appreciate everything that another person does for you because; quite frankly, they didn't have to do it, it is a free country after all and a person who lends a helping hand has to make a conscious decision to use their freedoms to help you out. So I f#$%ing appreciate these info-graphics.

Michigan State regardless of a win or loss will be in the Rose Bowl. If OSU wins they will likely go to the BCS, sure ESPN will have you believe otherwise, but OSU will be at 2 and have beaten a top 10 team in a championship game. They would earn enough computer points from that to stay ahead of Auburn (the only other team with any real shot). NIU will not end up in the Rose Bowl, it fills with PAC 12/BIG 10 so since two BIG 10 schools will be BCS Bowl eligible, Michigan State goes to the Rose Bowl. NIU is looking to be Fiesta Bowl bound. Which likely will be the Big 12 winner (OCan't State).

I did not realize this at the time, but 4-4 in Conference play is our best finish since 2005. That really was an abysmal 7 years.
