  1. Look for an announcement in the near future regarding upgrades to the JAR.
  2. He gotta be careful, someone might be trying to steal our gameplan!
  3. This one will stick in my mind, however it turns out, I will remember this quote: ''I think Akron is a sleeping giant. You have got to give them two or three more years. The way they can coach and recruit, this is going to be a juggernaut.'' I'm having a hard time believing anything from a guy named Lemming.
  4. Dambrot and the Zips have gotten a lot of good press this week because of Shaka and VCU.
  5. OK, I watched the Fronline video. It still doesn't answer my question about this years Zips seniors. I do agree with the class action lawsuit. I've stayed out of the OSU/Tressel debate, but I think the players should have been able to sell their souvenirs. Once someone gave them those items, it became their personal property and they should have the right to do with it as they please. If they don't want them to sell the trinkets, they shouldn't be given until after they leave school.
  6. Did you watch the Frontline story? No, I didn't watch.
  7. So Akron has a 0% graduation rate for black basketball players last season. Brett McKnight and Darryl Roberts aren't going to graduate?
  8. I guess he finally found this thread.
  9. News to me? Me too. I guess if being the knife in the back of Dan Hipsher is a better job, then so be it....someone had to put Hip and Zips fans out of their misery, why not KD? After being the knife, then he did have a better job. Tarver was the knife that ended DHip's run. With help from Hollingsworth. It's not uncommon for me to be in agreement with a lot of GP's edgy comments, but I can't roll with this one. Mount Saint Hipsher had no knives in his back. His explosive personality burnt his players out early. Gambles on troubled souls like Carson, Tarver, Hollingsworth, Melton, etc, coupled with a crappy son and a crippled son blew up in his face. He died by his own sword, not one in his back. I'm thinking Mrs. Hipshers outstanding performances at a few road games might have irked his boss a bit also.
  10. That is awesome. I was thinking yesterday I wanted to go back and see who offered their players and how many stars they got from rivals. But I'm lazy, so I'll just post this image from VCU's campus. Thats actually at the River Walk entrance to the Alamo Dome, but it's still damn funny!
  11. When I went there it was refered to as Hill Top High.
  12. We have YouTube Tom at the helm. A successful hire would be a given. Don't sweat it.
  13. I'm sorry for high-jacking your thread 71. I didn't mean to imply that those players weren't worthy of their HOF status. I too find it amazing that all those great players were on the same All American team in 66-67.
  14. I am NOT buying into that one at all. There were plenty of black players at major universities in those days. And Phil Jackson was not black, even then. Not in the south. Here is a team picture of the 1966 Alabama football team. Try and find just one black player. SEC
  15. It might have to do with the fact that most of the large southern schools(SEC) were still mostly segregated. Those great black players were relegated to the smaller schools that would accept them.
  16. That looks great. It cost $75 million in 1996, wonder what it would cost now. Van Andel Arena
  17. I saw him play twice this season. He's got some serious athletic ability. I don't know if he is ready for D-1 basketball right now, but if you could red-shirt him, I would take the chance. He would be a great addition to the Zips.
  18. There was no defense played by either team in the second half of that game.
  19. If you're going to make really sick jokes, you should really learn how to use the emoticons. Otherwise, to the casual user, you just look like a bigoted ass.
  20. My answer hasn't changed, either. We first need to prove that we can handle the OOC schedule we have now before trying to increase its strength. If the Zips go 0-5 in their 5 toughest OOC games one season, it does no good to schedule 7 tough OOC games the next season. All that does is make it less likely to have a 20-win season, and will do nothing to help earn an NCAA tournament at-large berth should the Zips not win the MAC tournament championship. Here's the 5-step process: 1. Schedule a modest number of tough OOC games. (DONE) 2. Win a fair percentage of tough OOC games. (NOT DONE) 3. Schedule an increasing number of tough OOC games. (PENDING COMPLETION OF STEP 2) 4. Win an increasing percentage of tough OOC games. (PENDING COMPLETION OF STEPS 2 AND 3) 5. Become recognized as a national basketball power and earn consideration for an NCAA at-large bid. (PENDING COMPLETION OF STEPS 2, 3 AND 4) Dave, We seem to be pretty much on the same page here. But, I don't think it makes any difference if we lose 7 OOC games instead of 5 OOC games since we can't get an at-large bid in either scenario. The important thing for me is that we at least have the opportunity for an at-large by putting the teams on the schedule that would impress people if we can win them. Yes, 20-win seasons are great. But, if the wins aren't good enough to give you a chance at an at-large, it means very little to me anymore. Kids who are winners, want to play for winning programs. Getting your A$$ handed to you 3-4 times per year by playing highmajors on their home court without the possibility of a return home game is useless. After 6 20 win seasons and 5 trips to the MAC championship, we are finally starting to see some interest from a better quality of player than we ever saw before. No offense to the old timers on this board(I'm one of them), but those teams from the sixties and seventies we all remember would get blown out of the gym by our current teams. Winning attracts winners.
  21. In the video, its apparent the he can use both hands while finishing at the basket. Early on he makes a nice move and finishes with a left handed dunk. Later he does the same thing with his right hand. Very impressive.
  22. It looks like everyone who wanted tickets got them. My seats were great.(except for the guy with the big head seated directly in front of me ) Nick Lachey was sitting in the row behind us and caused quite a stir among the young ladies seated near us.
  23. I watched the whole game. It looked like a typical MAC game to me. St. Marys star player was awful. The commentators described how he seemed to have hit some kind of wall a few weeks ago and has played like crap since. Justin Greene kept StM in the game by turning the ball over everytime he got it in the lane. But he made the layup at the end that proved to be the game winner. So far,the MAC is undefeated in post season play .
  24. Interesting, because this was NOT how it was in Portland. All of the Zips fans were together in the 100 section. I guess I'll see what I have when I get there! I think thats because there were only about 100 of us Zips fans total in Portland.
  25. Tickets are gone. Thanks for looking.
