  1. My niece is a Toccoa Falss grad. I think they have about 5 buildings.
  2. I would bet it might look more like professional soccer. P5 and P5 lite. The lesser P5 teams would serve as cannon fodder for the upper P5 programs. Maybe some sort of relagation system for the P5 lite programs to move up and down if they perform well enough. That way the big guys keep all the money. The G5 will become glorified FCS.
  3. Ryan Prather
  4. For some reason links to Twitter/X are not working today.
  5. I have letter to my father from one of his highschool classmates in the early 1950's. The friend was bemoaning the fact that the University of Tennessee (where he was an all american football player) basketball coach wanted him to play that sport too. The problem.was they only wanted to pay him half of what the football team was paying for his services. 🫠
  6. Correct
  7. Matt is a great guy. He always puts his money where his mouth is. Anybody here interested in doing the same? Send me PM and I will tell you how to make that happen.
  8. No loss here. The guy was not worth the bad attitude.
  9. What are your organs worth? An average QB probably is anout $50k/season.
  10. It was his t-shirt cannon moment.
  11. The NCAA opened the gate to allow transfers. They need to stop picking who can pass through.
  12. Everything is on the App.
  13. https://570wkbn.iheart.com/content/2022-11-04-the-attendance-at-fcs-football-games-and-ysu/ "Did we build FCS stadiums too large? At one time they were right sized for Youngstown State. It was common to see 20 thousand turn out for a Penguin game. In this day and age 12,000 is a good crowd and that has not happened much this year. Saturday 65 and sunny was poorly attended. Despite some of the best facilities in division one football, the fans are not turning out. Youngstown has a complete indoor practice facility, convenient athletic quarters, and top-notch competition in the Missouri Valley conference, but the fans want to see Ohio State and Penn State. " Same problems as us. There is no rabid fan base clamoring for a match-up between UA and YSU.
  14. He needs 8 credits in the spring semester to graduate. He is already carrying a full class load this semester.
  15. There is absolutely no upside in playing YSU. Anybody who thinks it's a no-brainer is brainless. The miniscule jump in attendance it might provide is not worth giving a regional lower level school a chance for bragging rights.
  16. From a Facebook post about the Rubberbowl. Don Buckey is a local HS legend. He and his brother Dave stared at Kenmore and later at NC St in the late 60's early 70's. What he said holds true today.
  17. Sometimes sacrifices must be made in the short term to get where you want to be in life. Short of finding some other donors like Matt Kaulig, this is the only way to get the funds needed. Akron is not exactly brimming with deep pocketed corporate donors. Dr Miller has spent his entire tenure trying to get the finances of UA under control. He has made significant progress with more to come. Guthrie has done the same in the athletic department. Change in large entities is hard and sometimes people don't like the changes. See the complaints on here about paying for parking or the menu at the club level. Sometimes, you can't have your cake and eat it too!
  18. You are wrong on many counts. Miller has been great as the President of UA. He has been working hard to undo all the damage done by Proenza etc... Guthrie has raised the level of accountability in the atheletic department to a much higher standard. Pretty soon you will see where this money is going. It won't be to fund trips and amenities. It will be to improvements in facilities that will benefit fans and athletes. If you feel otherwise you really should just walk away.
  19. I'm thankful Cuba let our plane fly over on the way home from Cayman yesterday so we could enjoy being at home today.😉
  20. Ali is a good student. Academics are not an issue. He is on track to graduate in the spring. If he had stayed at Butler that would not be the case. Coming back to Akron was a good move for him to get a degree.
  21. Prather has been hampered by injuries. He is very effective scorer but not a great defender. Hopefully his time to get some meaningful minutes is coming soon.
  22. Kentucky was never going to come here to play. We are getting a hefty payout from them and another one from OSU. That money will be invested in improvements at Infocision Stadium.
  23. We were flat from the start of the game. T Johnson and Thornton were no shows. Dawson was frustrated and took some really bad shots. Utah decided not to double and triple team Freeman so there weren't many open shots from the outside. On to the next game.
