  1. You are wrong on many counts. Miller has been great as the President of UA. He has been working hard to undo all the damage done by Proenza etc... Guthrie has raised the level of accountability in the atheletic department to a much higher standard. Pretty soon you will see where this money is going. It won't be to fund trips and amenities. It will be to improvements in facilities that will benefit fans and athletes. If you feel otherwise you really should just walk away.
  2. I'm thankful Cuba let our plane fly over on the way home from Cayman yesterday so we could enjoy being at home today.😉
  3. Ali is a good student. Academics are not an issue. He is on track to graduate in the spring. If he had stayed at Butler that would not be the case. Coming back to Akron was a good move for him to get a degree.
  4. Prather has been hampered by injuries. He is very effective scorer but not a great defender. Hopefully his time to get some meaningful minutes is coming soon.
  5. Kentucky was never going to come here to play. We are getting a hefty payout from them and another one from OSU. That money will be invested in improvements at Infocision Stadium.
  6. We were flat from the start of the game. T Johnson and Thornton were no shows. Dawson was frustrated and took some really bad shots. Utah decided not to double and triple team Freeman so there weren't many open shots from the outside. On to the next game.
  7. I think our loud and angry fan base was a decided adavantage to our guys. Late in the game Sammy looked back and started waving his arms at us to get louder. I admit that I did have a few choice words for the refs during opportune moments of quiet! 😤
  8. It's only about a 3 1/2 flight to Grand Cayman. They arrive Friday afternoon and don't play their first game until Sunday. They should be well rested. I will make sure that none of them get pulled behind a boat on a inflatable banna this trip.
  9. Not going for the 2 point conversion after we scored in the first overtime. We had momentum. Play to win!
  10. Pretty sure Groce's roster is set for the season
  11. Uh, ok. Have a nice day.
  12. How do you think they paid for all the other improvements? BTW, I forgot about the new turf at Infocision.
  13. Do you think these events have no cost to produce? I hope you just forgot to insert the sarcasm emoji.
  14. Nobody is going to sit at an outside facility to watch March basketball in NE Ohio.
  15. The issue is not technical, it is financial. The new scoreboard is going to be about $1 million. Athletics doesn't have an unlimited budget. Just in the last year or so they have funded a new outdoor track facilty, new sound system for soccer, a practice gym for basketball, a video scoreboard and training system for swimming and diving, mandated padding and fencing for baseball and softball fields, an upgraded weight room for football. I'm sure there are more that I haven't listed. There is a plan to fund the new scoreboard. It would happen faster is someone were to step up with a big donation. I can see it now, The GREAT GP 1 scoreboard at the Bg Dialer!
  16. Revealed last night, he is also a Swiftie! The team loves him.
  17. There will be a list at the door. See you there!
  18. At least you are consistant! Lol
  19. Prior to this season, your $500 ticket got you nothing but a seat. I find the level of entitlement in todays world exasperating. Sorry that menu (typical tailgate fare) not up to your standards. The vast majority of the $500 ticket is actually a donation to the Z-Fund which is used to support the student athletes. https://x.com/Akron_Z_Fund?t=HYsvZ4yh8qr0pULIh89N-w&s=09
  20. Lol! It might take $50 to keep them.
  21. Food and a cash bar. A chance to mingle with the players and coaching staff in a relaxed atmosphere. A short program to introduce everybody. Usually a trivia game by the players about Zips related subjects. Overall an enjoyable event.
  22. I just threw that number out there to stimulate conversation about the impact of the NIL. Maybe $50k is a more reasonable #.
  23. I totally support the idea that people can bitch all they want. But bitching about things doesn't accomplish anything. If you want a winning program you need to play by the rules of NIL. A good QB transfer will want to get paid.
  24. All you guys bitching on here about the QB play need to put your money where your mouth is. If you want a talented QB, it takes money in this NIL day and age. I'll start a go fund me page to finance it. It should only cost about $150k.
