  1. Later this month or early June is what I am hearing as the timetable for hiring the new coach.
  2. Austin isn't even the best athlete in his family. His younger brother is quite the specimen. Pretty sure he will be a Zip too. http://www.maxpreps.com/m/career/default.aspx?careerid=30d8a19d-4a48-e611-bef0-a0369f3c1b4c
  3. Zipmeister is a Dayton area resident. I think the point he is making is that Williams is a very gifted athlete but not necessarily a gifted student. The idea that he would have to sit out and attend class for a year in order to play his last year at another institution seems strange.
  4. Maybe he can pull off what Antino did last year and get enough credits to get his degree over the summer to be a grad transfer. He would be eligible to play right away.
  5. Looks like he can play the point. "2018 Suncoast Conference First Team selection, Cheese ranked second on the team in scoring (15.1 points) and led the squad in assists (6.6) this season. His 6.6 assists per game ranked second-best in Region VIII and ranked 13th in the nation. He scored in double figures 21 times during the season, including scoring a career-high 40 points (13-of-26 shooting from the field and 13-of-15 from the charity stripe) against IMG (Jan. 5). The owner of only triple-doubles (2) in program history (vs. IMG on Jan. 5, 2018 - 40 points, 15 rebounds, 14 assists; vs. Central Fla. on Mar. 3, 2018 - 36 points, 12 assists, 10 rebounds), Cheese scored 793 points during his career at FSW."
  6. E-man is supposed to get medical clearance to go back to full contact practice this week. He is hitting the weight room hard to put back the muscle mass he lost during his time off. At this time the future looks bright.
  7. Even OHSAA is seeing a decline in attendance for all sports. http://www.cantonrep.com/sports/20180416/canton-still-waiting-on-status-of-2018-high-school-football-state-finals “The overall trend — not just in high school sports, but in college and pro sports — is the number of people buying tickets is going down,” said Stried, who said Ohio’s attendance numbers are still among the best in the country. “I don’t think there’s just one reason for that. It’s a combination of several factors and we’re trying to identify things that we can do to help attendance. It’s still up to the consumer about where to go out that night, but we’re asking ourselves, ‘What are the things we can do to make it easier for them?’” Digging deeper, there are two really troubling trends from the OHSAA’s perspective. One, high school attendance in central Ohio is down in every sport, not just football. This is a bad sign considering it’s also the part of Ohio that is growing the most. (In general, northeast Ohio and southwest Ohio typically draw the largest crowds, Stried said.) The second troubling trend is that student sections are getting smaller. “There are exceptions — like (Cincinnati) Moeller at this year’s state basketball tournament — but overall, it’s kind of a trend that mirrors the overall attendance,” Stried said. The 2017 state cross country tournament actually posted the second-highest attendance in history at 12,054, but the OHSAA’s two biggest revenue sources are ticket sales from football and boys basketball — and both are trending down.
  8. There are 2 open scholarships.
  9. Gatehouse papers do seem to be more community oriented. Expect significant staff reductions.
  10. Millions a year in debt service for the football stadium doesn't help.
  11. Show me the law that says athletes at UA are required to recite prayers (Christian or otherwise) as a condition of their participation in their particular sport.
  12. Thanks for moving this to the appropriate forum.
  13. Semantics my friend. Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Just because over the last 2000+ years the modern Christian church has decided to celebrate on a particular day changes nothing. It is ironic that this year Easter does fall on the traditional Jewish Passover Holiday. Jesus became the ultimate Passover lamb who gave his life for our sins. Yours too if you choose to accept the gift of Gods grace. Peace.
  14. Nick McCausland is one of my neighbors. Comes from a great soccer family. Green has a pretty good program at the D-1 level reaching the final 4 during Nicks junior year. Should be fun to watch him develop.
  15. I've been told it's a logistics problem. No place in the JAR to support the infrastructure needed.
  16. We're going to have co-defensive coordinators this year. A member of the current staff plus a blast from the past. I can't divulge who just yet. Let's see who makes the right guesses.
  17. Everybody needs to take a deep breath and count to 10.
