  1. I think this is yet another example of being "factually correct." (One of my all-time favorite means of stating - "You're right, but I'm not going to admit it.")
  2. That schedule would be a murder's row.
  3. No one is discussing our current team. Everyone (almost?) knows you're a pretty long shot to make a tournament with 9 active scholarship players, 5 of whom are Freshman. The discussion is regarding why some people think what's possible/expected for North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, Ohio U, MTSU and on and on and on... is somehow impossible for The University of Akron.
  4. MTSU is a great example of a MAC-equivalent program that can field a good mid-major D1 football team while also winning games in the NCAA basketball tourney.
  5. I predicted 20 also, including 2 wins in the MAC tourney. While it is looking dicey right now, I am also remaining positive about this season. We lost to USC, Princeton and Davidson in Hawaii, and followed it with a loss to preseason MAC West favorite WMU in Kalamazoo. Those are 4 tough teams. Hopefully the difficult road tests have set the table for a solid performance at Toledo. The follow up, Buffalo, is a daunting task, but we have them at home where we've been very good. Just as UA high school commits are blessed to receive a scholarship offer, Zips fans are blessed that Malcolm Duvivier decided to come to UA for his final year of eligibility. The kid brings it every night on both ends of the floor. Whatever win total the Zips garner in 2017-18, you can divide it by 2 if Duvivier weren't playing. I hope his toughness and will to win rubs off on the young guys.
  6. Zipmeister and ZipsWin post? Can GP1 be far behind? Happy to have K92 back.
  7. I don't know whether or not Hughes is a baller, but if he was looking for playing time, he should have stuck with the Zips. Another transfer that would have made some hay this year is Dunn-Martin. We have no true point guard. Ivey is getting some assists...2-guard Duvivier is doing his best...Cotton needs to improve in all aspects. Dunn-Martin could shoot, and did an ok job handling the rock. I don't know where he'd fit in in 2018-19, but in 2017-18 he'd be having a blast hoisting 3's and getting a ton of time at the point.
  8. Draw your own parallels to 2017-18 Zips football and basketball
  9. Kent loses to Albany by 10.
  10. Zips defensive rotations are s-l-o-w.
  11. Akron/Davidson tips off in 5 minutes on ESPNU.
  12. Duvivier is cold blooded. Wish we could have closed that one out. Would have been a big one for this young team.
  13. Anyone else notice USC beat a really good MTSU team today? USC looks to be on a roller coaster this year. We seems to have caught them on an upswing.
  14. Zips fans drank too muck Drano Nog after last nights clunker? Hoping to see an inspired 2nd half!
  15. Parrish back on track!
  16. Zips look like the better team. Hope the Zips solved the zone at the end half. Sayles with some nice minutes spelling E-man.
  17. Rats . I guess I need to leave the ZN.o questions up to Dr.Z.
  18. Trivia question for ZipsNation- "What does 'Z.I.P.' stand for?"
  19. Thank you, LZip. Great job!
  20. You can argue whether he merits a 2- or 3-year extension. But you can't argue that he doesn't merit an extension. No extension would have a very negative impact on recruiting. We need actions that have a positive impact on recruiting.
  21. I am in line with RowdyZip's opinion that these Zips seniors are the ones that bought-in on our program when it was coming off 3 consecutive 1-11 seasons. Can you really expect to compete with Toledo recruiting/athletes when you're strapped with that kind of baggage? Give Toledo Tom Wistercill and Rob I-and-II-o for three seasons and maybe it's a fair fight. We redshirted a lot of talented kids last year, and have a nice recruiting class shaping up this year. We're a solid, stable program now. We're beating the teams we should beat, and sneaking in another win or two when better teams overlook us. But we aren't at the level of a Toledo, and shouldn't expect to be in 2017. We should be good next season. 8 wins should be the bar, and we'll see if more wins are possible once we actually watch the product on the field.
  22. On the 4th down and TD plays, we were lucky if we touched the offensive player, let alone tackle him.
  23. We should have depth, and competition at every position next season. That will be a first for the Bowden era. The rebuilding is over. It is obvious we created separation from the MAC cellar in 2017, and it obvious we weren't yet ready for prime time. The days of taking steps backward are over. No excuses for 2018.
  24. 9 minutes left...make it stop...
  25. Assuming Woodson declined to mop up?
