  1. I don't think there will be any proeblem with her joining the oldies right?
  2. This is what they think of us:Just looked at Akrons schedule and their best win all year was against Temple. From a brief glance at their roster they don't have much size either. One guy 6'10 and another 6'9 both freshmen. We should win by at least 10.
  3. I saw it zip81. Great job again.
  4. Good one Gozips I remember when the hippies were flipping him up in the Mac center last year. If anything, we now know that he will never donate a penny or do anything to directly or indirectly help their institution.
  5. As far as the crowd ratio, it definitely was not 75-25 in favour of Can't. They did have more fans than us but only slightly. I would say 50% can't, 40% akron, and 10% neutrals who eventually cheered for Can't by the end of the game. However, being at the Q, you would look around and feel overwhelmed by the piss yellow you see every where and that is because of a small technicality that our Athletic/marketing department hasn't figured out yet. As a marketing department, you want your product to be distinguishable, so you design it in a way to stand out of the crowds. More than 90% of the shirts/gear worn by the flushes were piss yellow which is so easy to distinguish. You look in the stands you see a lot of yellow. While for us, it is a mess.around 50% of our gear are blue and the rest of them are from the whole rainbow. Rowdies and oldies shirts are blue, oldies hats are gold. Some people were wearing gold shirts, some were wearing white shirts with akron stuff on them. I have also seen girls wearing pink Akron gear and the guy who was on the halftime (video game thing) was wearing a BLACK akron shirt. So while Can't is yellow, Miami is red, BG is orange, Ohio is green, we do not seem to have an identity. I am hoping for a day when our teamshop will be selling only blue stuff so we can be more recognized.
  6. I'll assume you're speaking with too much emotion after a disappointing game. You're obviously a youngster because you don't seem to appreciate where this program was even just five years ago.I swear i will puke if i read this argument one more time. Why do people around here feel that Hipsher was the norm and that we should be happy with anything better than hipsher? it seems like some of the people around this program are so used to supporting mediocre teams that they don't expect anything good at all. In the last 4 years, Can't won 2 championships, miami won one, ohio won one, Toledo won regular season championship and we've been watching and biting our nails every year. But you expect me to be happy because we're not as crappy as the Hipsher's days!!!!!!!! There is nothing wrong with the guys KD recruits.Yes there is. They can't shoot free throws. They can't win championships. Some of them can't even contribute anything. See Milum, Conyers, and Bardo. They play hard, don't get into trouble, and graduateNewsflush! fans don't give a damn about who graduates and who doesn't and who gets in troouble or not. People pay money and go to games to see their teams winning.and we've made it to the MACC two years in a row.wooppy doo... they won 2 championships in the last 3 years. We won nothing and you're petting yourself on the shoulder. Can't's team is based on winning now because they use JUCO's. With their coach leaving and a few players graduating (losing eligibility is more like it), Can't's program could be in the in a year or two.back to the old non-sense. again, i don't care if they're juco or freshmen. i don't care about their discipline, their majors, where they're from, their shoe size, and the colors of their cars. They have a team that "within the NCAA rules and regulations" wins year in year out. They've had coaching changes, players graduating and they still win. And i should be happy because we're not as bad as we were 5 years ago? I'd really be disappointed if KD utilized Can't's program structure and won the MACC every couple years just to get flamed out of the NCAA tournament in the first round everytime.Yeah that would be reaaaallllyyy disappointing. Making the Mac champioship and loosing it by 17 points is much more fulfilling.Yes, I thought this could be the year, but I think the program will continue to improve. Our MACC's and NCAA tournament wins are in the cards, but not for this year.I agree with you on this one. Hope is a good thing. Let's lick our wounds, sleep on this ugly night. Tomorrow is a new day. Go Zips!
  7. LosAngelesZipFan - One of these days I'd LOVE to say goodbye forever to Ohio winters BUT I can't stand the thought of not being able to drive 15 minutes to the JAR to watch our Zips. Same with football season as disappointing as those have been for the most part. Can't wait to make the drive north in a little while and feel for ya. Great to know there are Zips fans all around the country and as far away as LA and HI cheering Akron on. Have fun this afternoon watching the game. GO ZIPS!!!Gozips88,I lived in Akron for 6 years. I thought it was the worst place on earth. This year, i got a job on the west borders of the state. I drive 5 hours round trip to the JAR/RB, and 6 hours to the Q/Browns stadium. I never thought i would say that, but i will accept a paycut if i can get job that keeps me close to my zips.
  8. So who will play at guard for us next year(s)HumptySullivanMcNeeseStewardRobertsBrooks6 freshman/sophmore scholarship players for 2 guard positions  it seems like someone will be transfering soon????
  9. Sorry my friend, not too worried about football today
  10. What?
  11. Wonder what Al Fischer and Doug Penno said to Dials after their "facials?"He needs to settle his butt down and just play the game.I totally agree.
  12. I am unable to get the chat applet to work.I think i don't have the MSJVM, i clicked on the link... it took me to a page of links, not sure how exactly can i download the java thing.help is appreciated.
  13. I think it is time to say farewell to Mr. Oshea. Unfortunately today marks the end of a legend, what a wonderful college career Mr. Walther had. What a steal Townsend had in him. Good luck in the NBA draft Bubba.
  14. I am glad to hear/read how impressive Humpty is. However, i will not build much on KD's comment, i remember he once said that Jimmy Conyers was the best player he has recruited in his career.
  15. The best thing out of today's game was that the rowdies revealed the truth about Can't State on the air:I was watching the the post game period on FSN-Ohio and the 2 guys behind the mics were in the Q talking about the stats etc...Some noise is suddenly heard in the background and the two guys start chuckling before one of them goes:The reason we're laughing is because a group of zips fans just passed behind us and they were chanting: "Can't state..." never mindProps to the rowdies for revealing the truth about the hippies. Not only that, but also :screwks:By the way, have i mentionned that ?
  16. Great to see KD resting the starters with about 3 minutes left. Usually he doesn't take that RISK untill the last 40 seconds. Even if we're up by 65
  17. Yes, i believe Ronnie had irregular heart beat earlier in the season.Best wishes to Tim.Tim and C. Coles in one day. A lot of heart trouble.
  18. Coach Coles is one of the best opponent coaches we ever played. I wish him the absolute best and a long, healthy rest of his life.
  19. I strongly believe that you need to crawl before you walk and that it is safer to climb the ladder one step at a time. I was looking at our performance in the MAC tournament in the previous years and here is what we did:2004: Hipsher's last year, lost in the first round in an away game and didn't even go to the Q/Gund arena 2005: Dambrot's first year, beat EMU in the first round, went to the Q/Gund arena but got beat by WMU in the 1/4 final2006: 23-10 NIT season, bye in the first round, beat WMU in the 1/4 final, but loose to toledo in the 1/2 final2007: 26-7 season, bye in the first round, beat CMU in the 1/4 final, Can't State in the 1/2 final, but loose to Miami in the final.2008: we have been moving from playing first round, to playing 1/4 final, to playing 1/2 final, to playing the final, to ..... (i don't want to jinx us by saying it) but you all get the point.
  20. The truth is Can't was the better team yesterday as they were the better team when we played them at their place. The refs blaming and crying has got to stop as it can go both ways. We got robbed in a couple of plays but we had some calls go our way too. The refs could have easily called the triple team in the last 15 seconds a foul instead of a steal by cedrick, but they didn't. The refs were not perfect but also not biased, they didn't effect the outcome of the game so let's not blame every loss on the refs.I honestly thought that can't wanted it more than us. You add that to the fact that they had a better talent on their roster and KD should get the credit for keeping the game as close as it was. Hammin dominated in the middle and limited J-wood who was still our best player. We didn't have any one who could match up with Al Fisher, not even come close. He was beating cedrick by at least a step to the hoop and cedrick is our fastest player. Let alone Fisher's poise and confidence to make the last basket where no one could guard him. Just like Penno.Chris Singletary, Sherman Rodriguez, underclassmen who can both come in and contribute minutes, points, rebounds, and defense. B. McKnight was the only underclassman who showed up to play yesterday. Heck even Linhart was a non-factor.You can say that Christian recruits JUCO, you can talk about his players' character, and how the flushes continuously get in trouble with the law all you want, the fact remains that Christian is putting a great team on the floor year in year out. Look at us on the other side, we have players who have been on scholarship for 2 years (Bardo, McNeese, C. McKnight) and even 3 years (Conyears) and we still cannot get much from them in our big games. And the sad thing is that this year is not our reloading year, next year is.Let's hope that the threes fall down at the Q and that next year's class include some immediate contributors.
  21. 8:30 left in the first half. 19-4 Can'twe had 3 airballs, 2 blocked shots we gave up a zillion offensive rebound and we can't do anything in the paint. The zips seem like kids playing against men. Where are our players?
  22. VCU just lost in the semi final of their conference. I don't think they have any chances to an at-large bid. NIT maybe.
  23. What do you all think about recruiting "non-local" kids. It seems that our roster is heavily based on OH/PA kids. Only Cedrick (Ill) and Conyers (MD) are from outside this area. The hippies, for example, have only one ohioan on their roster and have players from TX, FL, NJ, IN, MI and even Brazil.Same with Ohio who have players from TX, CA, and even europe. Is it that we do not recruit outside the area? or is that KD being a local guy wants to do it with the local kids? or maybe he's trying but we're still not very attractive at the national level?Have we ever had an international athlete? do we recruit internationals at all?
  24. KD does not do that. Last years, zach sowers didn't play a minute in the senior night.
  25. I have been thinking a lot lately about recruiting and what can we do to improve the level of talent and athleticism in our future classes. After 4 years of 20+ wins, the word should be out there that the zips are for real and our coaches should be able to sell Akron as a top midmajor and not only a promissing team anymore.I am not trying to to start another RPI thread here, but let us assume that the RPI is an indication of teams' status and let's assume that that a certain local recruit will only consider going to a top 100 team. Do you know how many top 100 RPI schools is there in the state of Ohio?Drum Roll.... 9 (Akron, Can't, Ohio, Miami, Xavier, Dayton, Clev. State, wright state, and OSU)9 top 100 teams in the state excluding Cincinnati which is 106 !!!!That's not the whole story, look at how the top 100 teams are located by state:OH 9CA 8TX 7IN 6NC 6TN 5NY 4PA 4Other states 3 teams or less.Holly crap. A local kid who wan't to stay relatively close to home has a choice of 19 schools in Oh, Pa, and Indiana. That's a lot of competition to KD and his crew. What can we do to stand out? any ideas?
