  1. Pretty sure it's just D-1 men's basketball. The poster is a long-time scout from Akron.
  2. Stuck, indeed!
  3. With the acquisition of Prince Mosengo, it might open up the opportunity for additional mining of talent from this really outstanding new prep school Keystone Academy in Erie, PA. According to this story, @BCJoeMo already has one of Prince's teammates on his squad. https://www.goerie.com/story/sports/high-school/2022/04/10/keystone-athletic-academy-kings-players-raise-recruiting-stock-1st-season-dellquan-warren/7041831001/
  4. I'm seeing Kobe Mitchell and Nate Johnson as the odd men out. How long will they last?
  5. Great job, HT. This's what we hired you for!
  6. I've seen that John Cistone (Sr. that is, I went to Green with junior before he transferred to St Vs) is a member of the Akron Hall of Fame. However, it appears his greatest performances were in baseball rather than football.
  7. I just looked at Gozips.com MBB 22-23 roster. The 9 remaining. The additions won't go up till start of the school year, BUT... Nate Johnson and Kobe Mitchell are both listed as sophomores. What's up with that? Neither played at all as true frosh. No red shirts?
  8. Damn! I'll start by saying how much I DON'T care about logos. Today is literally the first time I've looked at this ZipsNation thread! Post obligatory: It's just too cartoonish looking for me. The best comment was on Zips Athletics Facebook, "It looks like something my 10 y.o. made with Microsoft Paint!" 🤣 BUT, the best part of this entire exercise was that AMAZING video. Whoever did that should get more work from the U. I LOVED the oldtime video outtakes like Lenny Paul -AND...was that Keith Dambrot rounding the bases?? 😚
  9. This kid's listed on the roster at UNLV. Is he in the portal, after time at TCU, Unlv?
  10. The Bracketbusters failed because 90% of the games -- the non-televised ones -- were meaningless. It was great for those of us in the Top 10% though, and I can only hope the idea gains steam.
  11. That's Canton Central Catholic? Wasn't sure it still existed!
  12. I agree with your sentiment, but your underlying statement is the university is only as good as its athletic teams. Please rethink!
  13. That's weird...Marco sounds like a native Liverpudlian, doesn't he? 🤯
  14. Hunter has diverse abilities. Equals #diversitility. 😳 I hope Groce discovers his diverse utility! 😊
  15. Would he make a great televangelist, or WHAT?? 🤑
  16. Is it just me, or does Neptune to Nova remind you of "Jeff Boals to Butler". They could have done so much better!
  17. https://www.ncaa.org/news/2022/4/20/media-center-prop-approves-changes-to-soccer-overtime-rules.aspx The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel during a virtual meeting Wednesday approved changes to overtime rules in men's and women's soccer for both the regular season and the postseason, effective for the 2022 season. For the regular season, overtime has been eliminated, meaning if a game is tied after the regulation 90 minutes, it will end in a tie. Previously, teams played two 10-minute overtime periods in a sudden-victory (golden goal) format, and if neither team scored, the game ended in a tie. In conference tournaments and NCAA postseason games, the sudden-victory component has been eliminated, and teams will play two 10-minute overtime periods instead. Also, when a substitution is made by the winning team in the last five minutes of the second overtime, the game clock will stop. If the game remains tied, a penalty-kick shootout will be held to determine the winner. Video review The panel approved expanding video review to include whether a foul occurred inside or outside the penalty area. Protests Panel members approved expanding the protest rule to include a review of violent behavior II and fighting red cards. The protest, including video of the incident, must be filed within 48 hours of the completion of the game (the same as other protests) and be submitted by the conference office or coordinator of officials. The scope would be limited to changing a violent behavior II or fighting red card (two-game suspension) to a violent behavior I red card (one-game suspension). A committee consisting of the NCAA men's and women's soccer secretary-rules editor, NCAA national coordinator of soccer officials and one NCAA soccer regional advisor who is not affiliated with the team, conference or region will consider the protest and render a decision. Reentry The NCAA Men's and Women's Soccer Rules Committee rescinded a change to the soccer reentry rules. Committee members voted in February to move forward a change where players would not be allowed to reenter a game after being substituted for in the second half. However, after hearing feedback from the membership during the comment period on the proposed rules change, the committee agreed it is best to have more dialogue on this subject.
  18. I lost the site, but I just read a Facebook post from NCAA Soccer that stated major rules changes to NCAA rules to comply with FIFA rules. During the regular season, overtime will be eliminated, and play will conclude after 90 minutes with a draw declared. During conference and NCAA tournament competition there will no longer be a "Golden Goal" format, and play will continue until the completion of two overtime periods. Looks like a continuation of efforts to make college soccer more like the world's game! I like it!
  19. Looked upside-down if it's a 'Z'. 🤷‍♂️
  20. Mid-major programs will never be able to protect their star players when name, image and likeness payoffs lure them away. This fact was ignored before the NCAA jettisoned all regulations of amateurism. Antoine Davis looking for a pay-off he won't get from the NBA. https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/college/2022/04/16/hard-turn-down-nil-money-played-big-role-antoine-daviss-decision-leave-detroit-mercy/7346690001/
  21. Must admit. I enjoy seeing those 2010 also rans playing for 7th and 8th. But this is a practice season...isn't it??
  22. Looking on the soccer page I don't see any new goalkeeper. Damn!
  23. https://www.verbalcommits.com/transfers/2022 Besides Sammy Hunter to Akron and Cochran from NIU...to BSU...to...Toledo, there's only one other MAC portal pickup. Canada gained a little-used 6-4 SG from Boston College. I think we're leading the transfer season, so far.
