  1. I agree...by far the best tailgating is in lot 9. Park in the closest pay lot you can find and take your cooler to lot 9 and mingle with the fans. We are a pretty friendly bunch. There is a drive-thru across the street with a decent beer selection. If you arent a bud light drinker and want to experience some great local beer, grab something from Great Lakes Brewing or Thirsty Dog. Great stuff.
  2. "Ratings" dont mean anything and are based largely off of the last several years of terrible Akron football. This team isnt nearly as bad as the past teams. I am also confident that Bowden understands he screwed up the game plan for UCF. If James Madison really believes that 45 FCS teams are better than Akron (this years Akron), then they are in for a rude awakening on Saturday evening.
  3. LeBron is a Buckeye honk. Anyone that thinks he gives two shits about this university compared to Ohio State is dreaming. I just wished that he would go away and stay there.
  4. Goose Island 312, Magic Hat Circus Boy Hefeweizen.
  5. You must have watched a different team than I did on Thursday night.
  6. Bre' Ford ahead of Anthony Holmes. That is a surprise. I also dont see the new Pitt RT on the 2 deep. I think he may be mixed up in the Mizell thing and is playing catchup after joining camp so late. I am not so concerned with the depth chart in week one. I am sure Bowden will be platooning and the guys that play well in the games will straighten out the depth chart in no time.
  7. I was stupid and got mine through the university. They put us in section 8, which is way up at the top of the stadium in an upper corner.
  8. No, they watched the right spring game. The quarterback play was awful, but most of the highlights were from walk-ons that aren't even on the team anymore.
  9. Wow...that is pretty optimistic for you. I expected a 50 point prediction. I feel better all of the sudden.
  10. He really only talked about the lines. He didnt mention our BYU friend Drew Phillips either.
  11. The only chance we have at selling 1 game out this year is if we are 3-0, coming off a win at Michigan, playing ULL. Even that wont happen because they wont bring any fans. Maybe if we are undefeated until the Can't game. That is about it.
  12. I think you summed it up for the most part. I thought there was more size and talent on the field today than there was last year and that was with 25% of the starters practically not playing. I am extremely excited about the front 7 on defense. I cant remember an Akron team with that much size and speed at those positions. I am trying to talk myself out of being overly optimistic, but I really like what I see compared to spring ball, let alone last year.
  13. Come on Keener....I will gladly accept any date to play in Columbus. The only way that we will ever get respect in this state is to beat Ohio State. You cant beat them if you dont play them. Besides, I look forward to tailgating down there with people that i know and having them ask me "why are you wearing Akron stuff?" It makes my day.
  14. Practice? We gonna talk about practice? not a game??
  15. Bowden mention MTB again as being a big play receiver. I dont think he is listening to your talent evaluation.
  16. I am curious myself. Probably the only day this week that I could sneak over there.
  17. I fully expect to see some changes closer to the break of camp. The lineup looks very similar to last years, which disappoints me a little. I was hoping that all of the new talent would upgrade some positions rather than just provide depth.
  18. http://gozips.com/sports/fball/2013-14/rel.../20130805m2n2we It looks like CJ Mizell is expected to join sometime, but he still hasn't fulfilled his academic requirements. I really hope that he doesn't miss too much camp finishing his classes.
  19. We may have found our homerun hitter at running back.
  20. Awesome!
  21. Please tell me this is a joke. He looks like an average D5 high school wide receiver. There is no way on earth that we offered this kid.
  22. So part of the attendance issues with basketball are because students cant find their professors after class???? Give me a break. OU Dude hit on a few key points. One of the reasons that we have almost 30,000 students and none of them go to the game is because the basketball experience for students sucks. The JAR simply does not allow the students to truly have "their" section and be part of the game (see Cameron crazies, the O Zone, MSU and OSU's student sections, etc..). I never even went to basketball games, except one or two a year until last year. The team was too fun to watch, so I went to every game. The biggest reason I didnt go before was because I hate the JAR. It is a terrible place to try and watch a basketball game. You cant see over the rails, people walk in front of you on the track and block the court or if you sit down low the angles of the bleachers are so poor large sections of the court are not even visible. Not only this, it feels like I am watching a game at a high school gym. It is embarrassing to take random friends to games because their response is almost always "seriously, this is the gym you guys play in?" You wonder why Joe Akron has apathy towards the Zips. Playing in an above average high school gym can cause people to consider you "small time".
  23. He is a big time point guard recruit. I know that he had an offer from Creighton. I think he may have had one from WVU as well. Maybe he plans on playing both sports??

  25. lol....I am ashamed to say that my first though to Capt Kangaroo's post was the same as yours.
