Have you talked to them about Zips football? I brought it up and it is a weekly conversation, lately more with the season approaching.

If I only get a single game parking pass for lot 9 my ticket rep's ears will be ringing by the time I get off the phone with him.

That is my concern as well. I have a feeling that if we get smoked the students will have the "oh they still suck" attitude and stop going to games.

I am not sure about season ticket sales, but one of the more promising things that I have heard about is the interest of the students. I work with an Akron co-op and he stated that student interest is the highest in years and to expect a huge student turnout for the home opener.

I agree. Avis Commack, Kurt Mangum, Albert Pressley and Jamel Turner = Huge talent upgrade over last years defense.

No kidding. I was surprised he went back there considering the trouble he has had. I would want to get as fresh of a start as possible if I were him.

He was recruited by Terry's dad, so I am sure he has somewhat of a relationship with him. I would also take the chance given Terry's record with these at risk players. We need a talent infusion now. Winning will help us be more selective in the future. I can't take more 1-11 seasons.

The NCAA is considering allowing the schools that take the PSU transfers to not count them against their scholarship limits. If this is the case, it probably doesn't help us get any players.

Maybe that is part of the reason why he talked to Moore about being 3rd string. He knew this day would be coming, why not clear some space?

He already has a verbal from his style quarterback. Getting a one and done in here that can win ball games is exactly what Bowden needs to do. We need to win some games to help on the recruiting front.

I got great seats for about $25. I don't consider that having my money stolen. I would blow more than that at a bar on any given Saturday afternoon if i wished to. I enjoy travelling to different stadiums and regions to watch college football games and i love tailgating. Why wouldn't I go support my school when I have always wanted to go watch a game at Tennessee?

I already bought my tickets and have my hotel booked. Will be a fun weekend regardless.

We currently have engineering co-ops from Akron, Penn State and Case Western. We will probably make job offers to the Akron students, but we can't wait for the other guys to wrap up their time and get out of here. Lets just say that I have lost a lot of respect for Case in the last several months.

That is a crock of BS....Ohio is by far the biggest contributor of Big Ten talent. Every Big Ten team recruits Ohio at the top of their list. Ohio is a top 5 state for producing NFL players. Ohio also dominates the smaller college divisions because of the overall talent and quality of coaching etc, that exists here.

It definitely doesn't give me the warm and fuzzy about him being around if we have an NCAA tourney run next year. All I can say is that we better get the arena plans finished quickly and pray that the football has a good year so we can get out of the MAC. We finally have solid coaches in all of our sports programs. We can't afford to lose them once we get a little bit of success. We don't have that name or tradition to rely on. We need to capitalize now.

Anyone hear anything on Justin Turner? I haven't heard of him going anywhere else. This would be a huge get for us.

After what I saw at the spring game, I don't think Tressel is that far off. We are seriously devoid of talent. I didn't listen to the interview, but I am sure Tressel's definition of turning it around isn't going 7-5. If it takes Bowden 3 or 4 years to get to 10-2 I can deal with that! If he is talking about winning, building a fan base and creating a culture change around the program, then yeah, it may take more than a few years.

It doesn't have to have his name in it. I know the NCAA would not look kindly on that. I was meaning more as a Bowden based concept. Like "fear the dadgum roo brew". Something like that.

The university should talk to Thirsty Dog since it is a mile from the stadium and see if they could make a special "Bowden Brew" to be on tap at Akron games.

I looked at the stadium rankings and they have Infocision rated as the 2nd worst in the MAC. lol

Whatever. I think you miss the point. All MAJOR programs have independant sites and sites at the major recruiting websites. My high school has an independant site...big deal. We look small time as we are one of less than 10 D1A programs with no sites on Rivals. Find a school that has a rivals site and no independant site. I doubt they exist.
