Mykel Traylor-Bennett is the receiver that you are talking about. He is 6'4 and 200 pounds. He flipped from Cincy to Can't and then de-committed from Can't. He was indeed here this weekend. He has offers from Can't, Cincy, Syracuse, Toledo, Minnesota, BGSU and EMU, among others. He looks like he would be a nice pickup. The running back you are talking about is Chris Davis. He is a 3 star player on rivals and has an Akron offer. He verballed to Indiana State this afternoon.

Toledo's coach said that Ohio and Akron were both very talented, but Akron has more depth. This was after he played both of them in a matter of a week or so. I will agree with the comments of a non-biased MAC coach over internet trolls any day.

247sports currently has our class rated as next to last in the country. Not good.

I was just watching the end of the Ohio State - Penn State game and Dan Dakich said that Akron was his sleeper team that can make a run in the NCAA tourney. He said Zeke is a great shot blocker and that we have a few key guys with key experience. He also mentioned Dambrot being a very good coach. As for the game....I am not that impressed with OSU. I would love to somehow get a matchup with them in the tourney.

Bowden is taking a fairly large group of recruits through the facilities this morning. Lets hope that he closes a few this weekend.

Nothing to ouch. He is a very good athlete. He had AT LEAST 4 d1 offers. That is better than most of our recruits in recent memory.

Maybe he is coming as a preferred walk on? Just because he is coming here, doesn't necessarily mean that it is on scholarship.

I thought the same thing...he looks agile and quick, but he isn't very fast. He doesn't really pull away from any kids in that video and West Virginia football isn't exactly Ohio or Florida. He looks like more of a scat 3rd down back.

I agree....I spoke with Cody's dad a few times at games and he really does enjoy playing for this staff. Obviously, the guys from Firestone will know this, so that is a very valuable recruiting tool. These are the type of local recruits that we need to keep around and not escape to the Pitt's, Northwesterns and Iowa's of the world.

I wouldnt be surprised if the MAC doesn't really want Akron to get that much better in football being that we are one of the few schools that have the facilities, enrollment and population necessary to move on to a bigger conference.

We are currently trying to overcome a severe talent deficiency compared to the majority of the MAC. It is difficult to recruit when you can't win a game. I few easier games would have been nice.

Boise State just officially backed out of the Big East. Now the Big East is going after Fresno State and UNLV.

Bowden is a pretty smart guy. I know in his ideal world he wants a qb that doesn't run and just throws quick pinpoint passes. However, he was surprised at the talent level in the MAC and he also saw that mobile quarterbacks killed him. He knows that he needs to alter some of his thinking to compete and win. This kid may be just that guy. Who knows?
