They have some players. They shot 60%+ in the first half and we couldn't buy a bucket for most of the first. Freeman had 2 fouls for most of the first half and had to sit. Yet this team stayed in the game mentally, chipped away, and then saw the door open and exploded through the opening. This is an ass whooping now. We've seen the emergence of a few players tonight, and then you have Freeman. Enrique Freeman needs to be in every All American discussion. He is legitimately one of the most unstoppable forces in the country. This is our MAC.

Southern Utah was a top scoring team in the country last season. Todd Simon - their coach at the time - wasn't going to come to BG without finding some scorers. He has done that, and we're screwed if we don't find a way to slow the game down and make our shots.

And... We're back in the MAC. 💩 officiating just gave Freeman his 2nd foul on a bail-out call after the 7' dumb butt for BG went baseline and got stuck under the basket. What an atrocious, game changing call.

Good luck beating anyone if Freeman is doubled and we aren't making our kick-out shots.

Freeman takes Spurgin, Ali/Hunter take Agee. Tribble/Dawson take Hill. The only mismatch in this game is a guard who can score vs an entire backcourt that can't. If we play solid D and get Freeman/Ali going, Akron wins. If we let Hill go off and can't get Freeman/Ali going, we probably lose.

We scored 61 pts yesterday, with Scott & Thornton going a combined 2-6 from the field and 0-4 from 3. I know Ali Ali went 7-17 from the field and 4-9 from 3, but there's still plenty of room for scoring from the guards. Scott misses way too many 3s with his line drive shot. They're both solid defensively, so it's a bit easier to live with the lack of offensive contributions, but I can't give them anything better than a C+/B- grade. HUGE swing and a miss by Groce to not have a scorer in here to replace X2.0. We have 1 Q1 loss and 3 Q2 losses. All but 1 of those losses are single possession defeats, all 4 are road/neutral site losses, and all 4 came without Ali Ali. Eye test says we're the best team in the MAC. We now enter MAC play with a chance to prove the eye test is accurate.
