I'm not even sure this is accurate. After any little "hot streak" he has during a game, defenses adjust and he goes MIA. He cannot shot create on his own, and he's a liability on defense. Whatever he gives you on the offensive end, even with a hot streak, is largely negated by his liabilities during the other 95% of the game. The offense today ran very efficiently in comparison. There wasn't a guy who provides very little off-the-ball movement slowing down the offense, and the absence of his ~75% miss rate helped keep the offense in rhythm. If he's gone, so be it. If he stays, I hope he kicks it up about 4 gears these last couple of weeks.

The ZN.o update to include GIFs really takes this board to the next level. Now, do we have Trimble going forward or not?
-
No.

Whoa.

Hey, let's not talk poorly about the Pick-Me-Up Crew whose gushing over the Zips is making me feel better about this program.
-
They shouldn't even be allowed to host events in it until their average basketball attendance is over 50.

15 pt lead at the half. Message-sending game by Groce and the players are responding well. Side note: EMU doesn't deserve their arena.

When X's head is in the game, he's terrific.

Wrong thread. -
That was a knee slapper.

Messages are being sent to the players with this game.

Prison Rules to start the game. Geeze.

I'm doing this for my daughters. They must experience the frustration & heartbreak. It builds character.

Perfect tip-off time. Middle of the day where I can be busy and forget to watch what could be a repeat of the previous two performances. (Just kidding. I have to watch. I have two girls that need to know the ups and downs of being an Akron fan.)

Semantics. I see SI.com, UA sees SI.com - it's Sports Illustrated, damnit! -
Joe Moorhead Officially Hired as Head Football Coach

Moorhead being in local media - and by local, I mean 92.3 The Fan, 850 ESPN, etc., not just Akron stations - will go a long way. First order of business - crush KSUcks in marketing. Be THE school in the area. Sean Lewis won't go on 92.3 The Fan, at least not with Ken Carmen. Second order of business - win. Third order of business - grow with the program. Don't be Mickey Mouse with equipment, marketing strategy/techniques, etc. Moorhead gets it, and I hope the University adjusts to his level of professionalism. -
I don't expect a Primary Logo change until after the conclusion of the 2021-22 athletics schedule.

If the staff was expecting to get Sincere Carry and he bolted for KSUcks last minute, that might explain lacking that one guard on this team. Still a miss to not have backup plans, but it sounds like Akron got hosed by a 💩 in the first place. There hasn't been a single "normal" off-season for recruiting since before COVID, and I think this staff has struggled with that. Heck, even the one-time-no-sit-out transfer rule came into play well after the 2021 college basketball season. I expect the holes to be filled next year, but we still have guys like Freeman, Dawson, Aziz, and Kalle to build around. Those are key pieces, as guards are less of a hot commodity than dominant bigs (especially 7 footers). Get some perimeter scoring, and the sky is the limit with our front court.

$3M a year for a 17-18 overall record (11-15 conference record) in 3 seasons... I doubt Neal is regretting his decision but WVU is certainly having buyer's remorse. Neal will probably take a year off once he's fired (they should really fire him now to stop the bleeding) then come back with a G5 school and return to success.

The team's ceiling is capped by a lack of talent, and even lower when there's a lack of effort/focus/killer instinct. "Attitude reflects leadership, captain." Groce can only lead so much as a HC on the sideline. This is my frustration with guys like X, Ali, Trimble. They are experienced players with poor leadership on the court. Poor leadership leads to poor attitude, and poor attitude leads to 3 losses in a row, 2 of which are to teams you should be beat by double digits. Trimble doesn't make shots consistently, and is really worthless on the court otherwise; nobody trusts him. His bricks not only deflate the ball, but deflate the morale on the team. X isn't there mentally every play. He consistently drops passes, mishandles the ball, makes bone-headed mistakes, etc. That's not what you want from the "floor general." Ali tries to put the team on his back, but goes about it the wrong way. He can shot create with his dribble-drive ability, but 99.9% of the time only looks to finish the play himself; his head is never up, looking to see who got open during his dribble-drive. I'm not bailing on the season. We can win the MAC. But my enthusiasm is tempered based on the lack of effort from the team these last two games. I'm VERY excited about next season.

I'm adding Wynn to my transfer predictions, and removing Ali & X. Ali is pissing me off, but he's an Indiana golden child of Groce's, and I think he ultimately turns it around with proper leadership at the guard position. X isn't going to sit out a year, and maybe some actual competition at guard kicks his butt into gear to be in the game mentally 100%. Final transfer predictions: Wynn & Trimble.
-
WVU is in trouble. Can we land more WVU transfers? Starting CB. OLB/DL.
-
Yes - more so X and Trimble, but Ali's attitude and lack of "teamism" has pissed me off as of late. Add Wynn to that, because he clearly isn't meeting Groce's expectations.
-
The sky is not falling with the program. This season blows. Groce has the solutions coming in. I'm glad he has high standards. His brand of basketball is fun to watch. He just needs a normal recruiting cycle to get the talent in here to execute it.

I'm ready to see the walk-ons.
