Bates had been with WMU basically since 2000. That's a lot of mediocrity to build your career on. Per BobcatAttack, Bates has(had?) a commitment from a Javaughn Hannah for next season. Rivals lists him as a 3*, and the 32nd best SG in the country for his class. His offer list is impressive, although most of the offers came earlier in his high school career. Is Clayton Bates a recruiting sorcerer?

How did this guy get Lamar Norman to Kalamazoo? Does Lamar stay with a new coach or opt to transfer, having to sit out a year in the process?

Moorhead’s Akron Coaching Staff 2022
Let'sGoZips94 replied to akrzips2012's topic in Akron Zips Football
What makes you say we came out on top? Toth had an impressive resume. Edit: Tibesar coaches TJ Watt at Wisconsin. Per Watt's Wikipedia... In July 2015, Watt was asked by head coach Paul Chryst to switch to a defensive position as a redshirt sophomore.[3] Badgers' outside linebackers coach Tim Tibesar recalled Watt's position change saying, "At that time, even though he was in his third fall at Wisconsin, it was kind of like having a freshman come in. You're trying to teach him for the first time how to play outside 'backer in our system." Per his Oregon State page... Tibesar Notables: 9 Number of years as a defensive coordinator 34-7 Record at Wisconsin during his tenure 2 Number of Big Ten West Division titles at Wisconsin 2 Rank of 2017 Wisconsin defense (2nd, 2015; 7th, 2016) OREGON STATE (2018-Present) • Defense allowed 51.5 fewer passing yards per game in 2020 from 2019 • Avery Roberts (69) and Omar Speights (63) finished first and second in Pac-12 in tackles in 2020. Ohio doesn't have Preston this year, either. That kid was a special talent.

How is a conference commissioner selected? Is it the University presidents that do so? If that's the case, why do MAC school presidents continue to allow this clown Steinbrecher to lead the MAC? He's the MAC's version of Rob Manfred - atrocious.

Nevermind on possibly attending. Since when does the early game on Friday start at 5? I thought that was usually a 6pm start. Come on Zips, make it to Saturday!

What time would Akron play Friday - early game?

Basketball practice facility (and more) coming

How so? It's considered one of the greatest atmospheres in college basketball. Yes the program and fans have something to do with that, but so does the arena setup. -

Has anyone looked at Cameron Indoor Stadium for a blueprint for JAR modifications? It's a very similar arena. 9k capacity, but that includes upper corner seating which we couldn't do. But I would imagine the rest could be done. -
I'd imagine this will be addressed by Guthrie sooner rather than later.

Bobcat Attack is yet again a must read. "Next season starts next week!"

That may have been literally the perfect game script for Akron. 2010 Akron soccer lost to CSU on their crap field. They went on to never lose again that season, claiming the National Title. They had played some uninspired soccer leading up to that game, and an opponent finally took advantage. That game was a wake up call to the team. For this squad, Trimble was excused from the team a few games ago. They go on this run of playing great teamism ball, knocking off the Bobkittens of BFE Ohio during that stretch. They head into Cleveland now with a winning streak AND having been tested with NOTHING going their way. Heck of a win. Always good to finish the regular season with a W. Awesome seeing Groce in the stands after the game. Now let's go beat Canada in Cleveland!

I think it has more to do with Wynn.
-
Our coaching staff deserves a lot of props. They're coaching their asses off this year, and whatever they're selling, the players eventually buy.
-
That was their first pedestrian shooting performance (high 30s percentage wise from both the field and beyond the arc) against a top team in a long while, yet they luck out with Buffalo shooting 28% from 3. Pinky sold his soul to the basketball devils this year...
-
Agreed. Although I think the zone in general is giving us fits. Ali does not fit the offense as it currently stands against the zone. I'd like to see him move more, try to slash behind the defense, open some lanes. Same with Tribble - if he would fake a quick pass to the corner then attack the hole when the defender bites, that would be helpful.
-
Ali is not there tonight...
-
I'm glad we're struggling tonight. Keeps us on our toes, gives us something to work on going into next week, etc.
-
Since when did this change? I thought we were locked into Canada?
-
Yes, and they didn't have Mballa nor their coach. Us being a new team is neutralized, but if we get by Canada...
-
OU is the only Top 4 team to have played against this Akron team (without Trimble). No other Top 4 team has seen this Zips team. That's an interesting fact heading into Cleveland.

Buffalo was arguably the nail in the coffin for Dambrot. Buffalo's style & athleticism complete outclassed Dambrot's style & lack of athleticism in basically every aspect. During Dambrot's final years, he had trouble beating Buffalo during the regular season as well. This isn't to discuss Dambrot, but to show that Buffalo's style is tough to beat no matter what. We match up better with them now from an athleticism standpoint, especially without Trimble basically making it 4 v 5 when Buffalo has the ball, but Buffalo still has the advantage with Segu & Williams. I disagree with the final two statements I cropped in your quote comment. We won the tournament 3x with zero standout guards/players (minus Zeke, but Freeman neutralizes not having Zeke). Those backcourts were slightly deeper than ours, but no better than what we have now as long as Clarke continues his higher level of play. Systems can win tournaments just as easily as ball-dominant killers, if not more easily. If that ball-dominant killer, that a team relies on so much (like Carry), is off - look out; that team will probably struggle to make up the difference (which is what pisses me off so much about KSUcks having their poor performances all against bottom-feeding MAC teams). The way the Zips play defense, the way they spread the ball on offense now, the way they rebound - they will have just as good of a chance in Cleveland as the top 4 teams. What could be the death of the team is the lack of consistent outside shooting. Then again, Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse doesn't have the best sightlines and can neutralize good shooting teams. This will be a fun tournament with truly 5 teams that can win it all.

Look at that. You practically outsourced this task and didn't even know it. Congratulations on not having to follow @Zipmeister's requests. 🤣
