  1. Enrique Freeman Bruce Weinkein LCJ Jake Kretzer Steve McNees That is both my favorite starting 5, and in order.
  2. He might be my all-time favorite Zip.
  3. IT'S NOT SCRIPT AKRON! 🤯
  4. That might be the best early-season-tourney field we've ever been part of. Agreed on Akron being strong next year, and could make some noise in the Caribbean.
  5. I thought they burned it already?
  6. I would like to see Kalle get some minutes today and Friday. Having a 3rd big, even if it's just for a few possessions, for what hopes to be a 3-game-run in Cleveland could be massive in maintaining the freshest legs possible for Freeman & Aziz.
  7. Listed as a Safety in 247. Offers from Buffalo, Colorado, and San Diego State.
  8. Would ya look at that? The science changed. Glad freedom of choice is reinstated. Hopefully the JAR has a good turnout on Friday.
  9. Can we get them at home? "I didn't leave Buffalo for Kansas just to come back to the MAC and get my butt whooped." - Lance Leopold (probably)
  10. Slow news maybe, but at least there is enough excitement and anticipation for football to still be talking about it during the "dead" period.
  11. I'm going to tell my kids this is the MACC.
  12. That arena literally is the JAR, just with more complete & modern seating. I believe you could modify the seating in the JAR to pretty closely mirror the Samford arena, while maintaining the character and atmosphere of the JAR. I hate the concrete corner spaces in Sanford's arena; it looks weird and "commuter-ish". Get some engineers in there (I thought we had a good Engineering program?), Move the corner doors to the middle, directly behind the baskets. Wrap the lower level seating around, adding corner sections where the doors used to be, and proper end zone seats on either side of the basket. Remove the track, and bring those seats forward. Convert every seat to be decent quality chair backs, and let's get back to rocking the JAR.
  13. To follow up on Jermaine, he is averaging 12 ppg and almost 9 rpg. Impressive season. Coming off 17 & 16 pt performances, too. Good for him! Give me the JAR over that arena, minus the lack of bench seating. I like the JAR for college basketball, just get rid of the track.
  14. And 23rd or 24th. Hemric took 9th while Haley spun out on the final lap; prior, he was running 12th or so (top 15 at least). Bummer we didn't have 2 top 15 finishes, but this continued the moment carried over from a solid performance at Daytona. There was a good amount of air time given to Hemric and Kaulig Racing as well. Being connected/invested in an entire team in NASCAR is fun. Oh, and I was able to take back control of my 65" TV. I had my 2.5 year old daughter clapping for Hemric & Haley, and she said, "Go Zips!"
  15. Kaulig Racing had a Row 3 start for today's race in California. Both cars were running Top 20 last I checked. (Disney+ is occupying my 65" TV; not what I intended to be on the screen when I bought the thing...)
  16. Watching the first half since I missed it last night. Props to Dawson for really stepping his game up and seizing this opportunity. Not enough good things can be said about Freeman. Ali, as long as his attitude remains positive like these last couple of games, can stay a Zip. Looks like he has found his fit without Trimble. Tribble has also found his role too. This team is going to be a force these next 2 years.
  17. Nope. Sorry dude (Trimble), you had your chance to buy in and give DI effort on both ends of the floor and you didn't. "My team is on the floor." @NWAkron
  18. Did Boals just basically walk by Groce?
  19. I think Groce's March senses are tingling...
  20. Not only is KSUcks guaranteed a 1-3 start to the season, but how many injuries occur after the gauntlet of Washington, Oklahoma, and Georgia? Oof. I like the OU, Miami, and NIU schedules. Akron is right there with them for the most appealing schedules. Go Zips!
  21. I was previously of the thought that, if we had Trimble during that first OU game, we would've won. I still think we needed Trimble in that game with where the team was at, and thought we'd be able to take them next matchup with Trimble. Now that Trimble's gone and the offense has learned how to play with more cohesiveness, I think we win this one.
  22. Put together in 2-3 months without 100% of the staff's attention. Amazing.
  23. This is well said. Let me add the lack of rhythm in the program since Groce took over has been very disruptive as well. Dambrot's teams were lethargic by the end of his tenure. Groce came in, and the cupboards were as bare as Chevy Chase skinny dipping in Caddyshack, which led to the worst year in program history since prior to Dambrot. Groce finally got things going in 2019-20; that final KSUcks game was ELECTRIC. Then... The 'VID hit. The program wasn't able to showcase LCJ, X, Cheese, Banks... Those guys were special; those are the kind of guys that a community falls in love with, and they never got their chance to finish the job. No/limited attendance last year, then this year is just bizarre. Nobody wants to go to college basketball games, whether it be the mask mandates, fear of COVID, etc. That aspect isn't specific to just Akron - that's nationwide as @LoyalZIP said. College basketball has an issue going forward. It will be interesting to see if March Madness posts strong attendance/ratings. I haven't watched much college basketball all season, or really since 2019-20. I might have to go the route of filling out my bracket based on my favorite color(s) or mascot(s). Yeesh.
