"They just want to be given a road map." I would love to see what this road map looks like that has convinced donors to shell out so much money for the facilities.
-
Bingo. This isn't that hard.

Sounds like the perfect opportunity to be philanthropic and turn a bunch of kids into Zips fans with merch around a bunch of Northeast Ohio schools.

Can we open up the books in Ohio a few months early?

2024 Offers and Verbal Commits
Let'sGoZips94 replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
One of Akron's biggest assets - Matt Kaulig - has pretty strong ties to Hudson as well. -
Promoting the athletes on social media in a tasteful fashion is a recruiting tool. Part of why the P5 resumes matter on this coaching staff is they've seen what it takes to win at the highest level of college football, and that includes attracting talent and showcasing it on social media once that talent is wearing your uniform on Saturdays (or Tuesday nights).

2023 Outstanding Offers
Let'sGoZips94 replied to catdaddyp's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
@catdaddyp You're the @Illini Zip for the football section. Huge asset to this board. Thank you for all the time and effort you have put into ZipsNation. This thread is awesome and so much cleaner than tracking this on any other website. -
Basketball practice facility (and more) coming

It's missing the gold accent on the ribbon, too. -
Figured. One thing the article did mention (despite not including some OL, who might actually increase these numbers) was the average OL size is 6'5" 305 lbs. That's huge. I watched the videos on Akron Football Twitter. - #1 Cam Wiley is a BIG boy at RB - Our WRs look skilled across the board - QBs throw beautiful balls. DJ Irons looks FIT

Did I miss something in those Hustlebelt articles, or did they miss some players like Caden Clark?

(This is to @GP1 and not because Steve is a KSUcks grad and may struggle with the math equation presented by GP1 😂)

Only one 16 seed in the basketball tournament has ever beaten a 1 seed, yet March Madness is one of the most exciting tournaments in sports. The transfer portal + playoff possibilities would greatly increase the level of G5 football. Would they beat Bama? Highly unlikely. Other P5s? Absolutely. This would vastly improve college football.

Very nice. We are building quite the Chicago-area pipeline. -
2023 Zips soccer recruits

Attacking mid it looks like? -
Hard way to look at it with how fluid the situation will be. 10 year patterns of the NBC/CBS/Fox conference vs. Disney/ESPN/ABC conference, then 10 years of Amazon streaming vs. Apple streaming vs. Netflix streaming conferences, and so on.
-
ACC has ESPN/ABC. Unless you're saying the the conferences are dictated by their TV deal companies, not the traditional conference names themselves.
-
Big Ten is getting a new media deal worth over $1B. Everyone is in except ESPN, which means NBC is also in. I bet this means Notre Dame is joining the Big Ten. MAC/CUSA/Sun Belt will probably combine at some point. AAC and Mountain West become the bridge to the Super 4 Conferences. Big 12/PAC 12 combine to survive. Add ACC, Big Ten, and SEC for the Super 4. TV deals are starting to show the map of what's going to happen.

Michigan State Preseason #14, Tennessee Received Votes So did Coastal Carolina, UTSA, Wake Forest, and Army. Oh, and Texas - ranked #18, received a #1 vote. So take this with a grain of salt.
-
Buffalo was the only MAC school to rank ahead of us (IIRC) in the transfer rankings, FWIW. BUGS can bring in all the transfers they want. They still have a coach that couldn't beat Arth.

"This week is 1st and 2nd down..." That's right, Coach! 3rd and 4th down are for teams that don't get a 1st down in 2 plays. JoeMo Ball.

2021-2022 Zips Women's Basketball

Junior College to D1, to another DI, to another DI after a coaching change at the last DI. Unfortunate but acceptable career path to land at Akron. Great get. -
Basketball practice facility (and more) coming
Let'sGoZips94 replied to jupitertoo's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Perfect. Sounds great to me. I am on board with this as long as it's done right, and Guthrie has done nothing to make me believe he wouldn't do it right. In the age of cookie-cutter, modern arenas, we should be looking to standout with an awesome college basketball atmosphere. Out of curiosity, has anyone with insider info seen any renovation numbers that show the absolute maximum capacity for the JAR with a renovation? i.e. If they connect the levels, could we get 6-7k? Is 5,500 the absolute max with more seating space, but less seats due to no more bleachers? -

Can you share the gist of what's said? I see the first part about Guthrie liking traditional sports venues, but the rest is behind the dreaded (and stupid) pay wall.
