Agreed. My biggest critique has been the guard play, as it's a guard league/game, and Groce typically has a stud guard that can take over the game. X has vastly improved as the season has worn on, consistent with his confidence growth. I think he can be probably 80-90% of what LCJ/Cooper were, but really lacks the supporting cast on the offensive side. Really disappointed our 2 scoring freshman guards apparently aren't thought to be good enough to contribute more than the pieces we have from a scoring standpoint.

Groce's 2009-10 Bobcats team was very young (Cooper & co. Freshman year). They were 17-14 in the regular season, and 7-9 in the MAC. They went on to win 5 straight - 4 MAC tourney games (including a Championship Game victory over Akron) and a 1st Round W over Georgetown in the NCAA Tournament. This team reminds me of that team. They're gritty, hearty, and play for a full 40 minutes. March will be interesting, but right now they have to figure out how to limit the long stretches of woes on offense. It kills their energy on defense, creating a lose lose situation. They can beat anyone. The inconsistency is just frustrating.

This team doesn't have good chemistry. They don't trust each other (for good reason in some cases) and it shows in the flow of the offense. Trimble hits that shot, but he can't hit a wide open 3 if he had American Sniper style calculations (wind, gravitational pull, etc.)? Awful defense on that final drive. Damnit. I want to love this team. They make it so hard sometimes.

Yes please. Half the struggle for OL/DL from high school to college is the weight room difference. They're barely out of boyhood going against grown ass men. A full year in a Big Ten weight room helps narrow that gap a lot.

I heard the comment on the broadcast (I believe they went back to 2010 or something like that in the comment). It depends on how you define "Class of the MAC". If it's defined as "best representative of the MAC" OU & Buffalo have been the Class of the MAC since 2010 based on their NCAA Tourney success (actually representing the MAC well on the National stage). If it's defined as "most consistent success in the MAC" Buffalo & Akron have been the Class of the MAC since 2010 (OU a close 3rd I'd say, bookending the date 12 year range). Another note regarding Miami - they've been mostly in rebuild mode ever since the LEGENDARY Charlie Coles retired after the 2011-12 season. Haven't been able to find anything consistent after nearly 20 years of consistency with Coles.
