Have we ever had a 6'+ defender? That's a bit sarcastic but we are usually much smaller than our opponents. I like the size!

Just made this my profile pic. The more I look at this, the more I believe they need to make the subtle change of adding the line(s) to highlight the Z in the logo. It adds that special flare that helps make it identifiable with the University of Akron Zips.

To answer your last question - yes. The piece missing from your equation is the improvement in the coaching staff. This staff is going to put the guys on the field in much better positions to make plays and win games. The offense is almost fully revamped with P5 guys. The defense has P5 guys littered throughout. JoeMo hasn't gone less than .500 in his other 2 first years as a HC. I don't expect anything less than .500 this year, even if we don't add anyone (and I expect to add a few more key impact players).

This is more what they should have gone with. But I still like the new A overall.

The summer of '09, Pete and Larry Jr. participated in the Akron summer basketball camp. Larry Jr. was noticably on a different level than his age group (high school), and Pete was the same way (elementary school?). One of the nicest families you'll ever come across. Had the pleasure of actually playing on Larry Jr.'s 3 on 3 team (we won the camp tournament), and they trained at Springside where I took tennis lessons so I ran into them quite often. Would love to see one of the Nance boys wear the Akron Blue & Gold.

I don't know if it's the quality of the video, but I am incredibly surprised by how much I like the logo. At first glance I hated it, but after seeing the video highlight the Z built into it, I love it. That is a sharp, modern, timeless design. I don't know if they can do more to highlight in the logo itself that the Z is there, but if they can or word gets out, this gives the University a notable and recognizable A. Arizona, Atlanta, Alabama, and Army have recognizable A's and this is unique from those which is key. Again, I think the video is the best marketing tool they have and many won't ever watch it, but that was well done and gave me a new, positive perspective on the logo after first glance.

Pete Nance would be a blessing at any point.

Whatever they do, it has to be timeless. We have 3 premier sports programs ready to take their respective next steps in notoriety, and the goal should be to establish a logo that becomes recognizable and synonymous with the University of Akron.

What @LZIp said. They go by PCCC, Brimfield College, Rootstown U, Ravenna West, Can't State, KSUcks, etc. So many synonyms for "Failure".

PTSD just kicked it from how close the out of bounds lines were to the wall. They were smart to move the middle school to the old high school.

JoeMo guy - Martin Emerson - just drafted by the Browns. Physical DB. I expect to see several Akron players get drafted over the next 4 years at least.

Completely forgot about Boateng. Good call. Aside from Bubba, I've really written off most Arth players as FCS caliber at best. Boateng is certainly a stud and makes me feel better. Him, Terry(?) from Buffalo, and Arslenian are actually a nice group. Would like one more, though.

Another scholly opens up for a player that can be a bit more productive in our system. I very much appreciated how Michael responded to the adversity throughout the year, and made a huge push to contribute by the end of the season. However, he was a liability on offense. We need offense.
