In past years I would agree, but with the new format, you kind of have to. With the top 2 seeds automatically going to the semis, as a Zips fan you don't want Can't or OU up there with you. Buffalo is the more dangerous team, but Can't and OU travel better. Best case scenario would be if Eastern somehow took a 3 or 4 seed and BG took the other, giving Akron and Buffalo the auto semi 1 and 2 seeds, while leaving Can't and OU having to win 2 games to get to Cleveland, and 2 more to get to the finals.

How about in honor of Charlie, we play a stretch of play slow and methodical? Only if we are up by a secure amount, though. In all seriousness, assuming this is Charlie's last visit to the JAR as a coach, I'm going to miss seeing him on the sidelines with his paper. What a class act. He has represented the MAC very well.

Wow. I did not know that. I believe they are the only MAC East school to have a men's tennis team.

From this it looks like a 24 win season almost certainly gets us into the discussion of an at-large, if not for sure a bid. If we finish the season with 24-25 wins, the projected RPI is in the top 30s-top 20s. I think the Zips are capable of an at-large. With the record we have had AFTER the first half of the season, it is just incredible what this team has accomplished. Their RPI right now is 50, but that doesn't include the NIU game. I think we are among the top mid major programs and definitely in the mix or ahead of some big names. If Bilas truly believes the Zips could be in contention, that is saying something. I respect Bilas and his opinions. I think he is a very well educated analyst who says what he believes, not what ESPN and fans wants to hear. However, I just want to win the darn tournament and have that for sure bid. I have gone through enough heart attacks in my 17 years of living and watching the Zips; I don't need a selection Sunday heart attack to add to the total. Just win the MAC tournament and you're in. Better yet, get a top 2 seed and you only have to win 2 games to repeat as MAC champions. As Larry the Cable Guy would say, "GET 'ER DONE!"

I have been meaning to make it out to a women's tennis match these last couple of years. Tennis is my favorite sport as I am first singles varsity at Norton. It is amazing what the Akron tennis program has accomplished as of late. Very solid wins this year, too. I really wish there as a men's team here, though. Title IX really killed American tennis because instead of having many choices for DI tennis, they are left with the SEC, PAC 12, Big 10, and some other random DI conferences. However, most of those teams are full of the best players in the world, not just America, hurting American tennis with all of the international players. DIII and DII tennis has actually improved because of this. Really looking forward to seeing how far the Zips can go this year, and in the future. Go Zips!

Problem is ORU keeps struggling. Very winnable game next Saturday.

BG holds on by 3. Of course. I agree with RFR44. Cooper is a liability. I would never want him on my team. Come on WMU. Would love the help with Buffalo, but I don't want you in the MAC tournament at all. Right now, Akron controls its own destiny.

The only defensive player that deserved it was Tuck. However, as a Zips fan, Chase should've been Super Bowl MVP. Haha. By the way, how great was it to only watch Edelman only return kick offs and get crushed doing so? Can't Statecks!

I disagree. I think this team has made great strides in their free throw ability. The 2-3 games it cost us were Valpo and Duquesne, with Cleveland St. maybe being a possible one.

My French teacher's favorite phrase. Haha. As for the bracket buster game, Oral Roberts lost by 15 to South Dakota State. However, looking at their schedule, South Dakota State doesn't seem to be that bad. They spanked Washington and have stayed close in several other big name games. They have an RPI of 64 on realtimerpi.com. Seems to actually be a decent loss. I also would've liked to see ORU run the table until their match-up with the Zips, but 1 lost to a top 65 ranked team isn't the end of the world. This does say, however, the Zips need to take care of business. Go Zips!

As a Norton High School student, I saw him play a lot. He torched our defense every time. Norton isn't the best, but we still have some solid athletes and he just made them look like water boys. Solid walk on.

I am VERY impressed with how Proenza is approaching his 2020 plan. As stated in an earlier post, who better to highlight this plan other than Jim Tressel? Really nobody. The guy owns NEO. He has many many many many MANY connections. The job position is a complicated title for the person who can take this university to the next level, whether that be a bigger conference, new arenas, better academics, or anything else in the 2020 plan. On a side note, on campus we now have Terry Bowden, his brother, Terrell Buckley, Jim Tressel, Keith Dambrot, Caleb Porter, Chuck Amato, and sometimes Bobby Bowden (not working here, but still will be on campus at times). Yeah, I'd say Akron is the place to be. It must REALLY suck to go to Can't State.

I usually think Nik charges every time he drives, but I don't agree with that charge call. I think CMU just had a player just get nominated for an Oscar. Zips really need to just push this out and put the dagger in CMU early. I want a 20+ lead.

Did anyone else feel the earth shake after that dunk by Tree? Zips playing pretty well. I'd like to see them quit shooting the 3 ball and start getting it inside, but hey, go with what is working at the time.

That would be awesome. I think our coaching staff should go down to Florida near Florida State and such with a HUGE sign that reads: WE HAVE BOWDENS! COME PLAY FOR THEM!

Diggs and Walsh can share the PG tonight if both true PGs aren't able to go. We could really use a full team, though. On the road, decent West team, and this is a very important game for our bracket buster.

This team is for real. In past years, Zips teams would lose these type of let down games after a big win. Not anymore. It's crazy because we have 2 teams that can be put in.
