  1. this is one reason why recruit rankings mean nothing.between failing out, transfer out of school, injuries ect what matters is the records on the feild.everyone got so excited when we had the top mac rankings two years ago.if jd has a good year this year all this bad press will be forgotten.

  2. i don't think it makes a difference if he comes or not.akron has never got the best players in ohio.they go to osu/penn state ect.once the new stadium is built ,and i stress if akron has some decent years the top kids will come.one kid's decision not to come to akron means nothing. do you actually think tryell sutton decision influences kids.five years from now.they won't even know who he is.

  3. skip im a long time zip fan.im not trying to start a flame, but until i see a big ten,or sec play in akron im a a bit skeptical.if i remember wasn't indiana supposed to come to akron.what happened to that deal.now all of a sudden we are playing at there place.i dont care if other mac teams are playing big ten teams at there place.it does not mean they will be playing at akron.next year we have army, and cinnci.niether are in the sec or big ten.it's time for the a.d. to step up and getting akron some occ home games.every year it seems like we go on the road, and only have one occ home game.

  4. there is also a discussion on the mac board about the big ten looking for a new teams.they talked about rutgers,or cuse.then i think you would see alott of shuffling in c-usa,mac,and big east.the only reason i bring this up is if we do only build a 25k stadium it really liimits what we can do.we would pretty much be stuck in the mac forever.im not saying it's a bad thing, but it does limit our options.

  5. i have to agree with the last two posters.new stadium no way sec ,big ten teams are going to come to the new stadium simpy because of the size.thats why a 25k stadium makes no sense.most big ten teams can sell 50k +and will ofeer $$ for teams to come to there place. we might get indiana ect.when i see it ill believe it.we may get a nice to team to visit on the opening game of the new stadium, but that's it.i am tired of having to go on the occ all the time.when we get the new stadium hopefully we will use it.if a team is not willing to give a return visit then don't schedule them.

  6. i just dont see 8 wins on our schedule.new qb,and three new starters on the o-line.while i think our defense could be one of the better ones at akron our kicking game is terrible.our offense was bad last year, and we lost our best wr.i think this teams can go 6-6 best case 7-5.i think well go 1-3 in occ but have a good chance to win alott of mac games.the zips need to win against army.a loss in the first game followed by osu could send the team in a downward spiral.

  7. i still think they need to make the stadium at least 35k.you don't know what is going to happen in the future.no conference is going to take a team with a 25k stadium.at least i hope they leave the possiblity of expansion in the future.mac put a good spin on why our attendance is bad because of the rubber bowl. i dont know one person who says they won't go a zip game because of the rubber bowl.people don't go because we have one leauge title followed by the below .500 season.we do need a new stadium, but it's not the reason people don't go to the games.

  8. in defense of faust he did have one pretty decent year. i think we went 7-3-1 that year which % wise is one of akron's better years.things seem to go out of control after that year.people also forget that jason taylor was his recruit.i think some of is players let him down to by getting in trouble. the last year though he coached was a total mess.

  9. anyone have any idea of how large this will be.if it's only going to be 25k then we are going to be in the mac forever, and play most of our occ games on the road.im not saying that staying in the mac is bad.if the stadium is only 25 k no other conference will even look at us.im sure there is still going to be some shakeup in c-usa,and big east.plus the mac is going to have 13 teams for football; which make no sense.they mac can say what they want ,but they need to be 14,or 12 teams for football.

  10. i never attacked anyone.all i was replying to was the comment i made 37-3 is a blow, and i dont car how close it was at half.i dont blame ysu for taking the money from the big ten schools.the poster came back and said i did not have my facts.the facts are 37-3.with 12 games to fill now ysu,and akron probably will not play each other for awhile.booth schools can make alott of money playing occ schools.it would be nice to have a series with you guys, but the zips are not going to play in y'town so pretty much ends that.still if we could get ysu to come here for a game once every four years would be a solution.i dboubt if anything will ever happen on either side

  11. our upset of nc state last year at least gave akron some press on espn ect.trying to compare who is more popular is someone's opinon.still we played penn state and i thought for the most part the zips played them tuff.ysu got drilled .we played nc state and won. if ysu moved up they would be playing d-1 schools every week not slippery rock. alott of teams move to d-1 like akron and not to many have had major success year in year out.ysu would probably struggle like all the other one's that have tried before.

  12. exactly !!the point of the last poster.the browns coaches and front office are desperate and this pick showed that. if you are one player a away you make that move. the coaches traded future picks to get try to get something right away. the reason is they have nothing to lose because they wont be around if they keep losing anyways.

  13. i think this rule really hurts the mid major schools. it will make it more difficult for some kids a coach may take because he is a good three point shooter to get a scholly.i don't know about any of you, but i would rather have a wide open two foot shoot, than a wide open half court shot.i don't know who wanted the change but i dont like it.another point made a poster is what to do about the women's game. not to bright.

  14. i do agree that going 1-aa is not a good option. im just think staying in the mac in basketball is a waste. i would rather go into a good b-ball conference, and go independant in f-ball.we had the best season in shcool history, and went absolutely no where.how, and when is that going to change by staying in the mac? the university sold out a b-ball program in the past for mac football with faust.i hope we dont lose another coach again because of the same mentality.the mac also has no revenue for tv and bowls compared to all but the sun belt.you need money to run a football program. staying in the mac brings in no $$$.
