as an akron fan. this is a huge trap game. coming off our biggest win in probabably school history. plus playing on the road at cmu would not be easy anyways.i have been impressed with our defense to hold two bcs teams to under 300 yards total offense if pretty good.go akron

the difference i see in this team and past teams is the defense. we have never had the people up front 300 d-lineman to stop the bcs teams.now we do,and we have some speed in the db's.the defense is amazing considering they were playing a short field almost all the game.nate robinson showed some speed running on the field at the end of the game for a guy 300+ pounds.harvey is something special and he is going to be around for awhile. if you at this team we have some great young talent kennedy,and harvey.

we did not take adantage of the turnovers. if we play in a dome the offense should score more points.penn state defense did impress me. the d-lineman can all run. all i know is alott of thier fans were predicting a blowout becuase of 2004. this team is alott improved on defense.the 2004 offense because of fry and co was still pretty good.

the ncaa is asking for a ton of lawsuits if they try to push some of the d-1 schools into 1-aa. it opens up a huge can of worms. what about basket ball d-1. if you have an attandance policy for football dont you have to have for other sports as well.it also hurts the womens sports.with title 9 if there are less mens schollys for men couldn't the university cut some women programs then to?

i was over on the penn state board and they are pretty much calling our team a bunch of dirty players ,and cheap shot artist. they called out #57. i could not see that play on the personal foul ,and what happened. i thought the game was well payed on both sides.

zen i have to agree. why did we run so much on first down? we werent getting anything. i know you have to keep them honest,but there was no way we were going to establish a running game. we went to jabari on the outs( made yards), and then went away from that? other than that i thought our team especially the d-line played hard all game.

how do you call kennedy tenative? he's not the fastest tb ever,but he knocked the penn state defender over on he td run. he can also catch the ball out of the backfeild. he looked good to me.

compared to two years ago this team is 10 times better than the team that played penn state.the defense played well considering the offense did not do much. it could have easily got out of hand,but our defense did not quit. the play calling on offense kinda of confused me. we kept trying to run the ball on first down. the o-line needs some pass work. i was disappointed considering there are 4 seniors on the line. to many dropped balls. i loved some of the new guys on defense. nothing against some of the guys we had last year ,but i don't think theyll be missed. the new players robinson,jones,williams i thought played pretty well considering it was their first game,and against penn state.we finally have some big guys in the middle (robinson, kiki) who can stuff the run.

i would have to agree with you.how are these other mac schools getting big ten teams at home? does any one know if cinnci makes a return trip? what's the difference if we have to do a two for one,or nuetral field. right now we are always playing away all the time. maybe the 12 game schedule will give mac schools more leverage.i realize someone like michigan penn state and osu will not come to akron. no reason we should always be going to the other big ten teams house though.

the guy is a class act. it's a shame that before last season some of the penn state fans wanted him to go. im sure alott of thier fans won't admitt it now though.the guy like him should be able to go out on his own terms whenver he wants.

i just wondered if it rains heavy does that hurt or help akron'schances? i know if im a db for either team im worried about slipping ,and giving up big plays.

the forecast sounds perfect. we need nice weather for are passing game,and at the same time hopefully the weather will be cool enough to keep our team fresh.go akron!!!!!!!

if the guy was one of the top dl in the country(robinson) then he has to have some talent. hopefully the zips can get some production out of the guy because playing against the big teams we need all the depth at d-line we can get. you might be able to get away with only three to four dl in the mac,but not in the first two games.

thanks for the nice post.people can psot anything,but the first game of the year makes it hard to predict what will happen. that's why we play the games.

niu did not need to run because we could not stop the passing game of niu.i love the zips, but i don't make excuses.the defense got run over the last two games. i think we did do a good job on williams in the first half.i think defnese line ,and lb depth was a major issue last year. that doesn't mean this defense won't be great this year. i just know last year those two guys ran wild.

the 2004 game was pretty ugly. our defense was playing everything.i do think our defense especially the d-line should be improved over 2004.everbody said how good our d was last year.what concerns me is the last two games our defense got run over by niu,and memphis. hopefully pennstate will not be able to just line up ,and run the ball.i think our offense should be able to score some points. if luke has time i think well surprise them on what our offense can do. i guess this game will be a good indicator how far this program has come in two years under jd.

right now im concenred about our own team. with allen going out we have no depth at rb.if kennedy goes out then what? i think our fb was a tb in high school so maybe that will help,and three wideouts?

the frozen bowl at the end ,took away about 20 k in attendance. i know most were in favor of moving the game to put it on espn2. that never happened so u of a got screwed.also they fail to mention that the zips had 15k to detroit.

on the zip home board they said allen is out for the year. not to sound negative,but what do we do if kennedy goes out? plus he can't play the whole game. thank gosh we are a pssing team!!!

nice to see another reciever step up,but we need it in the games (when it counts). i have no doubt our qb, and o-line will be ready at penn state. penn state is breaking in four new db's . if we can find some guys to catch the ball we should be able to put up alott of points.

i have to agree with buckzip.we need robinson to show. you just can't find 6'5 300 plus d-lineman. if he does not show that puts akron at a big disadvantage in the first two games.

i agree. with the brown's great o-line charlie should stay in the pocket,plant his feet, and get sacked about 100 times this year.

i do agree that the first two games are going to test this team. big ten and acc teams on the road are not going to be easy. as far as the mac goes these games mean nothing. we need to win the mac games to go to a bowl.these two games will get us ready to play in the mac,and the rest of the occ schedule.

hopefully the kid will work out at akron, and turn out to be a great player. it cracks me up how these kids talk. it's ok to be confident,but i have seen time after time how these kids come in highly rated, and never see the feild. how many times has a great high school player went to osu and then through grades injury ect just fade away. hopefully he can back up what he says.
