i would not doubt that a asst coach job at some big ten schools winter is getting offers from would pay almost the same as we will offer our new head coach.that's why we will never get a proven winner coach/cordinator ect from a d-1 level.urban meyer by himself will make about 2x what our entire football budget comes to.

im all for giving tree a second chance if nothing comes out of the legal problems.if im kd im telling him one more mistake, and your gone though.he's a young kid who made a mistake,but you need to learn from them.there are to many kids who have to pay thier way through college; so he needs to understand the opportunity he has.

the next two games are going to be a real test for the zips.we could easily be 3-5,but no reason to push the panic button.im sure the kd bashers will come out .just like they do every year if we are 3-5.after that we have five home games in a row plus marshall on the road. we should have everybody back by then.the zips need to win all those games before mac play starts.

the bad part of all this is that even most of the hardcore fans are tired of complaining.the real truth is most people could care less about akron football anymore.they can keep him for another three years if they want to.nobody will show up to the games anymore except the band ,and parents. i thought it would be hard to completely destroy the f-ball team.it's pretty much done. even with the right coach what player would want to come here now? we have a brand new stadium that will sit empty next year unless DR.P does something.i don't see the a.d. doing anything to RI,but maybe im wrong.

the zips cannot afford to keep him around when you have 5k in the stands now.how many season tickets will the zips sell next year? you can't even find people to go to the games even if you give them tickets now.i don't where this "zips cannot afford buy him out."we spent 60 millon for a stadium,and put a few million in the soccer field.im sure DR.Pcan find the money to buy him out.tell me any bcs program would keep a 2-19 coach.none of them would.if we don't have the money to buy him out then we need to drop football.

hopefully getting both o-line back should help our running game.i don't think cmu is as good as ou.i worry about are defense since they got destroyed by O.U. the offense is going to have to controlthe ball ,and keep are defense off the feild.

if the team tanks it the rest of the way akron cannot afford to keep him.we built a 60 million dollarstadium that sits almost empty.look how much money we will lose next year on ticket sales,consessions ect.compared to what he makes it will cost the school alott less to buy him out.akron does not money when no one goes to games.if coach can turn it around with games leftthen we should keep him.if not then he will cost the akron U to much to keep him.

the biggest difference is in the offensive line play.ou really beat up are o-line.i know we have some guys injured; so getting guys back im sure would help.if we could get the running game going with chisom it keep the defense off the feild.i am trying to be objective even though the facts are facts.our defense still gave up over 500 yards to a mac school. if we get our O line personell back i think this could still be a decent offense.i have no answers for the defense.they are just terrible.

i just wonder how many games he needs to win to save his job.if we don't win a game the rest of the year i don't see akron keeping him.the good news is most of the teams we play are almost as bad as us.there are plenty of chances to win a few games.coach I has 18 games under his belt.no excuses anymore for not winning.

i don't understand how people kep saying OVER ,AND OVER,OVER they would like to see some better teams come to akron. you don't kd has tried to get teams here? the bracket uster games are the only way your going to get top 50 b-ball teams here.teams like n.c.,duke,msu ect will only play at there place.they won't come here ever.it's just like in football.teams like OSU,ALABAMA,LSU are never going to play a non bcs team at there home field.i don't want to here how BG had OSU at cleveland stadium.it's like a home game for them.

thats good news?.average 14k with a about 5k of people in the stands. a new stadium that seats over 30k is less than half full.you don't think DR.P and rest of the athletic dept don't see the crowds.i would hate to see next year how many people buy season tickets.

skip zip OSU will probably will fire thier coach.that's the difference between us.we will probably keep our coach. because we accept losing.TW will use an excuse like we cannot afford to pay his contract.how many d-1football schools would keep a coach that's 2-15.none.except for akron.he would should be gone after the season.we built a 55 million stadium,and just put four milion in the soccer stadium.unless the team has a huge turnaround he should be gone at the end of season. how much money are they losing when no one goes to the games anymore.

big zip i wanted winters to get the job.all i am saying is if he builds top d-2 program he may not want to even coach at akron.he could win a national championship where he is now,and at akron that will never happen. on top of that we have never had a winning coach since we went to d-1.we have been the graveyard of coaches,and a bottom feeder in d-1.look at the guy from mount union,and coach porter.they have had chances to take other jobs,stayed where they are.

i am willing to wait to the end of the season to make up my mind.a loss to another 1-aa team would not look good though.he needs to start winning games now.we have vmi,and eastern. there is no reason we can't win both of these teams.a loss to either would would put us at 1-4. that would take a big turnaround to save his job after that.

it's funny how many zips fans don't think winters could coach.if i am paul winters no way i would even coach at akron if offered the job.since we have been d-1 it's been a graveyard for coaches. he would be better off building his program up.wait for the right opportunity to come along. right now we are probably the worst team in d-1.unless coach I starts winning. the next coach is going to have a hard for any decent high school player to come here.

nobody wanted winters on this board.everyone said we need a coach with H.C experience. at least at the time winters did have a H.C. job.i know it wasn't d-1,but what did R.I. have? we could of had fickell also.nobody has questioned how R.I. got the job.now T.W. has a terrible team,and a empty new stadium.he dug himself in this hole.how he gets out of it i have no idea. there is almost now way winters ,or fickell could have done a worse job.

what akron is doing happens every year.they over schedule occ teams they have very little chance of beating.most likely we will lose to cinnci and temple.i just don't see a way we beat those teams. then we go into the fourth game 0-3 against a 1-aa oppenent.by that time we have are usuall 7k fans at the stadium.the fourth game is a must win game.if we lose to a 1-aa team will be 0-4. after that we will be lucky to 5k the rest of the way.if we can't beat vmi then they seriously need to either find a new coach,or consider dropping down to 1-aa.all the die hard fans will never even consider dropping down to 1-aa.unfortunatley there will be only about ten of them if we lose to vmi. if that means firing R.I. at the end of the season do it.i don't wan't hear that we cannot fire him becaus of his contract.you cannot afford to keep him.when you have 5k fans at a new stadium for the next four years how much is that costing the a.d. dept in ticket sales.

a few years ago they had the womens b-ball team from the summer O -games scrimmage a air forcebase team.this was not the air force college.this was just a team from the air force base near where the women trained.sorry to blow your theory about the wnba,but the best women in the usa could not even beat a bunch of guys from an air foce base.

i have no idea about soccer.i got into a disscussion a few years ago about the wnba champs playingst. v's state champ team with lbj.the person said there was no way a high school boys teamcould beat a women's pro team.after he finally watched st.vincent a few times on tv he changed his mind.a good high school boys b-ball team would beat a wnba team.i would not be so sure that the womens world cup team could beat a top high school socer team.how many of those women would cup players would start for the akron men's team.none.there are alott of akron soccer players who play one year, and are off to mls.how many of the women world cup players could play in the mls.none.

i just don't see how it was all the qb last year fault we went 1-11.when you go1-11 you have alott more problems than the qb spot.if we have someone better the coaches would have probably play them.i just don't see how trashing a kid before the season even starts helps.we a terrible football team. what do people expect in one year to go 12-0 this season.this season will probably be about the same as last.hopefully we can win more than one game this year.the bottom line is our current players are not going to go into a phone booth,and change into superman before the osu game starts.

it's already happening.you act like it does not exist now.there are hundreds of former athletes who have taken money for boosters ect.dez bryant,m. irvin,deon sanders,chris carter,reggie bush are just a few.you act like college sports is fine.it's not and it will continue to happen.
