you really think with saban we would have beat indiana.almost beat niu,ky,cuse.saban struggled his first year. his first year at bama they finished 7-6.they lost to that power house U.L.Monroe. all people said when j.d. was here that we needed a pro offense,and a 4-3 defense.now when we are losing games some fans want to go back to the spread.the biggest problem is that we are going on are fourth losing season.coach I better be a good salesmen i don't see to many players that would go to akron if they had any other d-1 offers.the one thing we do have is great facilites.coach I better be a good pitchman.if not his stay at akron won't last long.the a.d. dept helped drive off alott of fans when they jacked up ticket prices. they probably thought they could charge anything since they had a new stadium. the stadium may be new,but it's the same bad team playing.

i just don't think it matters who the coach was this year.do you think we would be 5-0 with saban coaching team. people keep saying there is no way one mac school is 35 pts better than another.well it happened last week. temple put up 50 pts also against us.this will be going on our fourth losing season in a row with two different coaches.people need to accept the fact that this team does not have enough talent to even come close to teams like temple,or niu.i am not saying some of blame is not on the coaches,but people need quit saying we have talent to compete in the mac.i think these last four seasons show we don't.

you have to go back to one game in 2004.let's find one game out of 100 that was six years ago. im sure ou is still talking about that game; since they have nothing else to talk about.that's how bad the mac is in occ play.i i guess if someone thinks they are a bottom feeder go for it.im sure most football fans would laugh at the statement. i am talking about 2010.kentucky would beat any of our mac schools.temple might put up a good fight.

kentucky plays in the sec.they are a bottom feeder? they would beat any mac champs every year. if we find the right coach eventually we will get it right. where have you been.it's been 25 years of terrible football.we had one decent year when we won the mac with a 7-6. toledo has been terrible over the last few years.kids are not coming to akron with four losing seasons in a row.

gp i agree 100%.we overschedule every year.by the time the mac season rolls around we are 0-4,or 1-3. then no one even cares.that's why we will have about 7k at the next home game.you have to give the team a chance to win some games.we are going on our fourth losing season in a row.tell me how our scheduling has helped?

so you would rather play bcs teams like ohio state that akron has to play on the road. that's great logic.we have a stadium that's two years old. we will in play in four times a year.the only reason we have six homes games is because we played a 1-aa team.no 1-aa teams mean one less home game. why build the new stadium for four home games.im sorry ,but no major bcs team is giving home/home games.we have no business playing teams like ohio state.how does getting pounded like emu did help thier program.if you think cuse and indi are coming back to akron again it won't happen in the future.they can get any 1-aa team to play at thier place.

the bottom line is we don't have talent to compete at the mac level.we have no business playing any bcs teams next year.i think the loss at g.w. showed how bad we are. the coach can yell,and scream all he wants.right now we have db's that cannot cover anyone,and wr's that drop balls thrown right to them.GP thinks we can compete in the mac.i hope i am wrong and he is right.maybe things will get turned around once mac play starts.no mac schools have the talent of indi,cuse,or ky.it's the loss to g.w. that scares me.

i think the fans just want to see akron make extra points.make short fg.have a defense that does not let a 1-aa team go up and down the field.have recievers catch the ball when a kid in high school could make that catch. i watched massillon play all year.i would take thier recievers over ours.i know for a fact #9 for them is better than anyone we have at wr.he has a full ride to osu.it's sad to see how bad we are at wr.

if temple leaves after two years that would get the mac down to 12 members.problem solved. unless you can get two teams to join at once it makes no sense.unless they are good at b-ball,or football what is the point of adding more members.the one thing we have going for us is a #1 soccer team.i know soccer is not that big but a conference would be happy with any school that brings a #1 team.our basketball program has been decent also. i know we could compete in c-use in b-ball.i could see mac teams leaving for c-usa if the chance is open.

gp the one thing i do agree with you that some if this is on the players.they need to start playing football. i think the a.d. made a bad choice for coach.i blame some of the losing on a coach,and a.d. who made choice.at some point though the players need to start making players.it's not the coaches fault is the guy drops a pass right to him. i think the blame should be shared around.there is no excuse for missing an extra point.our defense has played about 2 decent quarters all year.i don't agree that we will win some mac games.the mac is bad,but we are the worst team in the mac.i just don't see akron winning more than 2 mac games.we will be lucky to win two at that. we could go 0-12.

i am not crying about our program.maybe you think getting drilled by teams every week is ok.i just won't spend any money to watch them.the athletic dept has drove away loyal fans.you will see this when we open with niu.we wil be lucky to have 7k at the game.the four pack would be a good idea if you could find four people that want to go.

i don't know if we will be 0-12. 0-5 is looking pretty good now though.the reality is we are not a d-1 team. i know we have the new stadium,but we have no business in d-1.temple is in the mac for two more years. drop to 1-aa in football,but stay in all other sports in the mac.i know alott of fans will say we need to stay in d-1,but the truth is four losing season in a row.a new empty stadium.i don't care how good are facilties good football players are not coming to akron.the truth hurts sometimes.

if this happens all the non bcs schools would,or should refuse to play any of these teams.bcs depend on the non bcs conferences for easy wins.if they make thier own division then some of the 60 teams would then be bottom feeders. i agree with gp if this happens.take all the schools that are left and have a 16 team playoff.if the ncaa does not want to do this then start your own new orig.this all about keeping the $ for the 60 schools.in the end if this is done right the schools left in the ncaa might come out better than before. right now non bcs schools are dying off.this may be a way to actually improve are situation.it would take guts,but it might work.the main issue is all the non bcs need to refuse to play the bcs schools.let them play four 1-aa teams if that is what happens.

gp i hope your right.we need to improve these next two games.the next two teams we play will be alott better than anyone in the mac.hopefully we will come out of these games with no major injuries.it will be a big test the next two games.i do agree with gp the mac is terrible.we will have chances to win games.these guys need to play hard,and not commit penalites.they need to take care of the football.the coaches need to establish a running game if possible. if we can't run the ball with some success we will be in trouble.the defense has not shown alott in the first two games. if they are on the field alott i just don't see them stopping these next two teams.

i don't understand everyone forgets roberts can play both spots.steve can play the pg,and roberts at the sg. he can play pg if needed.the ideal thing would be to have a true pg.i am not worried about it.i think you migh see zeke passing the ball upcourt also.it gives us a big advantage to have a 7-1 that can pass the ball upcourt. it's a hard to press a 7-1 guy.

i think we will see what kind of team we have this week.i am not talking about wins/ losses.we all know we are 0-2. i juts want to see this team play hard,and don't make stupid penalties.no turnovers would be nice also. it would be a big plus if we could run the ball on kentucky.shorten the game up,and keep them for having the ball.

the positive is the offense did improve.i know it was only gardner web they still looked improved,and we finally ran the ball.the defense was the biggest dissapointment.how can a fullback get so wide open. he was closer to the fans in the stands then any akron defender.the defense lost the game for us.the kicking only made things worse.thier is no way a 1-aa team should score 31 regualtion points.then the defense lets them score in OT.

i was dssapointed in the defense.the offense scored enough points,and were able to run the ball. i thought our defense was going to be a decent mac defense.i thought aainst cuse they just were tired. i am not so sure now.RI needs to go find a kicker next season even if it means giving the guy scholly. you can't miss short fg,and get extra points blocked.some of that might be the line not blocking also. we really need a kicker for next year.does anyone know what's going on with eric howard. is he in school? if RI can get good high school players than it should not take more than two years. the third season we should be a contender for the mac title.if not then it will never happen.

the only way i m going to another game thise season is a free ticket.im sure by the NIU game we will be 0-4. if i can get a free ticket then i will go.i am not going to spend another dime at the AU football games this year. i know they have a new stadium,but this team is worse than last years.that's hard to do.im sure alott of fans in the final weeks of the season won't want to drop 20 bucks plus parking. they could be home in a warm house watching any team but the zips.

trimmy didn't N.D. lose yesterday?

i did not post much until i saw todays game.i was wondering if cuse might be the best team in the big east. i thought that was the reason for the score last week.that we were better than any 1-aa team. i found out we are one of the worst teams in d-1.we could not even beat a team that was not been ranked in the top 25 of 1-aa.i have to agree with gp about the players.this is a different coach, but the same guys that had three losing season before RI arrived.at some point you can't blame the coaches for everything,or the A.D. for bad hires. at some point which is now. most of the blame is on the guys on the field. a coach should not to spend hours on how to make an extra point,or short field goals.he should not have to tell a D.B. to turn around after 5 seconds to look at the qb. who knows you might get an interception.it's all on the players at this point.they have two tuff road games now. if they have any kind of pride they will go out and play a respectable game.play smart, and hard for four qtrs. i am not even concerned about winning at this point. it's all about pride ,and self respect from here on out. we will see in the next two games what this team is made of.are they quitters ,or fighters?

the only thing that worries me is the coach said most of the mistakes were mental errors on offense. we have a new coach, but the same players who have not had a winning season in three years. i am willing to give the guy time to get things in order.the questions remains is how many mac quality players do we have on offense? i think after this weeks game we should have some better answers.

this game is a must win for akron. this game is more for the players than the fans.they need a win in the worst way. if we do lose this game the reality is 0-4 going into the niu game. i doubt if it will matter to the home attendance,but we should never lose to 1-aa team. if we win then at least we have some confidence going into the two road games. then playing two bcs teams will get us ready for mac play.losing will pretty much means the season is over for the attendance,and we will have about 10k for each home game.the mac season is just starting but i just don't see an 0-4 team winning many mac games.

what's holding us back is the mac.the mac has not tv money to speak of.competing against teams that have millions more than you.we will never be a big time football power as long as we are in the mac.are only hope is to become the best team in the mac,and then jump to another conference.

eguins this is a basketball thread.we are not talking about football.no one cares if you are a d-2 powerhouse,or whatever thing your in.your lucky we are even playing you guys in b-ball.you have not beat us in three decades.come back when you actually win a game against us in some decade to come.
