Yes, box out! Just like Ohio Wesleyan did to us just a few days ago. They were shorter and less athletic than we are but they were sound fundamentally & it made for a decent game. Box out!!!

For the more knowledgeable, what would you say is the main reason we've turned things around this year after entering Big East play: 1. Embick & Co. have made adjustments (if so, what are they?) 2. The team has simply gelled 3. The Big East is actually pretty weak compared to our OOC opponents

Likewise. I was surprised Ryan Prather & Darrion Baker transferred out and equally surprised Tavari stayed. Having said that, he is but one micro-adjustment away from averaging >10PPG... but I thought the same thing last year. He gets off good shots but doesn't (yet🤞) have that knack for getting them to fall.

I noticed last year - and I'm almost positive I posted about it - that in some random pregame warmup Amani was absolutely stroking 3's. IIRC he hit 9 in a row from the corner & none of them even hit the rim. Also, after we first saw he had signed out of Columbus Beechcroft (IIRC he was a surprise late addition to the '22 class?) I remember us finding Amani's high school highlights & we thought his game looked stretch 4 - at the time we were crossing our fingers for our next Xeyrius Williams. It's good to see him start doing that at this level! He could be quite a weapon in the MAC - but, as someone mentioned above, right now it looks like we really need him banging down low.

This is what I was thinking last night. He's great at running the pick & roll & can get down low almost anytime he wants but he must've missed ~7 or 8 shots in the paint last night. He's gotta get those to go down.

I love our new A logo. I wasn't happy about switching from the Z as I had been wanting the U to use a Z logo for about 20 years. However, I loved the new A logo the instant I saw it. As far as letter logos go I think it's perfect. Having said that I think we should use the Z as a secondary logo on occasion. My favorite Akron logo (if it ever was an official logo?) was the old 1980-90's cartoon Zippy

Disappointing but not surprising. We really laid a number of eggs early in the season. The Ohio State game was an abomination from start to finish which was NO FUN to watch AT ALL. Then tying Cleveland State, losing to IU-Indianapolis, and losing 0-1 to Temple, all at home. Those games were atrocious.

Our basketball program is much further along than our football program. While our football program simply needs W's, I wish our basketball schedule was strong enough to allow us, with an upset or two, to be ranked nationally. The most buzz the team ever had (in my memory) was Zeke's senior year when we were ranked #25 for about a week.
