  1. If this guys healthy, we've gone from a 2-man-deep DL situation to a 6-man-deep rotation: 2012 Grice------Caponi 2013 Grice-----Caponi Hollis-----McCray Price----Gauthney The new four (Hollis, McCray, Gauthney & Price) are all 300-pounders. IMHO the lack of depth @ DT is why we lost half the games we lost last year.
  2. +1. UCLA's a very unique gig.
  3. Joe Dunn had a great segment w/ Steve French on 1350 today. Firstly, they both said they wouldn't be surprised of the Zips add another guard to this year's recruiting class. Secondly, they mentioned it's 99% certain we've got a 5th-year senior DL transferring in from Florida State. "Big Time Sports Show w/ Joe Dunn." 1350 AM 3:00-6:00 p.m. It's almost always a good show for Zips fans.
  4. Jeremiah Jackson will be playing in the 2013 Stark-Summit All-Star Game at Malone College. Tomorrow night (3/27). Tip-off @ 8:30. I go to this just about every year. It's fun. Summit almost always wins comfortably. Stark county did win last year; 1st time they've won in a long time. Anyway, I'm going to see what kind of game Jeremiah's got. Grey-shirt him, Coach D.
  5. Tonight on ZipsLive (1350) they were talking about next year and Coach D said we had a point guard coming in who he wasn't allowed to name (Nyles Evans), and that "we might be bringing in another guard, because we're losing Alex a year earlier than we thought we would."
  6. It'd be awfully hard to pass on an offer from UCLA. Minnesota? Not so much.
  7. "A freshman point guard's a disaster." This commercial ominously ran during the 1st commercial break of the Akron -vs- VCU game.
  8. ^^This. Great baseball weather today. Spring has sprung! But, yes, I love spring baseball when the temperature is finally in the 50's & spring is in the air. One of my favorite times of year.
  9. . The videographer was sitting directly across from the one ugly, closed corner of the arena (JAR-like corner). If we could extend the arena around without any closed corners, this would be perfect, as I love the dimensions of the Ryan Center. Here's another link from Stadium and Arena Visits which contains more pictures. (The exterior of the Ryan Center is hideous.) Capacity: 7,657 (with the closed corner) If we'd complete the arena it would probably be right at 10,000-seats.
  10. grand opening video. (Barry Manilow?) [edit] Capacity: 10,600 - probably a little larger than we want.
  11. I don't think anyone added this post-game video from George Thomas & Marla Ridenour. Akron -vs- VCU. They sound like they're at a funeral.
  12. Yup. IIRC Ali Kart had an open 15-foot jumper to win it at the buzzer that rimmed out. That was a long time ago. I remember Randy Moss & Chad Pennington were still @ Marshall - I was watching the D-1AA National Championship game & then headed over to the JAR for the Xavier matchup. Anyway, we need to schedule more A-10 teams.
  13. It did. I tried to get on simply to see what conference they are affiliated with.
  14. Since we need better guard play... more on Jeremiah Jackson. Massillon Independent POY. Again, no mention of any college interest, so Hilltopper's sources are probably correct about Jeremiah being a non-qualifier. Maybe he could pay for college for a year like Tree & Harney? [edit] I'm sure glad we signed Nyles Evans before the Abreu fiasco. But we only have him for 2 years.
  15. How would those of you who know more basketball than me explain this? Fluke? Was Michigan defending them schematically differently? Did we simply allow VCU to get into a comfort zone against us?
  16. Zipsrifle, welcome back! It's been a while. ^^^One of the nicest posters on the board.
  17. ^^^This is why I lean toward a basketball-specific arena. KD's been around the block a thousand times & I trust his opinion on this.
  18. Great picture. I couldn't find a picture where it's set up for hockey or football.
  19. Mark Few has no eyebrows.
  20. Zips Bleak Ending Shouldn't Obscure Bright Future
  21. I'm currently watching the Wichita State -vs- Gonzaga game. It's being played at Energy Solutions Arena in Salt Lake City - home arena of the Utah Jazz. It's a hockey arena, but the fans seem to be right on top of the action (unlike at the Q & at all other NBA arenas I've seen). Don't know how, or why, but it's obviously a design to look at. (With about half the capacity, of course.) [edit] What I mean by that is that the seating in the corners of the arena seem to be quite close to the court, whereas in the Q you're sitting about 40 yards from the court in the corner seats.
  22. Minor league hockey, arena football & indoor soccer would be nice. Unfortunately, Cleveland already has the Gladiators (arena football) and Monsters (hockey).
  23. I'd be interested in this as well. Off the top of my head: Various ice capade shows. Monster trucks/motor cross. Indoor soccer. Arena football.
  24. Maybe. But people love to extrapolate. One of my "friends" on facebook posted, "VCU just got introduced to Big Ten basketball!" He's not a Michigan fan. He's a Columbus fan. Here's how Joe Akron is going to extrapolate: Akron <<<<<<<<< VCU <<<< Michigan < Columbus = Akron <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Columbus.
  25. Obviously not ideal. But whatever it takes.
