  1. I like your ideas, but for ^^^ "no decks or tiers." I think different levels give an arena more of a "big time" feel, even if the seating capacity isn't like an NBA 20,000-seat facility. The decks/tiers/levels (lower bowl, loges, upper bowl) keep the arena from looking like a glorified/over-sized high school gym.
  2. I'm no architect, but I believe the only way for an arena to be expandable is if/when you see an arena that doesn't look finished at one end, i.e., the big wall (e.g., Xavier's arena). They could knock out the wall & expand the seating around to make a complete bowl. Here is another example. This is the seating diagram for the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, MI. Expanding arenas is much more difficult (costly) than expanding a baseball or football stadium.
  3. I don't really know KD personally, but have been following his career since his St.V/M days. (I was an intern at Prudential Securities when he was there following being let go by CMU & got to know him a little bit; he wouldn't remember me. This was while he was volunteer coaching/instructing at the Jewish Community Center. He told me the story of what happened at CMU & had tears in his eyes while he told me. IMO, his personality hasn't changed one bit from those days. Off the court he's very humble & actually pretty quiet.) So, IMHO, I'd say KD would have no problem voting for his own team, but wouldn't vote them any higher than he honestly thought they deserved.
  4. InfoCision Stadium, Part Deux.
  5. At least 8,000 seating capacity but no more than 10,000. 4 levels: 1: lower bowl, 2: loges, 3: club level, 4: upper bowl At least 3 main entrances. Escalators. Brick, glass & steel. The exterior of U of Rhode Island's Ryan Center is awful, but I love the interior layout (sans the corner scoreboard - not shown in the below link). Ryan Center
  6. Noooo, Coach Dambrot doesn't know what he's talking about.
  7. As KD points out, OU is a "spurty" team. They didn't have a single spurt against Belmont. Unfortunately there is no way they'll play that poorly 1) two games in a row, 2) at home, and 3) against us. However, Belmont (who is not a big team) exploited OU's lack of height (and toughness) and I'm expecting us to do the same thing again on Wednesday night. Besides Keeley (sp?), they've got no one who wants to set a foot in the paint. And Zeke ate Keeley alive last time we played.
  8. Done! There are some serious ballers on that list.
  9. Hey Fellas, Just wanted to let you guys know that Coach Bowden will be speaking at my church on Monday night, March 4th. He'll be speaking after our Men's Ministry sausage dinner. My church is The Chapel in Marlboro 8700 Edison Street NE Louisville, OH 44641 330-935-0132 If you want to come for dinner, the doors open at 5:30 and the sausage dinner costs $10. The dinner is pretty delicious and includes sausage, homemade sauerkraut, mashed potatoes & cookies. (Any profits we make help us with "scholarships" we make available to some less-fortunate fathers who want to bring their boy(s) to some of our Men's Ministry activities throughout the year.) If you only want to hear Coach Bowden speak, simply come to the church around 6:30. TB will be speaking in the sanctuary. It will be up to Terry, but there will probably be a brief time for Q&A afterwards. I'm going to be introducing Coach Bowden before he speaks & be passing out some raffle gifts beforehand, so please come introduce yourself to me afterwards. Let me know you're a part of ZipsNation. I'd love to put some faces to screen names. Go Zips!
  10. 1 spot ahead of #25 VCU. Take some, Shaka!
  11. I'm going with 4 friends Go Zips!
  12. Okay, I now see what they're saying. Thank you. I doubt this will deter any Zips fans from attending.
  13. Frenchy lets you know when he's frustrated with a Zips performance, or lack thereof. Believe me, over the years, he's been very frustrated and critical of Zips performances. Haven't we all?
  14. Right. This thread has lost me entirely. Please explain, for those of us slower on the uptake, why BOGO would deter people from coming?
  15. Looking at Zeke's career at UA, I think Akron's been perfect for Zeke. Zeke came to Akron a very raw talent and quite skinny. If Zeke would have gone to a "bigger" program with a bigger spotlight, much more would have been expected of him much sooner. Akron's given Zeke the patience to work on his game and has developed him into a potential NBA player. Kudo's to KD & staff. I hope some other late-bloomer bigs with huge upside see the TLC that The University of Akron has shown to our pride & joy, Zeke Marshall. Go Zips!
  16. Melo played very well last night. In the post-game presser KD said it was weird and that he actually thought the team looked better last night while Melo was running the 1 than when Alex was in the game. And I love Melo's defense.
  17. Picture 14 is a beautiful bird's eye shot of Zeke's throw down. I had to save that picture to my hard drive! Go Zips!
  18. I also saw that last night. Crazy!
  19. Boisterous bronx cheer for Tree's successful free throw.
  20. Well, so much for that. We'd better wake up.
  21. Indeed. Keep playing balls to the wall.
  22. Nice and-1 for Harney. On tv you can clearly hear someone shouting out coaching instuctions to "Harney..., Harney..., Harney...!"
  23. Yes, but he also called us the Akron Zekes, so that's some serious props.
  24. CB had a pretty nice first half. He's getting better/more comfortable. He's very tricky w/ the ball.
  25. Announcers giving Zeke a lot of props on how he changes the game. One of the announcers called Tree a junkyard dog. Very fitting.
