As I peruse the Zips' roster, I don't believe I've ever seen a Zips' team so incredibly stacked through the front seven. IMHO this is definitely BCS-caliber. The engineers at those places have to answer to the bureaucrats and the bean counters. That's precisely why most folks would prefer to drive either a Honda or Toyota in the first place.

OhioVarsity.com ranks Nico Caponi as the 16th best LB in the state. They say that this year's LB class is stocked.NicoI like what they say about him: "Massive run-stuffer in the middle has a staggering 430-pound bench press." :blink:[edit]: Oh, and OhioVarsity.com ranks Chase Hoobler as the 7th best LB in this year's Ohio class. It's around 11:30 and they're presently working on covering the sides of the scoreboard. It looks much better already. Additionally, the back covering seems to be laying much more smoothly than when I checked it out last week. It's not looking bad @ all.Also, I agree about Exchange Street. Sadly, I hope no one uses the main entrance on Exchange. Exchange is flat cruddy. When I bring friends I'm going to walk then through campus and come in through one of the two northern entrances. This way I can 1) show off the beautiful campus, and 2) avoid the shame that is Exchange Street.

Hmm. My guess is that the good Doctor saw that in the picture the endzone rise was not sodded. However, that picture is of the north endzone which remains to be landscaped. So I think the picture is likely from today. Unless I'm missing another give away?

We've simply gotta search for ways to utilize this guy's athletic ability. We can't just use him to long snap, can we? Besides, he only weighs 215. Won't he get creamed on the line?

That's not an entirely bad idea, as the current baseball facility is AWFUL. Leasing Canal Park wouldn't have to be a once-for-all move, as that would be a GIANT stadium for Zips baseball. But it could be until we build a better baseball facility SOUTH of Exchange. (I'm really all for tearing down as much of the ghetto south of Exchange as possible.) I know their thinking behind keeping the athletic facilities in one location, but reallyan the current spot is just too crammed to build both a nice soccer stadium and a nice baseball stadium. An arena may fit though!

I'm on my BlackBerry, so can't really do google image searches & copy'n'pastes. So could someone do an image search of Ohio States scoreboard? I just want to have a reference point by which to judge our new scoreboard. My first impression is that I like it. However, when I look @ it for more than 10b seconds, all those adds kinda make it look like a minor league baseball scoreboard (it looks much like Canal Park's scoreboard.) I just want to see what Columbus State does w their scoreboard. Is their scoreboard 1/2 advertisement space as well?

Do NOT go to Thursday's unless you are under 24 years old. Or you just want a 32-oz cup of cheap beer before the game.There is a BW-3's directly across from the stadium. That will be the "hopping" game day bar. There are also some nice bars downtown, near the ballpark. They are a 15-minute walk across campus to the stadium.I meanat after the game. going downtown is only good if you are a 21 yr old body builder looking to fight someone for looking at your gf. i dont plan on any bars except maybe the akron brewing co. I plan on tailgating and doing athe gameday thing on campus not in a barWhere have you had trouble downtown? I think it's a rather non-threatening place to go. The Lux, perhaps? I'm not a dance club kinda guy, so I don't really know about that joint. But the places I have been - Bricco, Brubaker's, Lockview, Crave, Northside, 69 Taps, Luigi's, Big City Chophouse, Barley House, Mocha Maiden, Musica & of course, the Ohio Brewing Company - have been fine by me.

Well, since someone has already done the work for them, maybe our athletics department could just edit that down and run some television commercials? Tragically, that video that was just "thrown together on iMovies" is far superior to anything I've seen come out of our athletics dept.

They may look better in person and I'll take your word for it. Is the third pole up? I saw the crane in cam one working a good part of the day. But, we can't see the poles on the cam if it's similar spot to the first pole. As I said. I love the Info. I just a bit disappointed in the light pole selection for the eastside stands and this canvas backside to the scoreboard.I understand the Info Sign where the speakers are. But, a canvas backside. I know, I'm with you. I'd like to hear a statement from UA athletics as to why they veered from the origianal design. I'm just guessing that these lights are better for television. Anyway, I had to leave before they got the 3rd pole up, but it's what they were working on, and I'd bet it's up now.

I walked by the stadium today and the lights look pretty cool. The center pole is right up behind the grandstand. I do like the original drawing, but these must be better for television. And again, they look pretty good. The canvas on the back of the scoreboard is another story. It's not even stretched smoothly. However, the graphic is nice and I'm going to assume that they plan on changing out the picture on the back of the scoreboard on a fairly regular basis, which, again, will be pretty cool.

RUMPLEMINTZ! Long time, no hear! But, if I remember correctly, doesn't RMPLEMINTZ typically speak IN ALL CAPS?! Lol.Speaking of long-time-no-hear, whatever happened to Timmyboy?

Btw, I just want to say that, personally, I like playing Malone. For the sheer novelty of it, I enjoy playing one of our backyard little brothers - be it Malone, Walsh or Mount Union - once a year. It gives us a break, it's a thrill for them, and, I think, can foster a lot of greater-Akron community support. Those guys will remember playing Akron for the rest of their lives, and, if we treat them with respect, we may just win some additional Zip fans from those respective schools.

Even though he's stuck in a high school system that really won't be able to utiize him to nearly his potential (I often feel sorry for high school wideouts because rarely do the have QB's that can consistently put the ball on the money) it'll be great just having a tall, freakish athlete lining up out wide. The QB's are gonna be chomping at the bit over the next few years with Brown @ 6'5" and both Bizarro and Shrock @ 6'3". We're gonna be stacked @ WR.

With Shrock, and now Bizzaro, that makes two 6'3" wideouts! Me likes!!
