  1. Absolutely. And if we're looking to add a coach, how about either Dru Joyce II or III?!
  2. Jimmal "Spiderman" Ball! One of my very favorite Zips ever! (His mother used to call him Spiderman.) Inch-for-inch the most explosive player I've ever seen! They have a picture of him in his Zip jersey as you enter the Canton Fieldhouse. Unfortunately the bastards airbrushed "Akron" off the front of his jersey! Lol
  3. Firstly, you guys sound as if without Coach Boals no recruits are going to want to come here. Doesn't Coach Dambrot recruit these kids and build relationships with them too? Would a head coach give that power to a single assistant coach? So much power that if that assistant coach should leave then the program falls apart like a house of cards? I'm not being smart, I'm asking for those "in the know" to let me know how college recruiting works. Why should it matter THAT much if we lose an assistant coach? Our head coach is still here - isn't that why most kids choose one program over another?Secondly, if Coach Boals does indeed bolt for Columbus State (I'm going to puke) then it should make getting a high-quality replacement VERY easy for KD - for it appears Zips are a very quick road to the tip-top of the mountain - first we lose Shaka Smart to Florida and now we lose Boals to Columbus. That HAS to be mouth-watering for any up-and-coming young coach.
  4. Zips DM, definitely work on your own suggestions post!! Idk about you, but the way my mind works, if I put things down on paper it helps me organize & refine my thoughts. The more constructive brain-storming from our band "insiders" the better! I wish all the band members were hard core like the band members on ZipsNation!! You guys need to be the leaders of the marching band and infuse the group with your passon!
  5. I'm hoping we get into a nice preseason tourney and then, once there, we've got to make some noise. Maybe even win the whole thing. If we could make some preseason noise it may make us at least a blip on the national radar for the rest of the season. But it's tough being a mid-major. You've got to be darn near perfect because the powers-that-be are continually looking to jump on any and every given opportunity to discredit you. The BCS -even in basketball- is a weighted racket.
  6. That sounds fantastic! What an intimidating entry into the Info for the visiting team! Before the tour of the Info I was hoping we might be able to walk through that tunnel - I wanted to get a feel of the press box/logue tower smacking the visiting team in the face as they enter for the game. Now they'll have the Info towering over them AND 5000 Rowdies shouting at them! Lambs to the slaughter! How will the band enter the field? Through the same tunnel? Or will there be direct field access from the east stands?
  7. Boston U won 4-3 in overtime. Oh well, great, nerve-racking game. We'll bring the MAC a national championship on the pitch next year!
  8. Boston U scored 2 goals in the final one and one-half minutes to send the game into overtime.
  9. Go Rehawks! They're now up 3-1 with under 4 minutes to play!(This serves to make me mad about the crazy fact that we're not meeting in football AGAIN this year!)
  10. Those are some great ideas!
  11. When and where did you see a blimp formation?! That would rock! Yessss!!! You guys have to do a blimp formation!!!
  12. If giving them the first home game is what it takes I would hope we'd simply condescend and give the first home game to them. <br /><br />But I'd also be surprised if Waters agrees to play us next year because if Waters was ever going to schedule us, you'd think this past season would have been the perfect time for them. They were returning their two best players (both seniors) Bullock & Jackson AND we were supposed to be in a rebuilding year. If Waters was afraid to play us last year (but he wasn't afraid of the 'Cuse?) there's not much of a chance he'll want to touch us next year.
  13. If the opportunity would arise to give schollies to both JDW and A-Payne that would indeed be VERY tempting. However, rewarding Darryl Roberts just seems like the right thing to do.
  14. This is right on. Script Zips is indeed cool, but should be avoided like the plague. Ohioans presently live in an OSU bubble. If we do the script Zips, every single person that is sitting in the Info will absolutely think we are trying to shamelessly rip off OSU. We don't want that perception - even if it is completely wrong. Here, I'm cutting and pasting what I posted a page back on perception, no matter how unfair it may be, is reality to most people:WOW! The script Zips looks VERY DIFFICULT!! My big concern would be perception. A wise man (or a foolish man) once said perception is reality. Unfortunately, exceedingly few people are knowledgeable enough about marching bands to know that Michigan did indeed do the first script Ohio and that a number of bands across America do a script this or a script that. It's nothing unique to OSU. However, as absolutely wrong as they may be, I guarantee that 100% of the spectators at the Info would perceive and believe that we are attempting to shamelessly rip of Columbus State if we did a script Zips.
  15. I'm unfamiliar with the soccer culture. Is it a tradition to wear a scarf of your team's colors? I did notice when SZ was drafted he put a Seattle Sounders scarf around him. I thought it was very cool.We should have Zips Soccer scarves made and available in the Info Team Shop!!!
  16. You're right. The blues are cool as they stand now, sans the gargantuan numbers. Also, perform a search and check out the absolutely sick (I mean that in a good way ) uniforms designed by vmd in another thread. His graphics were serious work!Maybe this thread has gotten too long. Those designs are in this thread (page 5). I'm guessing VMD may be a graphic design major, judging by that and some of the other stuff that has appeared. If not, a re-think of a major might be in order. Lol. Thanks, you're right! For some reason I had thought that we had started a new thread on this topic, but it was simply brought out of an extended hibernation. Yeah, vmd does some crazy work. Very gifted. I can't even figure out how to paste pictures to a reply!

  18. I'd love to see him grow a pair and schedule us. CSU-Akron is a fantastic, natural rivalry that CSU has let die.
  19. We were criticized in another thread for even bringing up the idea. It's too much of an OSU rip off.Rip off of OSU? Who do you think actually started it?........................Thats right, MICHIGAN at an OSU MI game. the band did it in the 90's so who cares? If we don't want it to be a rip off then we won't worry about dotting the "i" That is the real tradition for OSU. Tell me this isn't cool. WOW! 20. You're absolutely right it is reality. Sports logos/marks & uniform design is a multi-million dollar business. People get paid very serious coin to think long and hard about these decisions. I hope that our sports marketing department is putting in overtime on this one.
  21. I thought it was hilarious under the reasoning for Christian's name being considered: "who has nationwide recruiting contacts..."Lol. Yeah, he's got contacts at every halfway house in America.
  22. Good man. Let's just focus on Major Payne!
  23. If Geno wants to build a program the right way, and for the long haul (by recruiting 4-year high school players), yes, he really might have to endure a few bad seasons. Building and sustaining a program with transfers and JUCOs is a precarious strategy and is basically sustaining a program with band-aids and duct tape. It seems that Can't's program is finally about to pay the piper, so to speak. In Can't & Geno's defense, I think they've learned their lesson, as they did successfully recruit 2 solid high school players this year. PG Randall Holt and SF Robert Johnson, both of Bedford. IMHO both these guys are going to be very good MAC players. To stay true to the Can't way, they did sign one JUCO - PF Greg Avila. So you can see our future competition, here are their pages on Rivals. (I hope the links work. I've got a premium membership w/ Rivals and it may be required to view these pages.)Randal HoltRobert JohnsonGreg AvilaIt's ironic that KD used to say that Akron wanted to be like Can't (even though we all know that KD was just employing coach-speak to blow smoke up our opponent's ass as he never for even a second tried to model the Zip program after the flushes.) However, now it appears that Geno understands that in order to compete with where KD is taking the Zips' program he is going to now have to try to model the flushes program after the Zips. Lol.Actually, I like Geno. I think he's going to make a good coach for Can't. He caught a lot of heat with flush fans this year, but I think that's pretty unfair. I think Jim Christian left Can't for the ultra-lame Tulsa gig because he knew the duct tape was coming off the Titanic.2 things:1. I think you're wrong about Ford being a good coach. The last few minutes of our game at Can't this year, he looked completely lost. They won, but I think it was more in spite of him than because of him.2. Christian left for the ultra-lame Texas Christian gig, not Tulsa.1. Sure, you definitely could be right. I just remember watching Geno play for OU. He was always in control of the game & played PG so I assume he has an intricate understanding of the strategy of the game. But I'm no talent evaluator.2. Here you're definitely correct! Got my schools mixed up. Thanks!
  24. In another thread Infofan posted that there will be TWO team shops in the stadium - one on each side. Nice! I just thought I'd pass on that bit of information here in this thread.
  25. Really too bad about Bain. Rumor is he has a disk injury. If this is true his productive playing days may be over. Disk injuries can be severely hampering. While lifting weights when I was 22 I suffered a compressed disk injury in my lower back and I've never been the same. It sucks and never completely heals.
