I'm going to miss Layne Ferrell... well, the team, IMHO, is going to miss Layne. I really wish she would have stuck around for her senior year.

It's way too early, and it may just be wishful thinking or the proverbial honeymoon period, but it just feels to me like Coach Gensler has already kicked our program up a notch.

We're thinking that the players who transferred away actually got walk-on invites at those other schools, not scholarships. π―π― Indeed. I want to get excited about Lingard and Anderson, but the OL play from last year has really curbed my enthusiasm. -

How do you guys feel our OL is shaping up this year? Who do you think to be our projected starters? T - Nate Williams (6-6, 300, Jr.) G - Tyler Williams (6-4, 320, R-Fr.) C - Tony Georges (6-2, 295, Jr.) G - Keylen Davis (6-4, 305, R.-Fr.) T - Kamari Landers (6-5, 290, So.) Kamari is written in sharpie. After that, Idk. This^^ is a young OL but with how underwhelming our OL played last season I'm really hoping both highly-touted Tyler Williams & Keylen Davis step in and make a difference. π€π€ -
Thanks for the photos, @Captain Kangaroo. #56 (OL Keylen Davis) and #27 (RB Lorenzo Lingard) REALLY pass the eyeball test πππ€―

Coach Gensler is also following her.

Got our PG! On phone but got a commit from βultra quick point guardβ Kaia Woods. Transfer from Washington State University. 5β3β guard. WSU website says sheβs originally from Tiffin, Ohio.

You asked some good questions that we should watch for next week. You also mentioned these πtwo players whom I'm anxious to watch next week. Other players I want to take note of next week include: OL's Colin Lyons & Jourden Hale-Frater DT's Kiwan Murphy & Terray Jones (assuming he's practicing), and CB's Devonte Golden-Nelson & Joey Hunter (assuming they're practicing)

You're correct. How'd I omit that? Okay, two good years in my lifetime π

I believe so. But if AJ George is a walk-on, as we suspect, he may not officially sign, correct? -

We Zips football fans have been beaten down and dragged through the mud for... really our entire lives. There was a one-year respite in 2005 but then we fizzled again after that. And we haven't just been sub .500, we've been absolutely abysmal. Most folks around town think you're nuts if you're a Zips football fan. But in Coach JoeMo we trust. A glimmer of hope: In 2005 we won the MAC East, won the MAC Championship Game in Detroit, and then a few weeks later ~30,000 Zips fans drove back up to Detroit for the Motor City Bowl. So... hope springs eternal.

Agreed. You never want to rely on a freshman PG. Having said that, I remember Coach Jackson remarking a number of times how she liked incoming freshman PG Olivia Brown of Fishers, IN. This is from a GoZips dot com press release: JACKSON ON BROWN β "From Day One, Olivia was our No. 1 point guard in the 2023 class. She is an outstanding leader and winner in everything she does. Olivia is an elite defender with a motor and tremendous speed. She is a great floor general who can really run a team. A candidate for Miss Indiana, Olivia can also score the ball with great ability to get to the rim."
