I like JSF. That said, he does have an OU bias that I can understand. But to say that OU has more talent than the Zips is going off the deep end. Nobody in this conference has more talent 1 through 9 than the Zips. Not even close.

Replay at 10PM on STO. I want to see how it looked on TV

Without doubt, the best half of Akron BB that I have seen in 20 + years. Great to see CG get involved and all of our new players were fantastic. If I had a game ball I'd divide it between Nick H, CG, and Q. This was a game that I will never forget

used to drink in K e n t the local gals really stink summers eve a must

The I guess we will disagree on that point. Would you be willing to concede that several close victories would possibly leave team a little drained when they set out on the road for another tough test? My prediction: Buffalo 73 Akron 66
-
Mac foes treated Nick Dials as if he were an ax murderer so I guess this makes sense from their standpoint.

Not disagreeing with your statement at all here. Just saying that it is very difficult to keep a peak mental edge for a few games in a row. If we can go in there and steal this one tonight it would be huge.

This is a very good post. It happens...

Not so, this situational type spot on the schedule happens to all teams, even the best of them.

The Bulls are far from weak, especially at their place. McCrea has a hell of a shot at playing in the NBA when he finishes up at UB

Exactly my point. I didn't say that OU lacks talent but when every possession runs through Cooper and Baltic OU themselves limits their options. They didn't or couldn't get anything out of their wing players. It's all good for them when Baltic and Coop have it going but when they are not playing well they just kept running the same stuff over and over again. I don't think that Groce has much of a clue.

You are correct when saying the crowd was not energetic for much of the game. The refs never allowed the game to develop any kind of flow so it was not pleasing to the eye. Cooper was probably the only guy deserving of a T. All Zeke did was to stand his ground and told him to knock it off. To Cooper's credit he did extend a handshake and apologize. Hell. I'd be frustrated too if I went 2/15 from the floor. Looking back at some OU box scores, it appears that he has significantly regressed. Other observations: Good crowd. Granted that we sat on our hands for much of the game but everybody really got fired up in the last 5 minutes. Good to see Nitro get some good minutes in, he played quite well. When AA was on the bench, Q probably played his best point guard of the year. Nik continues to fail to finish more than he should when close to the hoop. He blew a couple of really easy hoops inside of 5 feet. The Zips played really well when Harney and Tree were on the floor together. Harney had a plus/minus number of +11. Most impressive. Zeke was outstanding on both ends. he didn't block a ton of shots but he altered a bunch Despite a poor offensive game, AA played Cooper really well on D and responded with a couple of huge hoops in crunch time. I'd like to see CG fire away when open. He seemed tentative out there and passed on a couple of wide open looks. Sorry boys, no balloons for you. Quite funny One of our cheerleaders took a hard fall, glad she's OK This new group of MAC officials have been horrible so far. I take back all of the bad things I have said about Larry Scirotto. OU fans may cry about all their bigs fouling out but they were pounding on Zeke all day. Most all of the calls were warranted OU seems to have limited offensive options. If Cooper and Baltic both have sub par games the Kitties are toast. I love the fact that we are closing out these tough victories. Learning how to win is not as easy as it sounds. As deep as we are, I'd really like to see KD make a determined effort to push the pace and let the boys run on occasion. I know that our six through ten are a far better bench than anybody in the MAC. We have made the road trip to Buffalo the last few years. By staying home this year maybe our guys will have a better chance ???? Top of the MAC East at 3-0 is a perfect start, Can we take it in wire to wire fashion ?? Good to see Miami take down Buffalo and also to see Ball State take a loss as a double digit favorite at home.

Good to hear from you JSF. I always enjoy reading your stuff and respect your opinions.

Guards: B This area should improve as AA is getting healthier and Walsh is quickly finding his niche Forwards: A Our depth at this position is amazing. We can go big and strong or quick with perimeter scoring. Center: B Zeke has had his moments, both good and bad. I'm still in his corner and expect him to progress further. He's improved from the T stripe and his sholt blocking and altering continues to be great. Coaching: A I expected some bumps in the road as we gel as a unit but through this process we are winning games. I like the fact that we have won our first two MAC roadies despite not playing our best basketball. This is the mark of a very good team. Overall: a solid B. we are doing what is needed to win in this conference and we still have a lot of growth ahead of us. The new guys have been big already and will do nothing but get better. I am very happy with this team.

Possibly, I was thinking '99 or 2000

3,965 espn may hurt the gate a little

Now that was one hell of a BG team. I still remember them getting upset by Miami up in Cleveland when Ensminger sank about a 35 footer.
-
spang99 will take you all down ! Care to make it a tad more interesting ??
-
Nitro needs to sit and sit now. He's not the only one thats having a bad game but he's been God awful
-
Like our chances with CG and Walsh shooting over that zone tonight. BG has to respect our bigs and pack it in, leaving some open 3 balls for the shooters.
-
Quite a shame. Mavunga is a really good guy.

It's all good. So we agree to disagree, not a big deal. As far as the Miami game though, some credit has to be given to Charlie Coles defense because most everybody looks bad against them. They just slow you down and make you look really stupid out on the floor at times. I have probably sat through 10-12 really slow paced grinders with them when the first team to 50 won. I'm not the least bit concerned with this Zip team as they are still sorting things out and gelling as a unit. Come Feb and March we should extremely tough to beat.
