Please tell me he won't log any minutes in the next few games.

This is an amazing haul. Looks like we made the right coaching choice. Any player who has been a part of the National Team residency program is absolutely, positively top-notch, the best of the best... and we got two of them in one class. September can't come soon enough!GK - Bush, LaGuardia, CraneD - Augustin, Michaelson, Sipos, Tipton, McKenney, Gaustad, SandovalMF - Gavin, Ampaipitakwong, Tutich, Kalan, Bradbrook, Zemanski, Nanchoff, Ilic, HenkleF - Moreira, Zakuani, Nyheim, Erlichman, OstergrenWhat a squad, I hope we get to play Louisville.

BGSU might be a rough one to draw, but if the Ball St. game was any indication, the public is warming up to the Zis a little bit. Austin Peay should draw a good gate just by virtue of the fact that it's a BracketBuster game against the top team in the OVC, and it will be picked up by an ESPN network. It will also serve to inform the tournament seeding committee how much better the MAC is than the OVC. There is no reason the OU game shouldn't sell out. It's become a decent rivalry game, and it will be a revenge game for the Zips as well now since they lost in Athens last month. I've already got my lower reserved tickets, I just need hope that my flight that's scheduled to arrive at Hopkins at 6:23 that night gets in a little earlier than expected!
-
The Bracket Buster didn't mean anything for Akron anyway... the only three Zips games that matter at this point (as far as NCAA Tournament implications are concerned) will be played at The Q March 8-10.
-
I'm sure there will be some great signs waiting for Walther when he comes to town. Just got my tickets for Ohio U... they still had some left in lower reserved.

AD, I have seen it, that's why I got such a kick out of it. "You're leavin' me in the trenches takin' grenades John!!!"

BB, who was responsible for the "Erroneous! Erroneous On All Accounts!" sign?

Well said sgm! *Snort* I'm a lot of things, but I'm no hippie... I didn't go to Can't.Anyway, I wasn't talking about ME being decked out in OSU gear... I don't even own any. I had on a grey hooded sweatshirt and my "Fear The Roo" hat the other night. I went to an OSU football game last year... didn't wear any of their stuff then either. The OSU vs. Akron debate is old and tired. My point was that there a thousand better ways (many of which were suggested in this thread) to encourage people to wear Zips gear than to walk up to them and say that their clothes are disrespecting our "house". CK said it best, no one was born an Akron fan. People are less apt to become one when someone has the gall to accost them and tell them to (even kindly) not wear OSU gear in our building.
-
No, no, FearTheRoo has made a very salient point. In fact, it'd be great if he'd come over and pick out my clothes for me before the Buffalo game. I mean, if you have no reservation about approaching a complete stranger and informing him that his attire doesn't conform to your wishes, surely you'd be willing to go the extra mile and make sure that I'm dressed to your liking on Sunday, right? What about if I wear khakis, will you stop me and say that I'm treading dangerously close to representing MAC foes Western Michigan? What if I wear a replica soccer jersey? Am I defiling our basketball arena by wearing soccer gear in there? Did you stop any Can't fans and inform them that when they come to our gym, you'd really appreciate it if they would wear "Fear The Roo" t-shirts? There are ways to endear people to your cause... and you probably just made ten people hostile to it even if they didn't say so. The same guy who was so quick to trumpet the need for social grace when the student section holds up a sign he doesn't like doesn't see the audacity of criticizing a complete stranger's clothes right to his face... and further thinks it's the poor sap he just brazenly insulted that needs to "think before he acts". The irony is killing me. You'd make a great communist, FTR.

How could any UA fan not get behind this picture? A-plus.

I think his point was that it definitely didn't cross the line.Crossing the line is when ESPN has to bleep out Maryland fans because they're chanting "#&@% you J.J." at J.J. Redick when Duke comes to town. Crossing the line is the "#%&$ West Virginia" sweatshirt that got onto national TV during the Rutgers/WVU football game. Crossing the line is throwing stuff on the court. A "Can't Statecks" banner doesn't cross the line.

I don't often post in observation threads, but here goes...* Ced of course was amazing tonight... when he had the ball just outside the arc and his defender went past him, he sort of looked both ways, and all but shrugged his shoulders before burying what I believe was the fifth of his six threes of the night.* I thought the refs were doing Can't favors at every turn, most obviously when Ced was violated on a fast break, no call was made, and then Travis got called for going over the back on the rebound. We took more foul shots, but we were called most often for away from the ball and offensive fouls while Can't was getting whistled for fouls on the shot. Can't missed the front end of two key one-and-ones as well. * If Quade could have capitalized on that alley-oop pass or finished the jam when he got fouled taking it up, all would have been forgotten about what was a pretty quiet performance from him. He's worth having in the game just for the chance that he'll grab a key offensive board or a throw down a momentum-swinging dunk. * Dru quietly amassed 18 points, mostly at the line. Having him on the bench to sub in and take the foul shots when Travis left the game was key. Didn't have the three going on, so he attacked the hoop more often than usual. * Aside of The Rowdies, there were about 5,500 anemic fans in the arena at several points tonight. Thank God for that run at the end of the game or it would have been a waste of what turned out to be an electric crowd. I hope we pack 'em in like sardines at the JAR a few more times this year (especially when Walther & Co. come to town).* We beat Can't by a wider margin than Duke did.* The Can't State Sucks chant was not used often enough or long enough.* If we're ever in a situation where we need to miss a foul shot and get the rebound at the end of a game, let's hope Wood is at the line. Perfect line drive that bounces back to him every time. * Undoubtedly one of the best experiences I have ever had at the JAR, see everyone on Sunday!!!

Hate to say it when you shoot 25 more foul shots than the opposition, but I thought the refs favored Can't if they favored anyone.

The difference between Akron and K.E.N.T.
w00t replied to Kiel Fleming's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Gold Jerry, gold. -
Yeah, we all know that Walther's primary concern about his college experience is finding the right academic fit. The right academic school for that kid is one that doesn't penalize you for turning in your homework with spittle all over it.
-
Glad you're here, but I should warn you that if you cross me, I will unleash a torrent of disparaging verbiage at you, the likes of which you have never seen.I kid, I kid, welcome to The Nation.

Sportsbook has Akron -2.5

At the moment it would appear that way, but as the season wears on, there's virtually no chance that Nevada will stay as low as #48 and virtually no chance that Loyola Marymount will stay as high as #55.
-
Ouch... either we win against Nevada or we don't have a leg to stand on in making a case for an at-large bid.

That trip to Oral Roberts is looking a little bit more difficult now... ORU just beat Kansas.
