  1. He would be an upgrade over the 5'7-8" 165 pound sleds we have now. Please note that I communicated the same message as you without the negative description of our current cornerbacks, several of whom it is rumored are dropping out of football to become professional jockeys.
  2. 5'10", 210, excellent size for a Zip cornerback.
  3. You beat me to it. Why does that comment make him a 'genius'? I thought Einstein was a genius. Haven't found anybody who comments on sports blogs to be a genius. Me too. Yet. No one in football is a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein. Yes, he makes great Bagels Thats genius! Isn't he the guy who spent all his time at the Cheer's bar. He didn't seem all that smart.
  4. IMNHO, this is a real good home schedule next year on both an entertaining/interesting level and importance of winning the MAC East (If Miami can do it, we can do it) level. Some think getting our butts kicked by BCS teams is an indication of where the program is...maybe. I believe a better indication is how we do against other non-BCS D-1A teams. Playing FIU at home will allow us to better measure our program in the world of reality. Please tell me that you are joking. Nobody cares about FIU or VMI. That is a joke of a home non conference schedule. A gauge of our program needs to be against the Indiana's of the world. We already play garbage in the MAC. Measures against other garbage teams does nothing to get fans interested. That's the difference between "serious football fans" and "front-runners". Serious football fans (i.e. people who find the time to post on football message boards online) will probably like to see real football skill and talent come in to a stadium. Front-runners (like most Ohioans) want to see wins. If they hear from their 'knowledgeable football friends' that the Zips ought to win this weekend, they'll be out there for the game and the after-win party. BCS programs are not going to draw in Akron (although they'd draw out more of ZipsNation). WINS will draw out people around here. So you think the Zips can beat VMI and FIU?
  5. "low" interest in Akron from a 5'10" 155lb. undersized cb. I don't pretend to know much about recruiting, but that hardly seems magical... Has he heard of the proposed Human Centipede strategy?
  6. So Mintz I'm thinking if there was a "should iCoach get canned" survey, we should put you in the "yes" category. I think we can fix two weaknesses if we get the doctor from "The Human Centipede" to sew together three or four of our undersized defensive backs to form a really impressive defensive lineman.
  7. I'm pretty sure the folks in Boise would have a problem with this particular proposal.
  8. 80% you say? I think I read that number earlier in this thread!
  9. The MAC will be extremely fortunate if they go 2 and 2 this bowl season. That would surpass their win total in the last umpteen years of bowl play?
  10. No. There was that many there, or very close to it, during the first half. In the second half, it did start to resemble Infocision.
  11. Change the names on lines 24 - 31 of the article and it sounds like the author is writing about the Zips.
  12. There was already a thread about Mike going to a school nobody knows. Snow storm + bad record = low attendance. I'm not sure what Waddell could have done about either of those. In fact, their best marketer, Coach Kelly, is at ND now. I'm interested to see what Mike will be able to do when he is driving the bus. From all I can tell, he is really good at changing one word from Turtle to Roo and selling tickets for an undefeated BCS level team. I don't think those things make for a marketing genious. Time will tell. snow storm + bad record = 27,496
  13. I was watching the Stihl Timbersports Series on ESPN2 this afternoon; it’s on right now. It’s the first time I have tuned in since the big Springboard scandal. And what do I see? Starting of the saw is no longer a part of the stock saw competition; just pick up that prestarted saw and start cutting away. I think the people in charge of competitive swimming must have taken over timbersports. Well it will be a cold day in h e double hockey sticks before they get me to watch this sham again.
  14. Yes, I observed that the stands were about 80% full which means that they had more people there than we had in our last 4 home games combined.
  15. Can anyone id the chick in photo 11 who is busy checking out the officer's buns?
  16. It's about time. I have been saying all year that the backup mascot should have been starting all year. I thought the replacement's gestures and enthusiasm were very good although you could tell he hadn't been getting many practice reps with the cheerleaders.
  17. "Keeper," "Net-minder," or "Goalie" – The only player on each side that may legally touch the ball with his hands. "Bad Form" – When the goalie is not involved in the play but is still touching balls.
  18. I wonder which "crowd" was/is bigger; the one at the Akron/Buffalo game or the NIU/Miami game going on right now.
  19. The Zips will win this one by 14 points.
  20. Looks like we got the first step of the Miami solution correct. We also hired a guy with no head coaching experience.
  21. YSU is now 4-1 on the year. As surprised as everyone is in town by our early success, it would appear that the W you guys got over us was a good one. Maybe you are right. 5 days have elapsed since your post and you guys just played UW-Milwaukee. They are not good this year. How did you do against the toothless Panthers?
  22. Look in a mirror.
  23. If we could move YSU from the Horizon to the MAC it would improve the rating of both conferences.
  24. Rather than to say "I told you so" regarding exit from the list, lets just say............ The bottom ten is is a particularly valuable resource for the Zips. We should be making every effort to schedule Memphis, New Mexico, New Mexico State, San Jose State, UNLV and Western Kentucky for football games.
  25. ETSU has gone to the NCAA in each of the last two years. They played almost exclusively a zone defense and the Flyers hoisted up an amazing 38 three point attempts making a whooping 13.
