Will 2011-2012 Be the Year They Make "The Jump"?
Zipmeister replied to UAZip0510's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Actually, because of their obvious computer skills they were hired by the Athletic Department to see what the record book would look like in different fonts. As this project is scheduled for completion before the end of the Spring term, they will be rewriting the record book this year. Next year, who knows? We about to see. -
Will 2011-2012 Be the Year They Make "The Jump"?

Where'd this come from? I haven't heard anything like that. Their interactions with myself and others. If you think it’s bad now, just IMAGINE how rough it would be if you were still uakronkid You can make a big difference in this regard Zach. When you are hangin with them, stop calling them "My Lord." -
Finally, a wide receiver with decent height. Welcome Tyrell.

First, let me say that the coolest camera shot of the day was toward the start of the Steelers/Jets game when they showed a Jet picking his nose and wiping the booger on (I think) a coach’s coat. Speaking of picking, picking today's winners was simple. The Bears only had 2 players on their roster that hailed from a team that is currently in the MAC. The Packers had 8. Packers win. The Jets had J.T. on their side which is worth having 4 representatives from other MAC schools. Only problem for the Jets, the Steelers had 5. Steelers win. The MAC numbers don’t lie. Packers over the Steelers in the Super Bowl by (8 – 5) THREE.

Finally, we have a cornerback with decent size.

Been awful quiet here since our gun pointers got waxed in West Virginny. We were clearly outclassed. I discovered some video from their rifle camp. If we are going to compete, we must start signing the same caliber of recruits as the Mountaineers. http://www.videodetective.com/movie_traile...r/P00038991.htm

We are actually overachieving. Ball St. proved to be the better team because they beat us on the field. Yet, we beat them in attendance! Those folks need to work on their attendance inflation factor.

Zach is definitely a "glass is half full" person. How else can we explain his interpretation that the lone ranger is the top juco qb in the nation when the article on which he bases the claim says that Moore is somewhere between #20 and #40. Also, it would make no sense to be heating the Rubber Bowl locker rooms at this point as the facility is no longer in operation.

Back on point.... we beat the spread.

How did Ohio do against Can't and Miami?

Before you all go off half cocked, check this out............ http://www.rpiforecast.com/bb.html then you will be qualified to go off full cocked.

Make the trip? Are you serious? The club baseball team and I have already booked our digs and purchased extra protective spectator gear! http://www.euro-suites.com/

My favorite Kitchen quote from the article..... "To go back to Akron would actually be worse for me." Maybe we can use this in recruiting.

Botzum was once a thriving canal town, if I remember the Towpath Canal plaque description correctly. Nobody lives in Botzum anymore. Being old fashioned doesn't always serve well. If by old fashioned you mean that he resembles Oliver Hardy, I have to agree. Now if he can hire an assistant who looks like Stan Laurel, the Michiganders will really have something going for them.

Potential College Football Scandal
Zipmeister replied to Dave in Green's topic in Off Topic, Smack & Jokes
Maybe they look at the rosters of the schools in the south and figure they won't get on the field. If you are good enough to be offered a scholarship to an SEC school, you are probably more likely to get on the field sooner at a Big Ten school. Kids want to play. The same kid might sit on the bench for a couple years in the SEC and then get bounced because of oversigning. One point about the SEC that nobody has made. This is going to come off as mean, but here it goes. You can be a near retard and get a scholarship to an SEC school if you are a good football player. You may be right about the playing time. There is no way to know though. I did mention the grades to play at an SEC school are much more lax than most. That gives a huge advantage. If you heard some of the interviews with SEC players during bowl games, you would realize the academic standards are less. I respect the hell out of the programs that are top notch and have high standards. Stanford comes to mind immediately. Although with Harbaugh leaving they will probably drop. Excellent prognostication. Anyone familiar with that school knows they were considered the LSU of California before Harbaugh became their coach. -

Since we have had two NFL'ers since I have followed the team, I don't buy it for an second. Derr & Alcorn. Both recruited to kick in the Rubber Bowl too. We actually had a string of great kickers in the 80s - Graham, Heckman, Klaus, Dombrowski...and they kicked in the Rubber Bowl. I would not hold that against them. They had no choice. That is where we played our home games

This is one reason I don't like beginning conference play w/ the Fellons. I don't know their team yet & thus don't really know what to expect from Saturday's game. Thanks for the summary! Well done, again. The MAC has put all the big rivalries on opening weekend, and it really doesn't make sense to me. Students are not back in classes yet, there has been no buildup in terms of the MAC schedules and everyone is still coming off the holidays. I much prefer putting the big rivalries (Can't/Akron, Miami/Ohio in particular) at the end of each round through the conference. Provides for a lot more buildup and puts those games at a time when you will hopefully have maximum interest on campus. Another thing to add regarding Can't, they have had a lot of problems this year against zone defenses. The zone seems to frustrate Greene and without quality shooters to bust the zone their offense can go stagnant. KD mentioned in the post-game after ORU that the team would be working on some more zone looks during this little stretch off. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see us go zone a lot more than we are used to in this one. + 100%. I can't believe the Eastern/Toledo game is scheduled for this first day of MAC play. Not only will the winner of this contest vault into the West lead, they will also be picking up their 4th win overall of the season.

This guy is big enough that he can play both cornerback positions for us at the same time.

Mattocks to Leave...after 2011 Season
Zipmeister replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
I think I am going to add "work rate" to my list of favorite expressions. It's not as good as "price point," but it's close. -
Given the results of the game last night, look for TP to have some new tats soon. Those MVP trophies go for over a $1,000.

Hard to grab a lot of rebounds when your opponent is shooting 60%+. If you assume defensive rebounds are easier to come by than offensive rebounds, ORU had 8 offensive rebounds so even if we held them to 0 our total would only have been 22. Another key statistic is that ORU turned the ball over 21 times to our 6. That's 15 less chances to get a defensive rebound. It was actually 39-20 in rebounds according to the official box score. Somebody tell these guys..... http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=310032006
