Nobody has informed 247 about his #1 ranking. -
Class of '22 Verbal Commits
Zipmeister replied to Blue & Gold's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
Your post has sparked the interest of ZipsNation for a FCS caliber DT. It's VERY similar to the discussion that was going on last month in the Potential Portal Additions thread. Move along folks, nothing to see here. -

I can't prove it, but my guess is we have never had recruits from this many states in a single class before. -

I must not have been paying attention when this kid committed. Your post motivated me to check out his offer list on 247. Oh my goodness. How in the world did we get this guy? -
Early 2022 Two Deep Depth Chart - Defense
Zipmeister replied to catdaddyp's topic in Akron Zips Football
I think "meaningful minutes" would apply to any true freshman who plays in more than 4 games and gives up his redshirt. One doesn't have to be in the 2 deep to do so. Thanks for the tip on reading posts before making my reply; I never would have thought of that without your heads up. -
Early 2022 Two Deep Depth Chart - Defense

If the discussion involved the offense I would agree with you on Golden, but I think it is unlikely that any of these three will be switched to the defense. -

Early 2022 Two Deep Depth Chart - Defense
Zipmeister replied to catdaddyp's topic in Akron Zips Football
Neither of these 2 deeps suggest any freshman will see any meaningful minutes. Who is your best guess, if anyone, to make your suggestion false? -
I am nonplused by your claim of being complacent.

Two little known facts about Antavious Fish...................... 1) There is a possibility that before going JUCO he visited D2 Fort Valley State. 2) He was not the only kid on his high school football team named Antavious! -
Ah, real grass. We would have the field looking like the (pre-artificial turf) Rubber Bowl in no time at all. The good old days.
-
What are the odds a camera or two will allow us to watch the turf replacement remotely? Seems like a good suggestion some of you who have contacts with the decision makers should push. I really enjoyed watching the stadium construction.

Coffeyville football has a pretty good rep, so I find Ant's highlight film a bit surprising; is he a linebacker or a nickel? At this point we have to be thinking he's a walk-on for the Zips, right? -

Antavious - Urban Dictionary https://www.urbandictionary.com › define › term=Anta... A true leader, always willing to give a hand even to those who wouldn't do the same. Always happy and on the go. Naturally gifted, and a hopeless romantic. -
I know this topic isn't really a BB topic, but I don't know any other way to contact the folks in charge of ZipsNation to congratulate them for avoiding the use of the new hidden Z logo. I like the old Z that appears in front of all the Subforums on ZipsNation and hope they stay around for a long time.

Did I miss some kind of NCAA penalty against the Zips? Why are we down to eleven scholarships for 2024-2025 and only seven for 2025-2026? Whatever it was, it must have been pretty serious.

Hopefully he graduates before it's time to collect Social Security. From 247...................... August 21, 2017: Commitment Kyle Thomas commits to Rutgers Scarlet Knights

There are two things you can't teach - height and slow. -
Probably the same number of people who pay to watch either the down-on-the-depth-chart guys stand on the sidelines during the game or the players who don't even get to dress for the game sit in the stands. That doesn't mean me and Football Grandma can't take our hats off to both them and members of the marching band.
-
And what about the members of the Zips marching band. They put in just as much practice as any footballer and play in the same weather conditions as the footballers, but what kind of recognition do they get? Do you see any write ups about them in the newspaper or stories on the radio or TV? Have we done a position group analysis by musical instrument for any instrument here? I'll bet even the most ardent Zip fan can name two trumpet players in the Zips marching band. These kids are shining examples of successful multi-taskers what with all the instrument playing and walking they do. My hats off to them.

If you think our linebackers have been small you should take a look at the cornerbacks on some of our past rosters. Many of them could have continued their athletic careers as jockeys. To quickly gain CBs of normal stature, I occasionally suggested that we sew them together in pairs (the human caterpillar approach), but they never took my suggestion. -
I hope this is correct, and now we have Undercuffler to back him up.

Joe Moorhead Officially Hired as Head Football Coach
Zipmeister replied to Dr Z's topic in Akron Zips Football
My copy of the University of Akron Magazine arrived in the mail today. There is a nice interview with Coach Moorhead on page 14. My favorite part follows: What are the similarities and differences for you between teaching and coaching? As a coach I view myself as an educator. Anything that a teacher is trying to accomplish from a methodological and development standpoint are all the same things we’re doing in football. It’s just a different medium. As a teacher, you do your research on the material, you present it to the students, they study and then you have a method of ensuring they understand the material. In a classroom, a test is done in a quiet, sterile environment with a lack of distractions and variables. As a coach you do the same things leading up to the test. But for the test, you may do it in front of thousands of screaming people, in the rain, with people trying to rip the pen out of your hand and kick the chair out from underneath you. -
I meant no disrespect to you or your famous ancestor, the 19th century pioneer, sanitation engineer, and inventor of the Jack Squat Wagon.
