  1. Holy crap, it's beginning to look like the ABJ realizes the Zips may have a football team.
  2. Well according to this guy I'm in for a surprise. I think whoever takes him on is in for one also.
  3. I believe the word "four" is missing from the quote. I have never heard the phrase "keep sawing wood" before. In the context in which it appears I surmise that it is something positive, but I'm not sure why that would be the case.
  4. This post also belongs in the KY thread. WOW, do you suppose we could get Ohio State or Michigan to pay us to come to Akron to play?
  5. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I will be surprised if he moves significantly up the college BB food chain.
  6. So you are seriously saying that you think the point of the initial post in this thread was that you are not allowed to feel bad about adversity affecting the Zips? I don't know you and I had never heard of you until I read your post four hours into this thread.
  7. That was a very diplomatic response 72. I probably would have questioned his reading comprehension.
  8. I must have missed the post where somebody told you that you were not allowed to feel bad about adversity affecting the Zips.
  9. Zip fans who feel bad about losing Ali Ali to the portal. I wonder how you would feel if you were a La Salle fan where they are currently holding a player fire sale. 13 members of the team have elected to abandon ship rather than play for a 70+ year old white guy.
  10. I know all 16 people who have posted on this thread are pretty pumped about it, but that's a pretty small sub-sample of the general population. Any evidence that a significant portion of the remainder of the Akron area is excited about the Spring Game?
  11. I seriously did not know Clark played high school ball, but the internet is loaded with video. I was right; he was good. Wonder why he didn't go on to play in college.
  12. Hey, the Zips got out of the weekend series with WMU 2 and 2.
  13. I don't think the Captains question about Football grandma really took the discussion in a different direction. And regarding my response to his question; just saying you never see Clark Kent and Superman together. Continuing the football discussion, I wonder why Clark Kent never played football. I think he would have been really good.
  14. She may have pulled a UAkronkid and come back as catdaddyp.
  15. The good news is I don't believe losing to a D2 team will negatively impact the Zips RPI.
  16. The Pittsburgh Pirates named JT Brubaker , entering his third season in the big leagues, their Opening Day starter on Sunday.
  17. For what its worth, I have a great example of an exception to the rule. You may have heard of Dave Rimington. He was a pretty good center back in the 80s. He was listed at 6'3" while a Cornhusker and as a Bengal. I'm 6'1" and had occasion to stand next to Dave on numerous occasions. He was at least twice as wide as me, but an inch shorter. Maybe in cleats and helmet he was 6'3", but when the Bengals broke their huddle and the offensive linemen trotted up to the line of scrimmage together, he looked like a midget.
  18. Baseball update as the Zips near the halfway point of this season. For reference, there are 299 D1 baseball teams. The Good: While the MAC average non-conference strength of schedule (NCSOS) is currently ranked an unimpressive 154th, the Zips’ NCSOS is currently ranked an incredible 6th. The Bad: The MAC average RPI is currently an awful 210th. The Ugly: The Zips’ RPI is currently a dismal 274th.
  19. I notice that you believe some of these guys are not at the ideal height for their position. What is the ideal height for each position on the offensive line?
  20. 247 has him at 6'1" and 220. Someone must have left him out in the rain.
  21. Actually players can use the portal to facilitate more than one transfer. Case in point - Dayton got a transfer guy named Weaver after he played two years at Southern Cal. He played at Dayton for two more years but because of COVID he has one more year of playing time remaining. He recently entered the portal again, but this time to avoid sitting out a year (which he could choose to do) he must either graduate or get a transfer waiver.
  22. Now if Freeman leaves or we can switch him over to a guard position, next season the Zips have a shot at fielding the only D1 all guard roster.
