  1. Seems the right place for this discussion to me: non-football thread for a team that doesn't play football (well).
  2. There will be plenty of chances to watch the baseballers during the weekend. Once the weather gets semi-acceptable, weekend home series against conference opponents about every other week will be common place. Re weekday games: the norm will be a single game each week (about half at home) against a nonconference foe. Apathy on the part of fans from all stripes will be responsible for low attendance; if they average over 150 per home game I will be impressed.
  3. I'm pretty sure both of them also eat puppies.
  4. This should ease the transition into FCS.
  5. The 70-71 season was complete before June, 71, so I'll give you "one full season." As for "possibly two" - either your memory is fading or them must have been some really good shrooms.
  6. UNI is in Division 1 football, but I believe their FCS status precludes their admission into the MAC. That does not mean that they wouldn't be competitive in the MAC or that I can't wish that they were in it.
  7. Did you follow my suggestion? If so you also have money to burn today.
  8. You do realize that runs during timeouts don't count. right?
  9. Are you sure we will be ready to make the step up from St. Francis and Bryant?
  10. This years contest has the potential to be a classic battle; like David vs Goliath only instead of Akron slinging rocks at Troy we will use cat turds and hope they are overcome by the smell. Go Zips
  11. At 16 one should give the points till the cows come home. 5 Star lock. You will be a rich man one week from today.
  12. If you watched the game, you did see the worst team in the MAC this year. But why limit ourselves to the MAC? I think we have a shot at The Bottom Ten title this season. Go Zips.
  13. I think you have it right on the money. Even though I'm pretty sure the Zips are not going to win a single game this season, I have a gut feeling the Zips will pull out a 4 -2 win this weekend. (or it could just be gas).
  14. I think it's a good thing they didn't. There offense would have likely penetrated deep into our territory again and again. Things could have really gotten messy.
  15. I must disagree. Terry's Achilles heal was blind loyalty to an OC who didn't know his ass from a hole in the ground. The sooner he would have shed that dullard from the staff the higher the probability that he would still be our head coach.
  16. I have found something positive to say; UAB did not get a return on either our 5 or 31 yard punt.
  17. OMG! Total ineptitude Kickers that can't kick, punters that can't punt, Dbacks with no clue (maybe because of no pressure generated up front), ineffective offense. We will be hard-pressed to win a game this year.
  18. Which MAC teams that are not scheduled to come to Akron could we add and which scheduled team should be dropped to make you feel better about your $60 investment?
  19. At most D1 schools with a football team, men's basketball usually has the second biggest budget of all sports.
  20. If no outsiders know what the suspensions are for how can you say that suspensions like these usually have nothing to do with the coaching staff? Seems like the cause of most suspensions is violation of team rules (which directly involves the coaching staff) , and usually doesn't have anything to do with violation of NCAA rules. Just wondering how, out of all the possibilities (academic issues, legal problems, team rule violation, etc) you conclude that in this case NCAA violations are the root cause.
  21. Your ??? for Darrius Harris' weight nudged me to conduct some research to try and figure what ??? was in pounds. As a result, he gets my vote for most interesting get. A Bio on the Western Carolina U. web site mentions the following: Prior to the start of 2018 fall camp Darrius Harris came from NCAA Division III Los Angeles Valley College. In that year, WCU listed him as a 6’4” red shirt sophomore weighing 260 pounds who saw action in three games. Strangely, he is not listed in either their 2018 or 2019 roster. He could be the first Zip ever to play as a RSo after playing as a RSo two years earlier for someone else, and although he appears to have become shorter over the last two years, the answer to my original question is: ??? equals 260.
  22. I think both Texas and Oklahoma would have less interest in joining the MAC than UNI.
  23. Would REALLY love to see Northern Iowa in the MAC. It took 23rd ranked Iowa state, playing at home, three overtimes to beat Northern today (and they are also good at basketball).
  24. "No Liability Once Injured" (releases the university from financial liability if the player is injured.
