  1. Did you notice what happened to Tosu in its 1st game. Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks they were WAY over-rated.
  2. I'm positive that some blowhards are not overly sensitive jerks that think they know what other people want.
  3. I think you are going to be happy. We have a punchers chance against New Mexico State and UMass and I'm hoping one of our conference opponents takes us too lightly and stubs their toe. Sadly, I don't think we can count on beating YSU.
  4. I'm POSITIVELY hoping the Zips can win 3 games in 2020.
  5. Growing up in Ohio I always thought I lived in the Midwest, but when people in Nebraska learned that I was from Ohio they routinely said, "Oh, back east." kreed5120 Posted 17 hours ago The only reason there is a Gonzaga of the west is because given where they're located, there is no conference for them to move to. If their campus was located anywhere east of the Mississippi, they would already be in the new Big East. Xavier and Butler can't be the Gonzaga of the east because the Big East isn't a mid-major conference. Far from it actually. You make an excellent point. My answer remains the same. My next best candidate is Cincinnati.
  6. Sitting here at home perfecting my social distancing skills I decided to take a crack at answering the question of the day (is Dayton the Gonzaga of the East). In short the answer is no. Here’s the longer answer: While Dayton enjoyed incredible success this season, it was due largely to the fantastic performance of Obi Toppin buoyed by the excellent performance by Jaylen Crutcher. I haven’t seen a single player raise the status of a team like Obi did this season since Larry Bird at Indiana State. Toppin will be gone next season and it is highly likely that Dayton will return to being a pretty good (but not top 25 rated) team. To be the Gonzaga of the East a team needs to demonstrate its national relevance on a protracted basis (not a one year flash in the pan). Better candidates for the GOTE title include Butler or Xavier. Now if Dayton outperforms my expectation over the next decade, I may be willing to modify my opinion.
  7. Assuming any games are actually played, I think you might have the most accurate prediction, but I'm still pulling for 3-9. Go Zips.
  8. IMHO, it would be great if this is the first time those lying SOBs are telling the truth?
  9. They did have some good wins early, but UC wasn't one of them. I watched that game; Tosu had 19 points at the half. Neither team looked good, and the visiting UC squad sucked worse than Tosu in the second half to lose by 8
  10. A whopping 4,698 people showed up to witness the Zips lose by 9 in overtime in an NIT game most Tosu fans thought the buckeyes were too good to be in. I predict 16K+ will be there for next years contest. It's a shame we didn't play them in 2019 because they were WAY overrated.
  11. According to the NIU web site Eugene is majoring in General Studies. I'm guessing English composition is not a critical component of that program.
  12. Add me to the list of people/TV networks who never claimed poker was a sport. Not even ZTZ claimed that.
  13. Can you back up your last sentence with some facts? Please keep in mind that there is a difference between participants and audience. Millions of spectators attend professional golf events each year and millions more watch televised golf events. I copied some info from the internet to provide you with just one financial measure of professional golf. The PGA TOUR's charitable total, which includes a record $204.3 million in 2019 to bring the all-time total to $3.05 billion, includes donations made by tournaments on the PGA TOUR, PGA TOUR Champions, Korn Ferry Tour, Mackenzie Tour-PGA TOUR Canada, PGA TOUR Latinoamérica and PGA TOUR Series-China. eSports is a sport just like tidily winks and other games that don't require the level of strength and physical skills that most people associate with sports. Rest assured eSports will probably be an Olympic sport before too long and by that time the audience for eSports will have grown to a much higher percentage of the audience for golf or tennis (it may event match that of Poker (which isn't a sport either, it's a game).
  14. Does Clemson count as a winning program?
  15. At the start of last season the 6 returning assistant coaches at Tosu had a combined 18 years at Tosu. Clemson is pretty good. At the start of last season the 10 returning assistant coaches there had a combined 62 years at Clemson. Two of them had longer tenure than the head coach.
  16. I'm beginning to think you may not have your finger on the pulse of D1 basketball. You thought a team that is/was rated behind Akron (and approximately 120 teams behind Dayton) was the Gonzaga of the east?
  17. The more you watch the longer your life will seem. Same effect as being in prison. Go Zips.
  18. One thing that many successful football teams have in common is consistency in the coaching staff. These guys are like rats jumping from a sinking ship.
  19. To those relatively new to ZipsNation your pledge to surrender your left nut sounds pretty serious. However, not so much once one realizes that you actually have three testicles. Go Zips
  20. OK, they won the MAC again. Now, it will be interesting to see if the boat load of provisional qualifying times they turned in increases the number of points they secure at nationals. My guess is the effect will be marginal and demonstrate the gap between the haves and have-nots. I appreciate the improvement the team has made and hope it continues, but believe they have a LONG way to go before they are nationally relevant.
  21. Looks like we should also be going after Wiggings.
  22. Others agree with me as we come in 125 in the first preseason rankings!! https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/28687236/preseason-sp+-college-football-rankings-alabama-back-no-1
  23. I'm surprised: lower level is pretty full. It looks like FOX interviewed Brice Jones on the way back to the locker room at halftime.
  24. Like most, if not all, of you I'm pretty stoked about the start of the XFL season tomorrow. Have tickets to the Guardians/Vipers game and to avoid offending any former Zips I got seats dead center in the middle of the South end zone. For half the game I'm wearing NY gear and the other half Tampa gear. If you can't make it to the game it's supposed to be on FOX.
