https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/cucho-nancy-zelarayan-more-inside-columbus-crew-s-journey-to-mls-cup from the end of the linked article …For Bezbatchenko, an Ohio native, this journey is also rewarding on a personal note. He went to high school only “four or five miles down the road” and his parents are day-one season ticket members who sit right at midfield. His 92-year-old grandmother drives down with his uncle from nearby Akron for every home game, too. Which prompts perhaps the question: Does his grandmother get to hold the trophy if Columbus beat LAFC? “It's funny, all she wants to do is hug Darlington,” Bezbatchenko said. “She's an Akron Zips fan, so she's known Darlington since he was playing there, even before. She'll probably go straight for him rather than the trophy. But absolutely, if we were lucky to have that moment, it would be great if she could hold it.”

@TennZip Does TDS list Joshua Bartels among the 2023 recruits although he didn't join in the Fall? I notice he is not included in the list above. I look forward to Josh and Caleb Borneo reuniting with the Zips. They looked good together in the Crew Academy.

Great to see Zips Womens Soccer posting their recruits' signings!

Ryan Kingsford is a great player and a tremendous guy. Sad for us that he transferred, but it seems to be working out for him. Happy to see him doing well and I also hope to see LMU advance to the 2023 College Cup. It's a tough road, but it can be done as we saw our 2018 Zips do. Coaching and mentality. Humility and confidence; not arrogance and cockiness.

Sorry to see that former Zip Marco Micaletto won’t be in Columbus next season but happy to see the Crew and Crew2 fans giving him the appreciation he earned.

Happy to see former Zip Ryan Kingsford getting to the Round of 16 with his team, Loyola Marymount, after upsetting #13 seed UCLA. LMU hosts JMU, who upset #4 seed Georgetown as @TennZip previously mentioned. Also happy to see former Zip Ryan Combe get to the Round of 16 with his team, the Vermont Catamounts, who upset #12 seed UCF. Unfortunately, I don't think Ryan has played any minutes in †his NCAAT. Vermont travels to Morgantown to face #5 seed WVU.
