  1. As I figured would happen when I posted "no help" from our MAC Tourney opponents. EDIT: Once again, tOSWho gets a seeding when they weren't even in the top 16 in RPI or in the top 25 in the Coaches' Poll. I wonder who controls the NCAA MONOPOLY?!
  2. I spoke with Tom several times in the Spring during basketball season and again in the Team Shop at Infocision when it first opened, and he immediately responded to my greeting and was very cordial. EDIT Perhaps he has soured given all of the (deserved) criticism concerning iCoach and the direction of Zips football. Of course, if he can place my face with my name, he probably doesn't appreciate my concerns about toning down the LeBron connection (which they seem to have done in the JAR) either. [And, before anyone goes ballistic in favor of or against LeBron, my comments have just been along the line of "the Zips should be celebrated in the JAR, not LeBron". For me, it's all about the Zips...even when LeBron played for the CAVs, I didn't like the overkill on the logos, banners, etc. This is The University of Akron, not LeBron State. If he wants to donate money to build LeBron James Arena at The University of Akron, that would be awesome and he could plaster his image all over it because he paid for it.]
  3. I have full confidence that the Zips can defeat anyone in our bracket at Lee Jackson Field. As far as Maryland, it will be tough (if they make it), but it will be on a neutral field. I have my tickets to California and look forward to seeing the Zips take on any of the other 3 teams that make it there with us! GO ZIPS!
  4. +1 Best wishes to Humpty.
  5. Congratulations to Steve. I would have loved to see him play for the US, but it's cool that he'll be playing with his brother.
  6. Unless I'm missing something, there's only 3 forwards listed as going to South Africa. Also, this game is an international "friendly"...since it doesn't count, I believe the point is to get a look at all of these players. Therefore, I expect Teal to get PT.
  7. LMAO, I missed that the 1st time Thanks! Kinda like Steve French when the Zips scored on the kickoff return against Western Michigan in the "other football". BTW...GREAT news concerning Teal. I'll record that game and watch it when I get home following work and the next debacle at Infocision Stadium.
  8. I'm expecting to pay a mark up on Stub Hub. I saw them in Columbus this season (4-0 Sounders), but want to experience Qwest Field.
  9. This would be great. I don't want to see Zakuani leave the Sounders because I'd like to go to a game in Seattle next year, perhaps vs KC or Chivas, or another MLS team where some of our current players may be. From what I've seen, best atmosphere in MLS (and possibly any major league sport).
  10. Interesting tweet from Steve Zakuani (http://twitter.com/stevezakuani11) "Received some good news for my career! The future is bright! Life gets better! Hope 2 share w/ u all soon, gotta deal w/ some logistics 1st!" - today Z.I.P., or anyone, any idea as to what Steve may be referring? Move overseas?
  11. Can you provide a link to the RPI? I see the Zips are still #2 behind Louisville in the NSCAA poll, but I didn't find the updated RPI rankings. NCAA Soccer RPI. Thanks. That worked once I cleared my cache. Edit: No help from our opponents this weekend: Buffalo (106), BUGS (108), W. Michigan (127)
  12. Can you provide a link to the RPI? I see the Zips are still #2 behind Louisville in the NSCAA poll, but I didn't find the updated RPI rankings.
  13. Zips v Bulls on Nov 12th, I believe. WMU v BUGS
  14. Thees last 2 paragraphs from ASN say it all... "UP NEXT The Zips now go into a bye week but return on Wednesday the 17th to take on Miami (Ohio) at home at 6pm. The game will be televised on ESPN U, unless of course ESPN realizes their mistake and opts to show reruns of the previous Olympics’ curling finals to bring in more viewers. But hey, don’t let the bad football turn you away as tailgating should still be great! NOTES Nothing interesting, just more bad football."
  15. My plans for December are set, too...I BELIEVE! GO ZIPS!
  16. Thanks Z.I.P. It's AWESOME that a school on the west coast is so excited that Akron has scheduled to go out there and play them. to our Men's Soccer Team. edit-We should all be PROUD of what they have built and continue to build. GO ZIPS!
  17. You got my point exactly. I understood yours and CK's comparisons given the difference in rankings, but soccer is a "cruel" game because of limited scoring opportunities and 1 point per goal (as opposed to 3-pts for FG's, 6 pts for TD's, etc.).
  18. I totally agree, but I think that all of us know that on any given day, any given team can upset another; so, I just don't like focusing so much on this loss. It's over and can't be changed. What's important is how our team responds. I believe in them; I'll be there and support them; and, I know they can reach their goal. But, they have to make it happen.
  19. That's what I was thinking. Who needs any seats? The team can play inside the Rubber Bowl while the fans stay outside and tailgate.
  20. What I take away from this, is that I won't be surprised if some team ranked way lower than them beats them in the tournament. I now know this team is capable of that. What I hope is, that it is a reminder that they need to stay focused no matter how weak the opponent seems. It's human to lose focus during a long stretch after you've defeated top competition; this needs to be a reminder that they need to stay focused no matter how weak the opponent seems . EDIT: Actually, what you should take away from this is that I will be following them on game cast, at their remaining home games, and I plan to be in Santa Barbara.
  21. It's really sad that they put so few butts in the seats on Josh Cribbs Day.
  22. I respectfully disagree with both you and CK. There's not as much margin for error in soccer as there is in American football. It was definitely a big upset, but I wouldn't compare it to Akron defeating the #1 FBS team in the country, no matter the RPI difference. I think we should concentrate more on Coach Porter's other tweet..."Keep the Faith". I've become spoiled in the last 2 seasons given all of the Men's Soccer Team's success. But, they are human and can and do make mistakes. Hopefully, this is just a minor setback from which they'll recover and go on to pick up 1 of the top 4 seeds (and home field) in the NCAA Tournament. GO ZIPS!
  23. I vote "let him finish the season", but move the last 2 home games to the Rubber Bowl where iCoach can be in perfect harmony with a venue befitting his abilities.
  24. He can find his way to campus...er, I think. Maybe he carpools with TW --- in tune with the environment, then.
