  1. I'm with you CK. That's the first thing I noticed when I saw this schedule yesterday. It would be great to defeat the Hoosiers in Futbol at Jackson Field on Friday and then defeat them in Football at Summa Field on Saturday.
  2. It's not "man-love" to appreciate good people and to let them know they are appreciated. Sorry that you choose to have such a depressing outlook.I come to this board to get up-to-date and inside information on all things UA and maybe talk some smack. But, I don't come here to bash people.Quickzips - I didn't have a problem with GoZips original post. I thought it was well written.
  3. Count me among those who are disappointed by the negative comments on this thread. In addition to getting choked up during his speech, Coach Boals came across very sincere in a one-on-one conversation about his time at Akron and it's being difficult to leave.During the celebration, Coach Dambrot made us take an oath to keep the faith in this program (referring to what he knows many fans were doing when the Zips were losing in the 1st round of the MAC Tourney against Toledo). He's absolutely right, everything doesn't play out exactly the way you'd like it to, but KEEP THE FAITH. Shaka Smart moved on, and KD found Jeff Boals. Jeff Boals is moving on, and I trust that KD will find another great assistant. (By the way, when I told KD one-on-one that we had a good man...referring to him, he immediately replied "I'm not going anywhere".)Again, best wishes Coach Boals.
  4. I added some new and older pictures of the stadium. They are atInfocision Stadium.Scroll down to see the latest photos with the new dorm foundation work. (Latest pictures are 6681-6704. I cannot get the older pictures to move to the beginning for some reason.)
  5. As an Alumnus, I'll 2nd the highlight comment and also say that the most fun I had at the MAC Tourney was at the semi-final game (against BUGS), when I sat on the edge of the Rowdies section and joined in the chants.
  6. As far as sports venues go, ours is a bargain.
  7. It may look great, but can you imagine that place in November? Is it really a good idea for one of the Big Eleven's least successful teams to be exposing their fans to additional misery.
  8. Great pics. Thanks.
  9. Count me in. Good luck to coach Boals! But the Zips are and will be again. OSUcks!
  10. A MAC team has won a National Championship. Bowling Green won in Hockey in 1984 i believe. I don't believe Miami would have brought the MAC a National Championship. I think they are in the CCHA for hockey.Miami is in the CCHA. How fitting though, i'm glad they lost. I hope it felt the same way that bank shot felt for us.BGSU did win in 1984, but they were CCHA for hockey then, the same as I believe they are now. No MAC national championship.

  12. Thanks for the help ZW.Go Zips!
  13. They're back. I tried the modified link that you made in my original post, but it still didn't work for me. That's why I unshared the folder. Your link seems to work now.
  14. As witness to the bet, I totally agree with CK. We need to continue to progress. It's time for the Zips to schedule/upset some Top 25 teams...CSU did it 3 times this year. This MAC title, an "attention-grabbing" schedule, and some early success next season should increase attendance.
  15. Since the MLS regular season starts the last week of March, you can surmise this game would be vs the Crew reserves --except for one thing. MLS has eliminated the MLS Reserve League competition, and reduced roster sizes from over 30, to something like 24 or 21(?). So I suppose this is how MLS will be getting PT for the subs this season. If it were a pre-season game, there would be a chance of seeeing Evan Bush in a Crew uni, as I expect them to try him out. But by April, who knows.Thanks. I never looked at the MLS schedule until after my previous post. Once I saw the MLS schedule, it didn't make sense to me that the Crew was playing the Zips.
  16. AWESOME spring schedule! The defending MLS champs at Lee Jackson Field and playing Wake Forest, Indiana, Michigan, and North Carolina.
  17. Thanks, but that's based on verbals. I'd like to know where the Zips are with official signings. I've seen a number of press releases from other universities, but none from UA concerning soccer letters of intent.
  18. Thanks CK!BTW - Do you (or does anyone) know how the Men's Soccer team is doing with NLI's? (I know it's the other "football", but some information, here or in the soccer forum would be appreciated.)
  19. If only he would take Rick Boyages with him!
  20. That's AWESOME! Congratulations to Steve.Seattle Times: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/soun...sounders15.html
  21. You talk about Bob Huggins as if the only reason he left was money. If I remember correctly, in going D I-A in football, UA pulled out of its conference affiliation. Without a conference, it was next to impossible for the Zips to get to the Dance. What coach wants to stay somewhere with little to no opportunity to get to the NCAA Tourney? I also don't understand why a JUCO transfer has to necessarily be a problem. Some people just need a "second chance" in life. I applaud coaches who are willing and able to support someone who just needs some extra support in his life or a chance to prove that he can do the work. I wouldn't be so quick to stereotype.
  22. Wow. I didn't realize that Hixon had an engineering degree. It was enough for me just to get that degree...I can't imagine playing football at the same time. Thanks Captain.I agree, too. Hixon in a landslide. (If they didn't broadcast NY Giants games in Cleveland, I'd have no NFL games worth watching.)
  23. The Arizona Republichttp://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/s...23cards-CR.htmlGiants too much for Cardinals..."We had two of our normal starters out of the game, but the guys rose up and played well," Giants coach Tom Coughlin said. One guy who rose up was receiver Domenik Hixon, a third-year player out of Akron. With Jacobs out, running back Ahmad Bradshaw was replaced by Hixon for the first time this season.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------New York Timeshttp://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/24/sports/f...mp;ref=footballHixon Makes the Most of His Chance to Play"With tailback Brandon Jacobs out with a knee injury and receiver Plaxico Burress exiting with a sore hamstring after one route, the Giants needed a spark for their offense. They discovered one in Hixon. His two long kickoff returns Sunday helped the Giants seize control in their 37-29 victory over Arizona. Hixon seemed to make plays no matter how he ended up with the ball — returning, receiving, rushing."---------------------------------------------------------'Kudos & Wet Willies,' Domenik Hixon editionhttp://www.bigblueview.com/2008/11/24/6690...willies-domenik"Kudos to...Domenik Hixon: This is the only possible place to start. Hixon was the difference in Sunday's outcome. Why hasn't this guy been returning kicks all season? An 83-yarder, a 68-yarder and a total of 180 yards on three returns. He hits the hole on returns so much faster than Ahmad Bradshaw that it's ridiculous. Oh, and throw in six catches for 57 yards, one run for 11 and two punt returns for 15. That's 263 yards of offense on 12 touches for a guy Reese picked up on waivers. Thank you again, Denver Broncos. It is absolutely scary that the Giants have a guy this good, and he is a backup. I probably shouldn't, but I am starting to wonder if the Giants are just as good -- or better -- when Hixon is on the field and Plaxico Burress has a baseball cap on. "
  24. Sorry, but I disagree. Compare our current loser coach to all the loser coaches before him and all you have is more losing. Don't blame it on the MAC. CMU, WMU, Ball State all find ways to rise to the top of the MAC. Miami has done so, Ohio has done so. Bowling Green has done so. At Akron, people are so used to losing that they just accept it. That is not the way to ever become a winner. A good coach would have motivated his players to perform better than that against the dregs of this Conference. So lets go replace him. And if the new guy doesn't work out soon enough, lets replace him. And if the new guy doesn't do what we want, replace him. Same goes for the quarterback. Oh wait...this is not the Browns.I'm with you on not accepting failure. But lets not replace everyone who makes a mistake. This team is close to being that perennial MAC powerhouse. And JD is the one that has gotten them there. Now he needs to make the proper adjustments and get the proper recruits to push us over the edge.We have already see a look at the 4-3. The defense is obviously going to be the focus in the off season this year. I bet we'll see a number of other adjustments next year and I will be excited to come out and watch this team next season to see if they can get over the hump.Ok, I'll agree with you that I don't want to keep replacing people over and over...we'll get nowhere with that. JD talks about bringing in people to talk to and motivate his team; perhaps Mack needs to bring in some folks to motivate his coaching staff. I just don't get the feel of a winning attitude. Look at our home record this year. I sure hope next year that JD emphasizes over and over that we must defend our home field (Infocision). It has to be a place where other MAC teams dread coming...not because it's a crap place like the Rubber Bowl, but because the Zips put the hurt on you. He also needs to go into a season with the attitude that we are going to win the MAC and not just do better than the "MAC media" believes. The media doesn't give a crap about the MAC...there is no analysis behind their picks.
