Enrique played 11 minutes scoring 6 points making his only 2 point attempt, missed his only 3, while going 4-4 from the line. 2 offensive and 2 defensive rebounds to go with 1 assist and 1 steal. Unfortunately 3 turnovers and 3 fouls while the team was -2 while he was in there.

I was disappointed as well he didn’t get in after 3Q. It looked like the coach was going with starters for the first half of the quarter and then would sub half way through. In 3Q the starters built an ~10 point lead before they came out and Enrique’s unit basically gave it up (no fault of Enrique). In 4Q, the starters built a similar 10 point lead midway through and I think the coach thought he would let them finish it out but then the lead started to slip away as players got tired and yet he still didn’t sub in 4Q or overtime. I guess it is just summer league and winning isn’t everything but was hoping Enrique would get back in there.

I just checked out their schedule and didn’t see Wayne on there and it looks like indoor sports were discontinued after COVID as they repurposed the gym space. Barkman is committed to OU but the Nicaraguan southpaw Otto Solorzano is a Junior this year and I haven’t seen that he has committed to play anywhere so maybe he will want to stay close to his family in Northeast Ohio.

And Aziz’s coach just got hired by Cal. Wondering if he would be looking to transfer again even though he would need to sit a year?

I assume maybe he wanted to be starting PG and Groce told him that would be Tavari or transfer guard and his minutes would be 5-15 and he wants a bigger role.

So does this pretty much guarantee our Thursday game will be no earlier than 4:00 if we win against Ravenna and then 6:30 if we lose? The 1 seed game at 11 and then assume 2.5 hours between games (2 hours for game and 30 minute warm ups), 4 seed at 1:30, 2 seed at 4:00 and then 3 seed at 6:30. If any games go to OT then those times will be pushed back.

I missed one that I just saw in @Illini Zippost about Groce's first year. Eric Parrish went from Akron (2017-18) then to Bosssier Parish Community College (2018-2019) where he averaged 18 points, 9 boards and 6 assists and was the #4 Junior College prospect when he committed to Nevada for the the 2019-2020 season but was only there in the fall of 2019 before signing with to UTSA in December 2019 (played 2020-2021 season) before closing out his career at Grambling (2021-2022). So on 5 rosters in his college career! Eric Parrish finished (assuming) out his career at Grambling State this year starting in 9 of the 20 games he played in averaging about 5 points and 5 rebounds a game. I thought he was an All-MAC capable player 2 years down the road but injuries must have derailed his playing career.

I still think we turn it around and win the tourney in Cleveland. As others have mentioned, we have been in these last 3 games and lost it in the end. I have faith that Groce and the players will be able to fix things when it is win or go home in March. He did that OU and I believe this team is capable of doing it this year.
