  1. There goes Ohio's at large birth, blasted by Memphis for second straight loss
  2. Middle Tennessee fans love how Frenchy and Dunn call the games Link Speaking of which, did anyone hear or see anything on how Frenchy did for the championship game of the Puerto Rico tournament for Oklahoma State?
  3. Boise State just went to Creighton and won tonight. It was as easy as shooting 60% from the field and 50% from 3 with one player scoring 35 points. Stats
  4. Brownies play the late game Sunday so barring overtime and where you live, you can catch the game and make it back home in time for kickoff or close to it. Just DVR it and you will be caught up midway through the first quarter.
  5. Thanks TPS. My vote would be for Atlantis as I wanted to go there at least once in my lifetime and to catch some Zips bball would kill 2 birds with one stone.
  6. Anyone heard where we might be playing a regular season basketball tournament next year? I would like to make it if everything works out.
  7. What happened to Brenes and Gallego? Brenes didn't play at all in our last game but didn't know if that was cause of senior night and they wanted to get Schmitt some playing time. Is Gallego hurt?
  8. Click on schools Akron on Mac-sports. Then select Live Streaming 2.
  9. Saw Bowden and staff at BW3 for lunch today. Gameplanning for the game Saturday. I'm taking the Zips in a shootout.
  10. Caponi and Pressley will be out this week so it is definately going to be up to the offense to put some points up.
  11. GoZips, do you think we might see Melo and Alex on the court at the same time for 8-10 minutes a game? Alex improved his 3 point shot tremendously last year so I could see on offense having Melo start the offense for some penetration and kick opportunities out to Alex.
  12. I said after first exhibition game that Serna would be the one freshman I could see as being one and done in the pros. He will be missed.
  13. Dr. Z, who is your cable provider? I had that issue for basketball but for football it is only recording the first show on Monday for me. I have Massillon Cable. It was annoying this winter having it show up like 7 times.
  14. Full schedule up on Gozips without gametimes. http://www.gozips.com/sports/mbkb/2012-13/schedule Do we really need to play Tiffin, Malone and John Carroll all in the same season? I realize two of the games are exhibitions. Have some decent out of conference opponents coming to the JAR in Princeton, Cleveland State, and Middle Tennessee.
  15. Thanks for the inside scope DB! I was wondering if you went into hiding since the Lady soccer Zips took down VCU last month but it's good to have you back .
  16. But I came away impressed tonight. I was expecting a much closer game score wise (maybe 21 points) but we can move the ball on offense and have enough playmakers. We had too many drops and too many turnovers that led to short fields. It could have been a different game without the turnovers and missed field goal early on. I also think Bowden went for it on fourth down more times in one game than Ianello did in 2 years. I also appreciate going for it instead of a 40+ yard field goal when you are down 21. Shows you are there too win the game. Only complaint was I would have liked to see Pohl put in a series or 2 earlier to get the game experience but I believe in Bowden. Rather than a 2-3 win season I think we will win 4-5 and will be competitive in most if not all MAC games. I can't believe I feel this good about a 42 point loss.
  17. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/...e-nittany-lions We lose a preferred walk on transferring to Penn State.
  18. From someone who has just recently picked up soccer in the past few years and doesn't know much, I think the first half was a little rough. I have season tickets in the reserved section nearest the "Hill" so we get to see the action on the right side up close. I thought Yedlin and Koroma could not get on the same page especially in the first half. Sometimes they both went outside, sometimes inside, sometimes they would pass thinking the other would make a run and he wasn't. All these things will be fixed the more they play together (only been practicing about a week). I will say that probably 80% of the scoring will come from the middle or right side of the field. To me I was very impressed with Serna when he had the ball. Very quick and decisive. Needs to work on getting his left footed corner kicks into the air. His first few were easily cleared. If Quinn is on the field at the same time I would think he will be taking those. Serna would be the only freshman that I think could be one and done and playing in the pros next year. Koroma still seemed a little raw to me. I don't see him having 15+ goals this year filling in for Mattocks. I see him in the program at least 2 years and improving greatly. I think we should have tremendous balance in scoring this year with a few guys in the 8-12 (Koroma, Schmidt, Serna) goal range. Also as mentioned Dershang and Trapp were held out do to injuries so that will change the lineups and rotations when they are back. Random observation on Phil Fives is that the way he ran with his elbows out made it seem like his side hurt for some reason . And I love Prince, I mean Deandre's hair .
  19. I got my soccer season tickets in the mail and after numerous years it looks like Akron is going to start having a ticket exchange program thru Ticketmaster. Hopefully this will be available for basketball and football. You have to sell for face value or more and when sold the buyer prints electronic tickets. The money then has to be used for next years season ticket purchase (nonrefundable) or to purchase tickets to another Akron event.
  20. I like Red Robin for chains.
  21. Speaking of Goodyear. Larry Brown turned down the NBA to play with the Goodyear Wingfoot's out of college back in the day. Larry Brown Bio The 5’9” guard was named to the 1963 All-Atlantic Coast Conference team and drafted in the 7th round by NBA’s Baltimore Bullets. But Brown opted to play for Goodyear's (Akron, Ohio) Amateur Athletic Union team, winning the Most Valuable Player Award in the 1964 AAU Tournament.
  22. Live Stats Not looking good early on. Can't is 5 under led by someone who eagled the first par 4 of the day. The Zips have played more holes so far and are 3 over. There are 4 rounds though and anything can happen.
  23. A verbal for the class of 2013. http://www.the-daily-record.com/news/article/5179936
  24. But my Smithies beat those state champion Norwayne Bobcats
