For the spring game would you prefer to split into two teams or play offense against defense? Which setup can we expect for this years game?
-
Unfortunately we had scheduled a trip to take the little guy down to Disney for the first time that week but I would have loved to have gone.
-
I just realized I have a work trip to NYC for March 27th and then I looked at the NIT bracket and the semis are on the 27th at MSG. Here's hoping we make it to NYC and I get to catch the semifinal game.
-
Probably all of those except ORU. There is an option with the Bracket Buster game to delay the return trip a year (not sure excatly how that works), and the past 2 years both VCU and Creighton have been delayed the 1 year.
-
Plus we have the return Creighton bracketbuster game from 2 years ago. They could be a top 25 team when we play them.

This site has Akron as a 7 seed. Iona is a 2 seed so maybe akronzips71 will get to see the Zips in person yet this year. http://www.bankrollsports.com/blog/nit-bracketology/

I'm with Johnnyzip on this one. I think Western is actually the more dangerous team. I would prefer to play Can't. Also, any chance we could set a MAC tourney attendance record Friday night if Can't wins? Usually we play them in the finals, but this would be in the semis so we would get some Buffalo fans and OU usually brings a decent crowd.

Per Wiki the Puerto Rico teams are Providence, North Carolina State, Southern Mississippi, Akron, Oklahoma State, Xavier, Tennessee and Penn State

http://espn.go.com/college-sports/story/_/...son-source-says Looks like 2011 was the last year in the MAC. I wonder how much the MAC will get for letting them go with short notice, $500k?
-
Not to get ahead of ourselves to next year but I will be interested to see who KD has guard McDermott most of the time. If it was this year I think it would be the Serb. Since he will have graduated, I think Tree will do most of it, with Q, Harney and even a little Zeke in there.
-
I think Drexel will get an at large. They have been hot at the end of the year winning 28 of their last 30 games including the VCU game.
-
I was hoping one of the Abreu to Zekes dunks would make top plays on Sportscenter. Instead Porrini's "block" on Walsh was like #5. Very disappointed.

First Quincy Guilliam reference at 15:28 in the second half.

We won't see Egner. Pretty sure he will be a medical redshirt as long as he doesn't play anymore this year.

Thanks. We did a song for the last year of Brookharts football teams and then the NCAA soccer champs so hopefully this team ends up more like the soccer than football team. I'll plan on doing another football song when Bowden gets them winning again. My wife got this parody thing started for her senior honors project where she rewrote 4 broadway songs to accounting lyrics. From there I decided I would try Zips athletics and get her to sing them. We really enjoy it.

In the third installment of remakes to Carrie Underwood songs to Zips athletics, here is my wife and I's basketball remake of Last Name. She is on vocals as well. http://www.zipsnation.org/images/Zips_bball_parody.mp3 Maybe next time we will switch up to a different country artist and go with Miranda Lamberts "Gunpowder and Lead" for the rifle team. Lyrics Tonight / the dance team / and cheer squad are pumping up / the Blue & Gold crowd, baby Tonight / the Zips are / gonna play hard The JAR is going to be crazy Tonight / KD is pa-cing on the sideline / and he's stompin' his feet, baby Q drives the lane as part of his game and dishes to Tree and his huge frame He slams it home, and the ballgame is on With Zeke defending the paint, this will be fun Swatting the shots and getting the fame (Hoops!) Rico / passes / the ball around the back / for the assist Nic spins / baseline launch / he lays it off the glass / and runs back down, yeah, pumpin' his fist Chauncy / in stride / strokes one from the outside So, that puts the Zips up for good Our pressure can't be withstood Q drives the lane as part of his game and dishes to Tree and his huge frame He slams it home, and the ballgame is on With Zeke defending the paint, this will be fun Swatting the shots and getting the fame Fear the Roo Game time / a dribble / then Brett lights up-the-JAR with a trip-le The AK / Rowdies / are so hip Cheering for Egner and Deji (DG) as they fight to grip / that rebound Walsh probes the zone / and flings an / alley-oop that / Har-ney throws down Just then the crowd flips / all lips / are proudly cheering on the Zips The Zips are layin' the smack down Q drives the lane as part of his game and dishes to Tree and his huge frame He slams it home, and the ballgame is on With Zeke defending the paint, this will be fun Swatting the shots and getting the fame The Zips have won The Zips have won The Zips have won Oh, the Zips have won Af-ter overtime / what a game Well, the walkons Kyle and CJ get it done And the red-shirt, Blake / shouts the Zips' name Z - I - P - S! Let's go Zi - i - ips! (Hoops!) Dudley Do-Right / through the air rings And the kiss cam / fills the big screen While MSU / takes a beating / Oh With Zippy on the sideline giving a hand Again we'll / win the MAC / Championship / in Cleveland And then dance into the sweet sixteen Go / Zips!

Yeah, and for the first time ever Reghi called them the by the correct name. A K Rowdies rather than Ack Rowdies.

Koroma still a ? Per this ESPN article, we at least wouldn't be losing him to another school. It would be the pros that would take him away from us Even with those committed, there remain questions -- perhaps none as significant as Texas native Alfred Koroma. The Youth National Team standout has committed to Akron, however, he will have professional opportunities in the near future. As one source close to Akron said, “We’ll be holding our breath and hoping he shows up in August.”

Saint Mary's won by 7 and Long Beach State also pulled out a 7 point win but had to go to overtime to do it. -
2004 B.S. in Accounting and my wife is a 2005 B.S. in Accounting. I worked myself through school, commuted, didn't have much free time and never went to a single bball, soccer or football game while I was attending here. After I graduated something just clicked and I really started following them. I guess I could be considered an ex-athlete (although I selected Alum). I was on the golf team at Wayne College the first year they had to have it because of Title 9 (they had Womens volleyball and basketball and only men's basketball at the time).

This is the key. If he had to sit out a year I don't think he would do it. If he can transfer without sitting out a year since he got his degree (not sure of the exact rules around this) I could see why he might do it. I would much rather him stay. I don't think you will get that much better exposure at a lower tier power 6 school than he can get at Akron. Just perform on the field and at the combine and the scouts will find you.

Top 50 MAC players from the past 20 years Thoughts? DJ Cooper at #50 while Xavier Silas is #29, I think those could be reversed.

Interesting read in Can't Wired. Link

Per his coach in Sundays paper Link "Adam is also starting to get some interest from some Div. I schools," Harbour said. "Toledo and Youngstown State were in this week to talk." Someone needs to tell him YSU is not Div. 1.
