While watching the Toledo game again, the thought occurred to me, that I think (generally) Zeke is better this year at not getting early fouls called on him. He is able to play during more key minutes by not getting sent to the bench with early fouls. I hope I don't jinx him. I was also thinking back to game(s) when we made a real effort to pound the ball into Zeke and thought...is the staff saving that for the tourney...and why? I looked back and found my same worries after the ND game when Zeke really WAS the game plan. I wondered why the regular season didn't include a game plan like that of ND. We should take advantage of a weak MAC schedule to make Zeke THE game plan (a team strength) more than once. Make someone stop it, if they don't, great. If they do, find another way. We need to take MORE advantage of Zeke ASAP. KD said it himself, he can be a key to winning in the tourney. Quote from two years ago..."He's going to be good. He's going to get better offensively. According to an email I just received about renewing my season tickets, I'll be attending an exclusive party before hand. First year in awhile the game does not interfere with an annual golf trip. I won't have to rely on members giving me their opinion...which I appreciated. Still wish they could get this game on STO and play it a few times.

My quick hitters from yesterday: -One of the better coached games in recent Zips history. Keep it up! -Zeke comes up big against Ken+....again. I bet Ken+ fans will be glad to see him graduate. -Ken+ lacks talent compared to recent teams they have had. -Trap looked MUCH better then the Western game. -Whatever percent of practice the Zips spend on defense vs offense, I would like to see 10 percent more added to OFFENSE. -I would like to see Deji pass the ball at least 50 percent of the time he touches the ball. -Welcome back Chancey. I think this team needs his shooting to succeed late in the season. -As posted previously in this thread, great to hear Diggs was at the game. A good sign. -Why on televised games in Portage County, can I hear screaming 13 year old girl(s) every time the Flushes score??? Annoying. -I hate reading complaints about the refs on ZN, Zips got some calls yesterday. Nothing that changed the outcome. -Seems like Ken+'s team has less "thugs" on the team. I actually saw some sportsmanship from them. -I'm hoping an emotional victory like this one will up the focus of the players and staff. -We need better plays to get Zeke the ball down low in our half court offense. -Spotted some ZN members court side on the tube.

Yep. It's simple for OU, win an NCAA game or two. Best marketing. Same happened at Ken+ awhile ago. 40+ million people, some that don't even follow college basketball, play brackets in March. Now those people know about (name the team) basketball. If that team is in the area and they have a chance to see them live...now you have something. Win on the biggest stage.

I'm concerned. I was under the impression that this was the best team the Zips have had. I have seen better Akron teams. The guys with their blue and gold glasses on will disagree, but I judge a team by game performance, and I'm not seeing a team that is going to win a game in the NCAA tournament like some think they will. Over reaction to a win? Maybe. But this team should be more polished against these cupcakes. This is one of the reasons I don't like playing weak schedules. If you are a good team, you are not tested by weak teams. Teams get complacent. We need a killer instinct! Turn it on Zips! I'm glad we play Ken+ next, we need an emotional game. Pound those hippies back to the 70's.
